Chapter 1: Prologue
Your father is having an affair.
Your father....
It felt like a knife was being repeatedly driven deep into my heart without abandon.
My mom's face flashed in my head ,the pain was almost palpable.Her once full of life eyes were replaced with lifeless orbs.
I ran faster.My lungs were burning.My feet felt like jelly and I just dropped to my knees and clutched my chest and screamed out.
My face felt like it was cracking because of the dried tears.Fresh tears cascaded down my face like a waterfall and I was amazed that I still had anymore tears left.
I looked around nothing looked familiar but judging from the pain shooting in my legs,it's gonna be long run back home.I let myself succumb to the pain my body was in attempting to bury the ache that was in my heart but it didn't work ,if anything I felt worse.
What did we do wrong?Are we not good enough for him?How selfish can one possibly be?Infidelity is the greatest sign of disrespect and shows how much you don't care for you significant other.
Ohhhh had I known that something that I stand strongly against is happening in my own home....the universe must be pulling one on me.
I couldn't really decide what exact emotion I felt,ANGER,DISAPPOINTMENT...hurt.I was a daddy's girl,my dad was my best friend and he goes and does this.Did our bond even mean anything to him.I idolized the man,put him on a pedestal.In my head he could never do anything wrong but maybe that was the mistake I made.I forgot he's human and can hurt me but aren't fathers supposed to protect you.Does family not come first? Apparently not to my father.
From the bewildered stares I was getting I was certain I looked crazy with a tear stricken face and wild hair from the amount of times I pulled at it.I honestly couldn't care less.I bowed my head in defeat.
Life is unfair.I mean no one said it was easy but no one said it'd be this hard either.
I cried until I had no tears left.I lifted my head and looked at the setting sun, the beautiful reddish pink sky juxtaposed what was going on inside me.Anger and pain were brewing inside me.
With a new found strength I stood up and I took a very deep breath and it felt like I was coming back to life.It felt like someone was breathing power into me and I took it all in.
My name is Akashinga ,my name means the brave one and that is exactly what I chose to be,brave.It wasn't gonna be easy but I was prepared to fight.
