"I am not sure what skill but any skill that academy provides to the winner of the rankings would not be shabby"
When Morris explained this topic, everyone intensely listened to him.
After finding out that all of them could get a beast skill, they were very excited.
There were two types of beast skill.
One that gave user an armament like Lucas's glove and then allowed the user to execute the skill.
Other that gave you a beast soul which when combined with the beast's crystal, became a skill.
Absorbing the skill crystal like a beast crystal would give user the skill which could be used like their own skill.
But getting both the armament skill and skill crystal had a very low probability.
Getting a skill from a beast had a probability of less than 1%. Hardly anyone obtained beast skills.
And they were only sought for by advance ranks and below. With the probability of skill drop, it was very hard to kill a beast only for skills.
Master level and above did not need low level beast's skill and could not hunt high level beasts for skill either.
What was very unique about the beast skill was that it did not matter which ability you practice, you would be able to learn the skill.
A person could only learn one ability and then later use the ability to explore and create various techniques out of it.
A person could not learn more than one ability and that was absolute. Even researchers could not find the very exact reason for it.
The only conclusion they came to was that the body of ability user as a whole can only adapt to use one type of ability. Once learnt, then they could only use a new body to learn another ability.
However, with the introduction of skills this was not the case. People with same ability as beast skill were able to add another technique without training.
People with different ability type than the beast skill were able to directly learn the skill under another ability.
The result of skill was not very good as original and could not be strengthened if not same ability as user, but it was enough for critical situations.
The reward for beginner privates such as them would not be very much but it would be at least an intermediate tier skill.
They were very excited to know that they had a chance to gain a skill.
Adding a new skill of different ability in their arsenal was best for beginner level ability users. They could best adapt to the skills whether or not of same ability.
Roan already had one skill Wind Path which was versatile in battle. His expectations of beast skills grew.
Lucas and Jasper happily parted their distance with their beast crystals for on minute. Morris quickly scanned both of the crystal and gave it back.
"We have scanned five intermediate tier beast crystals and are ranked second on the group rankings." Morris happily informed them all
Roan and others checked the group rankings and found that their group THREE was ranked second with 5 intermediate crystals.
On the top of group rankings was a team named Alpha with 7 intermediate tier beast crystals.
"We need about ten more beast crystals of intermediate tier to win the ranking" Roan stated
Hearing the grand number of beast crystal shocked the other members but then again the top team Alpha already had 7 crystals.
The team members of Alpha were like professionals who came prepared and had experience in hunting.
It was only the beginning of third day of hunting and they already had 7 beast crystals. It could take fifteen or more crystals to rank in top three or win.
Morris thought it through and replied "Not only ten but more than ten. They like us, have only accustomed to the situation now. They could already hunt 7 beasts in two days so the remaining three days would be more fruitful for them."
"If we want to get the top ranking we have to aim for at least 15 beast crystals." Morris suggested
ROARRR!!!
A sudden beast roar surprised them while they were in middle of their discussion.
They stopped the discussion and hurriedly looked at the spot where the dead body of Mutant Leopard was placed.
Two Mutant Leopard of same size like the dead roasted Mutant leopard rushed at the spot.
They looked same with a little difference in their physiques. The difference was only in the length of tail of the beast.
The tail of the two beasts were smaller than the previous one. Their tail sized about 5 to 6 foot.
"Do they look a little weak than the previous one? or is it only me??" Lucas asked others for confirmation.
He did not know of Mutant Leopard's growth and its signs but he could differentiate because he had seen another beast of same species.
These two looked less powerful because their tails were smaller. It did not mean that the beasts were very weak. They were still intermediate tier.
"Their tails do look smaller than the previous one. Maybe they are not as strong as that beast." Morris replied
"But we don't even know how high the beast's combat strength is. Earlier because of Jasper's attack, it was a one hit kill." Morris added
Others also nodded in agreement. It was true that because of Jasper's sneak attack the Mutant Leopard was crippled.
They did not even get the chance to witness the strength of beast.
"Why don't we wait a little and see what they are up to. If they are here to avenge their brethren then they would wait." Jasper suggested
He was out of energy, it had only been little more than fifteen minutes from his previous attack. He did not want to slow them down.
More than that, he didn't want to be defenseless while facing two intermediate tier beasts.
Roan understood what Jasper was worried about when he asked to wait. He did not mean to object, he was also interested in seeing the beasts actions.
Morris looked at others, seeing that none of them had any suggestion he said "Its okay. Let's wait for a while."
Jasper closed his eye and fully concentrated on recovering his energy. He wanted to recover at least half of his energy.
Roan and others waited and watched the beasts stroll around the corpse.
"How good it would have been if we could check their stats too" Jennie sighed lightly
Roan's ears perked up. He noticed that no one mentioned about the system developed by Nates that is why he did not ask others.
Now suddenly when Jennie said about the stats, he felt excited. He could not discuss earlier because he thought there were other requirements for its activations.
Roan now had idea that he could compare their system with his and find out the difference.
He waited for a moment thinking what was the question he could ask to get this conversation going.
'I can't talk about the details of skills as I don't know if they have such skills or not' he thought
"When did you get your system?" Roan asked facing Jennie while trying not to sound excited.
"I got it on the second day when I was recovering my energy" Jennie answered
'That means my previous assumption was correct. It takes energy from the hunting space to unlock the system'
'Now how do I ask about the features of her system?'
'Ask her if there is any feature other than that? No, that sounds too obvious' he shook his head
'I can ask how her system looks like when she uses it. If there is a feature in it then she might describe that' he finally came to a decision
"How does your system look like?" he asked. He didn't ask her if her system window was a red screen but asked a vague question where she would do her best to describe it.
Lucas and Morris were also listening to them.
"It is a like a square screen of one foot where my name and level is mentioned. Below my level there are normal terms we generally use at strength tests." she did not continue and stopped speaking.
After she finished speaking, Roan looked at Lucas expecting him to speak about his system.
"I also have a blue square screen. My level is mentioned as seven. There are strength, stamina, agility, and energy written which shows a number right to them." Lucas said
Roan did not continue to ask. From the answers he got, he confirmed that except for a status window they don't have any other feature.
He did not ask any further and quietly observed the two beasts.
When he least expected it, Lucas spoke again "Why don't we tell each other our stats. The stats judged by this system seems very accurate."
"Sure, Why not" Roan said with indifference.
'How many points of stats does he have in each of his fields? From the fitness of his body, it seems perfectly balanced' Morris thought, he was also interested in learning Roan's stats
