Chapter 42: Chapter 42: An Unfortunate Circumstance

Arras waved goodbye and shut the door.

“What was that all about?” Hoffman asked, peeking out the window in the sitting room.

“I think Theo knows more than he lets on,” Arras said quietly. “We will have to watch him.”

Later that night, Arras and Rhea sat together in front of the fireplace in Arras’ dark bedroom.

Rhea leaned back against Arras’ strong chest, tracing his tattoo with her finger. Arras rested his lips against her temple, breathing deep and losing himself in her scent.

“I’m so happy you are getting your mother’s ring back, even after all that…mess…” Rhea sighed.

Arras chuckled, “I am happy, Rhea. It has taken centuries for me to be happy again…and it is all because of you.”

Rhea tilted her head back for one of Arras’ lingering kisses. One kiss turned into countless, and it didn’t take long until there was only one place to go.
