/ Anime & Comics / The Average DC Experience (COMPLETED)
Synopsis
One bad day is all it takes to send an average man to the fringes of madness, or so a wise, demented clown once said.
But if one bad day that started with getting fired and ended with a meteor falling over one such average man's head didn't drive him insane, then maybe waking up in a fictional world full of monsters would do the trick?

Write a reviewSo! Here's my review on what I think is a DC fanfic with a ton of potential and has my mind wanting more to read. Writing Quality: So, quality wise it's good. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because of the errors here and there scattered about that break my immersion at times. Also, because as far as I'm aware, the author is English speaking. Even if it is auto correct, I still give 3 stars for not going back to edit the obvious ones. Stability of Updates: This is a new fanfic so not really much to review on, but so far so good. Story Development: It's good. Not original at first, but then again nothing is in fanfics, but has it's own charm and is still in it's developing stages at the moment. There is no clear goal for the MC and I like that. Not saying the author doesn't know what he's doing, but that the story is naturally developing in a way that has me thinking of multiple possibilities that I don't know the end goal. Character Design: I like the MC. I've seen comments hating on him for being a "beta MC" but that's just them reading too many OP fanfics and Wuxia face slapping BS. The MC is no pushover, but he isn't an idiot either. He's a regular guy, in a f****ed up world and is suffering from a disconnection from reality and fiction in a realistic fashion that isn't presented as being a wimpy kid but isn't treated as a nonchalant passing of rushed character development that he gets over quickly and pursues strength. He's a guuy genuinely searching for some meaning in his existence and following the most convenient path for himself until he finds it. World Background: Not much going on, but that's because it's still new. For now, it's enough, but can probably be more descriptive in terms of his (MC) current setting in scenes. Right now, it's more like a description at the start and end of scenes with some breaks in the middle that describe a scene change before going back into dialogue. But still a 5 because the details mentioned in passing are enough for the imagination. Overall: Ton of potential with a unique MC and thought process that I can see him easily become insane or "real" in the eyes of the residents of DC. It's rare seeing this type of personality and thought process being explored in a way that doesn't make it feel like I'm reading a dictionary or scientific report. This feels like a nice, simple fanfic with some spice and not like the other existential crisis MC's in stories that take one chapter to write about nothing but filler, or some that are rushed so much that there is now flow. Short Version: I like it.
The mc doesn’t have the ability to see the future he is so weak This is joke im trying to get a laugh Out of author before he deletes it
its good but oml the MC is driving me insane he hates the system and everything he gets fron it he regards with disgust because it 'isnt real' and its honestly super annoying because hes constantly bitc .hing about it
İ find the mc weak in the mind and also too expressive on his thoughts, it is a good point that he thinks about his existence and all but he is too caught up in it and his basic survival instinct as a human should be to better himself no matter what(i am talking about him not putting his stat points to use for a really long time and despite him coming so close to death)in such a dangerous world, there is also the fact that he does not even consider leaving gotham which in itself is not realistic too i mean it is dangerous so make a quick cash and leave it right?, he is also too emotional and too contemplative, too much awareness in emotions is also not good even though he can't put a finger in what he actually feels for a longt time, the way he thinks seems a little forced to me but the rest is good even though i pointed a lot of stuff that i didn't like your story is so far so much better than what this site offers in a great quantity, i definitely liked it. 4.4
it's a good fanfic but i have to force my self to finish reading a single chap. it make me lose interest in the middle of the chapter or sometimes in the beginning of chapter...basically up and down. do i recommend this fanfic to other? yeah i would. The writing is better than other fanfic...that's all. ps : currently i dont like the mc, bit beta. but hey , character development is there so 👍
Let's just say the author takes some creative liberties to make sure the MC is always the punching bag. either with other characters or even the mcs choices. Some decisions from the MC flat out just nerfs his own chances at things. MC is an adult too, by mind if not body, and yet he behaves like a hormonal teenager. Doesn't match with a cigarette smoking, beaten down by system with no fs to give anymore corpo drone. I say this as someone who has gone through that. At some point u stop caring and become emotionally detached from all the stuff. also thr author might be deleting reviews, it's a sneaking suspicion only though.
