Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Hyunjin heard a creak. He looked up from his place in the corner of the cabin, to check who it was.
There, a man stood at the doorway, the moonlit sky illuminating his figure. He was tall and had broad shoulders. He stood in the doorway seemingly staring at Hyunjin. Hyunjin slowly stood up and looked at the intruder. Due to the dark, he was not able to see the features of the man.
The person stepped into the room letting the darkness engulf his form. He strolled towards the center of the room and then remained unmoving as if examining him.
Hyunjin felt unnerved by the stranger. He patted his pockets, searching for a lighter. He found it in his back pocket. He raised the lighter in front of his face and lit it. The fire illuminated the room a little. It was enough to let him see the intruder.
There he stood. A young man seemingly the same age as Hyunjin. His short jet black hair was slicked back, his sharp jaw on display. His doe eyes were staring at him. Tattoos wound up from his right wrist and then disappeared under the sleeve of his black shirt leaving nothing to the imagination.
But the most important feature that caught Hyunjin's eyes were the pearly whites laying on the cushiony pink lips. Fangs.
A Vampire.
They stared at each other in a silence rich with things Hyunjin couldn't understand and could never explain.
"Who are you?"

Regret. That was what he felt while he sat there. Chan held his head in his hands, with his elbows resting on the table. He rubbed his face. He felt horrible.
Thoughts like 'I could have handled it in other ways' or 'I should have thought before slapping him' floated inside his head.
"Thank God, you removed that disgusting human from this pack", Han muttered.
After the whole ordeal, Han, I.N and Seungmin were the happiest. They were jumping around Bang Chan as if they had won some competition.
"I am so happy. It's finally US. No more intruders in this family. Our pack is finally complete. Let's celebrate tomorrow", exclaimed Jeongin happily.
"Come on. I am bored. Can you all brighten up a bit? What is with the long face hyung?", Seungmin murmered while hitting Chan's back.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!", Chan yelled at the trio. The others were staring at the four. Chan slammed at the table and stood up.
Han, I.N. and Seungmin stopped smiling immediately. It was the first time ever Chan had yelled at them like THAT.
"NO!! WE ARE NOT COMPLETE!! HE IS OUR FAMILY TOO!! HE IS THE PART OF THIS PACK.. How can you speak like that about him??? Huh?", fumed Chan.
Han was fuming with anger.
"YOU don't have the right to speak to us like that when YOU were the one who slapped Hyunjin and kicked him out", Han replied coldly.
Chan went completely silent. His eyes were filled with regret and guilt. He nodded and faced downwards at the table, tears threatening to fall from his eyes.
"Yeah...you are right!! My mistake! Sorry!!"
He then quietly left the room.
He entered his room and sat down on his bed. What had gone wrong?
Tears slowly trickled down his face. He broke his promise to his father. The only one promise his father had made him to do. The only thing that his father ever asked of him. He failed to protect Hyunjin!!
He remembered the little boy his father had brought from the forest.
Beginning of Flashback
The sound of the closing of a door resonated in the house.
"Papa, you came!!!"
A 10 year old Chan ran towards his father.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw a small figure hiding behind his dad. His tiny hand was wrapped around his father's index finger.
"Who is it behind you papa?"
Chan had asked his father.
"Hyunjin, come forward and meet him. He is my son. He won't harm you."
A tiny frail boy peeked from behind his father. His eyes wide with fear and there was something more - curiosity.
Chan smiled fondly at the little boy who wouldn't leave his father. Chan waved at him.
Seeing his smile, Hyunjin gave him a small smile and waved towards him in response. He looked like a kitten to Chan.
"Channie, dear, Hyunjin will be staying with us from now on. So make sure to make him feel comfortable"
"Yes papa"
His father moved towards his bedroom leaving Hyunjin behind. Hyunjin squirmed under Chan's gaze. He had a small wound on his forehead. His eyes were red around the rim and his cheeks had a rosy hue. It was clear that he had cried.
"Hi h-hyung"
"Hi Hyunjin. Wanna come with me to Mumma? She will treat your injury."
Hyunjin slowly nodded at him.
"Hey Hyunjin how old are you?"
Hyunjin held up 7 fingers. Cute.
"Ok so I am your hyung. I am 10. Wanna be friends?"
Hyunjin titled his head to the side, his face scrunched up. "F-Friends??"
"Yes friends. Now come with me."
From that day onwards Hyunjin always sticked to Chan. They became friends or you could say brothers instantly.
Hyunjin used to take dancing lessons from an omega who worked as a cook in their house.
He would always quietly watch from the sidelines whenever Chan worked.
When Chan was around 18, his Mom died in an accident.
His father went into depression.
He called Chan one day.
"Chan-ah, you are ready to take the post of a Head Alpha. So, you need to take my place. Chan-ah can I ask you a favour, a promise?"
Chan simply nodded even though he didn't know why his father was speaking like that.
"Please take care of Hyunjin. Look after him and protect him. Never let anything happen to him. Treat him as your own pup. Promise me Chan-ah"
"I promise you Dad"
The next day, the pack members found Mr. Bang dead in his room. He had ultimately committed suicide by cutting his wrists.
Chan blamed himself for not being attentive to his father. He promised himself that day, that he would fulfill his father's last wish.
End of Flashback
But he had ultimately broken the promise he had made.
He, till that day didn't understand why his father was so protective over Hyunjin.
He valued him ten times more than Bang Chan himself.
He didn't know anything about Hyunjin's past. Yet he never asked.
