Chapter 9: The Demon Lord

After dinner, Elise took Winifred to her room. It was at the end of the house, which was divided into four parts. When someone entered through the front door, they would see the hall. A passage from the hall led straight to Elise's room. Between the hall and Elise's room was the kitchen. At the end of Elise's room, on the right side, there was a bathroom. The room had one window, one bed, two wooden shelves filled with books, a wooden table and chair, and a wooden cupboard.

"Here, Winifred, this is what our house looks like," Elise said, showing her the room.

"Oh… yes, it looks good," Winifred replied, looking around Elise's room.

"You don't need to hide your thoughts from me. I know it's small," Elise said with a smile.

"No, actually I like it, especially because it gives a cozy vibe!" Winifred replied with a smile.

"Oh… really?" Elise said.

"Yeah," Winifred replied.

Elise raised her hand in the air, and suddenly, on the right side of the room, a bed began forming from wooden branches, just like the wooden table and chair had been created earlier. In seconds, the bed took complete shape and was ready to use.

"You can sleep here. Let me get you some bedsheets and a blanket. It's cold at night," Elise said after the bed was complete.

Elise opened her cupboard and took out some bedsheets and a blanket for Winifred.

"Please, Elise, I'll do that," Winifred said, standing near Elise.

"Don't worry, I'll do it," Elise replied.

"You've already done too much for me, so please allow me to do this," Winifred said firmly.

Understanding Winifred's thoughts, Elise said, "Okay! Here, take it."

Winifred took the blanket and bedsheets from Elise's hands and made her bed ready for sleeping.

"It's done, Elise," Winifred said, looking at her.

"Oh… that's great. You can sleep now! If you need water, you can get it from the kitchen, okay?" Elise said.

"Oh… okay. I can start helping with housework from tomorrow, Elise," Winifred replied.

"Okay! Sleep now," Elise said.

Winifred lay on the bed and looked toward Elise.

"I'm going to the hall. You can sleep; you must be tired," Elise said.

"Oh… okay," Winifred said while lying on the bed.

Winifred watched as Elise walked toward the hall.

"Ha... heavy breath," Winifred sighed.

"Hmm… it was a long day. I don't know what time it is in my world. Still, I think it's the same. Maybe it's morning. Winter… Mom is going to worry about me if they find out I'm missing. Dad… I think it's good for him. He doesn't need to waste his time on me anymore."

"Mom… I don't know where she is or what she's doing. I hope she never finds out I went missing. Winter will probably think I ran away from home. That's a good reason. I hit that idiot Ash too, and she was bleeding. Well, she always bullied me, but I lost control that day because she interfered with Mom's memory. I shouldn't have done that to her. Nah, she deserved it. So, they'll probably think I was scared Ash would complain about me, so I ran away. Hmm… that's a good story. But I know Winter won't believe that. I guess she'll forget about me. Good for them. They always worried about me. Now they can finally be free," Winifred thought as she lay on the bed. Slowly, she drifted off to sleep.

In the hall, Elise sat on the sofa near the bonfire by her table, with the doll sitting beside her.

"Is Winifred asleep? She must be tired after what happened to her today," the doll said in a serious tone.

"Yeah, it was too much for her, but she still said today was actually a good day for her," Elise said seriously, smiling.

"That girl… she's not like others, you know. I mean, normal people," Elise said.

"Well, the fate circle brought her here, so how can she be normal? You know the last person the fate circle brought? He became one of the seven demon lords," the doll said in a harsh tone.

"Well, the fate circle doesn't bring normal people. Every person it brings makes history somehow," Elise said with a smile.

"Hmm… that's true," the doll said.

"So, she wants to be strong and happy," the doll added.

"Yes… she knows what she wants. I'm a bit shocked, you know. It's hard to find people her age who know what they want," Elise said.

"Yeah… so you're sure you're going to teach her magic?" the doll asked seriously.

"Yes. She can't survive without magic in this world, you know," Elise said with a smile.

"That's true," the doll replied.

"Do you think she'll regret coming to this world?" the doll asked.

"I know she won't. I know what kind of girl she is," Elise replied, smiling at the doll.

"That's interesting," the doll said.

Door opens sound….

Door closes sound….

"You're late, Prince," Elise said without looking back.

"Oh… welcome back. Don't push yourself too hard," the doll said.

Door opens sound again….

"Said something?" Elise asked, bending slightly to look back.

Door closes sound….

"Ahh… he's gone," Elise said, returning to her normal position.

"Don't worry, I'll tell him everything about the girl," the doll said.

"Okay," Elise replied, a bit nervously.

"When are you going to start teaching her magic anyway?" the doll asked.

"Not tomorrow… hmm… the day after tomorrow. We have to unlock her mana circuit first, and that's going to be a pain. Or should we start slowly?" the doll asked.

"No… we don't have that much time. In four years, she has to pass the magic school test. But I know it's going to be hard for her," Elise said.

"I know. You're doing this so she can survive in this world, right?" the doll asked.

"Yes! But I know she'll survive. We don't have much time either; those idiot gods are making moves, so we have to leave in four years," Elise said with a serious expression.

"I see. What happens if she fails the test?" the doll asked.

"Nah… she won't fail. I can see it in her eyes," Elise said confidently.

"Oh… well, I'm going to check if that idiot has eaten or not. I'm getting sleepy too," Elise said.

Elise stood up from the sofa and walked toward the left wall halfway.

"Okay, good night!" the doll replied.