Until chapter 115, everything is tolerable until he is stupidly forced to ruin everything. Such a stupid moment, the MC suddenly becomes another stupid character who screams while getting up, attacks without a plan, and the author blames it on the plot
I dropped it because of the MC, I don't like him, but the story is good, of a chance, is to see if you will like the mc.
The story is pretty good and I enjoyed reading it. Honeslty I would rate it higher except the synopsis had increased my expectations. It was said that this would be more realistic and harder and not wish fufillment. While the mc certainly isn’ OP the second he enters the world. He has the ability to reach super human levels in a week or two after. I find this hard to consider more Hard and difficult. The mc puts self imposed restrictions on himself or he would be extremely strong in a few chapters. If I wasn’ expecting soemthing different it would really bother me.
The story is okay but the MC is infuriating. If you like MCs with at least one braincell, this story isn't for you. The authors' attitude towards criticism isn't any better
It's a novel that avoids the excesses of the protagonist going all hero, all anti-hero or too domineering to the extent that his allies and enemies fear him. Also, it avoids the common cliched trend of a DC fanfic being based on the Young Justice tv series just as most Marvel fanfics are based on MCU. One interesting element of the story is that the MC is not like other MCs who becomes OP through mastering one really broken ability, but he has several skills and abilities yet he struggles due to inexperience and time needed to obtain self-control. Overall it's a story worth reading that gets more and more intriguing.

This is one of those fanfics you start reading and immediately get an headache. The MC apparently get an existential crisis and have a mental breakdown a few days after reincarnating, he doesn't want to be a "fictional character in DC" and doesn't believe anyone around him is actually "alive" as they are only figures preprogrammed to act as they are acting by script. That leads to him not wanting to use the points he gets from the system to get stronger, even after almost getting killed twice in one week he still doesn't use the points to get stronger. Eventually he gets over his fear and starts using the system points to get stronger, but yet he is still not killing anyone for some reason. That leads to the exact situation of all DC heroes, defeating a villain just to fight the same villain again a week later after he recovers... So he become just what he feared and criticized, a hero who is always taking out his enemies but never killing them, just like Superman and Batman... (I know the author said that the MC doesn't kill cuz he doesn't want the Justice League to be on his tail and arrest him, however that is stupid cuz even if they arrest him, he can just escape from prison just like every other villain does every week... and even after he gets stronger so he doesn't fear the Justice League he still didn't kill anyone... So in general the Anti-Hero tag is just there to pull readers...) Now, how to describe the story as a all? Predictable... Just as every DC comic, the author points out how stupidly and predictable the heroes act in those comics, and yet the MC acts exactly the same... I've never seen such an hypocrite author. On the one hand he makes the MC complain about how unfair it is that the civilians are getting killed constantly by villains who escape prison, and yet the MC too doesn't kill anyone and simply send them to prison to escape again...
Story is pretty good well thought out and good progres and now this is my personal thoughts but I feel like it would be nice if something happens to him later in the story that changes his mindset to start killing threats to him because him leaving villain and people who wanna screw him over his gonna bite him back then he beats them then the cycle continues
-Personal Impression: It's not often that I am impressed by a fic, but this fine work did just that. It avoids most cliche's, while keeping the MC in a... let's call it "human" frame of mind. -Writing Quality: Other than a few grammar issues, the writing quality is some of the best I have seen on this site. Give it a read for yourselves and you'll see what I'm talking about. -Stability of Updates: This fic updates on the regular. Usually, every few days, if not every day you'll see new content. And if you want it sooner, you can always donate to the authors Patreon. -Story Development: Slow paced... but engaging. Enough said. -Character Design: The MC is interesting, but I do have a few issues with his character. First... is that he's a loner. I would like to see him engage with others a bit more. I feel it would make him more relatable. Second... is that I'm 95 chapters in and I still haven't seen a whole lot of character growth. Not on an emotional level, anyway. And with all he's been through, that doesn't feel natural to me. -World Background: It needs to be said that I am not actually clear as to which version of DC that the MC ended up in. Is he in a classic comic version? An AU? I just don't know. Other than that, the author does a good job of describing the MC's surroundings. All in all, worth the read. Well done author!
