The drive home from the cathedral was painful.
“That was a horrible plan,” Taigh fumed. “Trying to take the ring was…just…”
“What was your plan, Taigh Mordhas?” Arras retorted. “Just walk in and say please?”
The brothers glared at each other.
“What is so important about this ring anyway?” Taigh asked sharply. “They have recovered several of Mother’s rings.”
Arras’ brother shook his head glumly, “Why didn’t you put my name on the documents?”
Arras simply glared and turned to look out the window.
When the cab stopped, everyone silently went into the manor. They found the rest of the archeology team in the sitting room listening intently to Aedan and Brennus as they told tales “of their time with Arras.”
“...There, in the middle of the battle, Arras takes off his helmet and tosses it,” Aedan reenacted the scene. “ ‘There,’ he looked me in the eye. ‘Now I can fight.’ then he took out the guard tower with just a handful of flaming arrows!”
