Chapter 81: Poachers
I would come out of this state of mana awareness to see if my body was rested enough for me to move again. It was at least another two hours before the convoy stopped, and by then I was completely healed, but I still couldn't move. System what is going on with my body?
User is suffering temporary side effect from electric shock combined with previous Basilisk damage.
Great. I would have sighed if I had any control over my body. System do you know when the electrical shock damage will wear off so I can move again?
Approximately 10 minutes and 33 seconds from now.
At least I won't be stuck like this much longer.
"Take them to the storage tent with the live beasts," Shaun ordered, "Then check his mana level."
"Yes sir," an unnamed grunt responded.
"Get your hands off me you bastards," Savannah screamed.
Apparently she was getting taken to a cage first. I was then picked up.
"Wait," Shaun spoke up again.
I felt someone grab my arm, and yank it around a bit. It was probably Shaun.
"He's healed completely from the look of it," Shaun spoke again, "He'll wake up soon. Grab a blood sample, and throw some black cuffs on him. We'd better make sure these two are both human." I could hear Shaun take a few steps away on what sounded like gravel, "I'll give the rest of these fuckers their orders, and meet you in there."
I was carried around for about a minute before I was thrown on the ground. I wanted to protest about the rough treatment, but it didn't hurt, and despite the fact that I was completely aware of what was going on around me I still couldn't move just yet. I felt him pull my arm up off the ground a little, and then a poke right at the bend of my arm. The pinprick pressed harder, and harder on my skin until there was a little snick sound.
"Fuck," Unnamed grunt complained, "Needle broke."
He tried to prick me again, but again the needle wasn't tough enough to get through my skin.
"You get those blood samples yet?" Shaun called as he entered the wherever this was.
"This kids got some tough skin," unnamed grunt complains, "Broke two needles on him."
"Use a beast needle you moron," I hear a slap sound as if Shaun smacked grunt in the back of the head, "I'll get the girl."
"You're not getting anything from me dickhead," Savannah yells at the top of her lungs.
I flinch away from the sound as I start to regain control over my body. Grunt pressed a fresh needle into the bend of my arm, and this one goes in.
"Wyatt!" Savannah screams, "Wake up you idiot."
"Shut up," I hear another smacking sound as my eyes start to crack open.
Savannah screams, and struggles as she's thrown down. I turn my head just in time to see an ark of electricity go from Shaun's hand into Savannah. He was using his hands like a taser. Savannah went limp, and her sleeve was pushed up as a vial of blood was drawn from her arm.
"Get cuffs on him before he decides to turn you into a popsicle," Shaun points at me as he closes Savannah into some sort of cage.
Grunt pulls the needle out of my arm, and hands it over to Shaun. Shaun walks over to some sort of terminal at the back of the tent like shelter. I struggle to sit up, and I get about halfway there before grunt flips me on my belly. Pulling my hands around my back to cuff them. I feel my mana draining immediately, but I'm watching Shaun drop Savannah's vile of blood into the terminal.
Grunt grabs my feet, and starts dragging me towards a cage. I kick, and thrash around as my mana is draining away faster than I can absorb fresh mana. Grunt punches me in the leg as he tries to get me to stop.
"Level four fire elemental mage," Shaun looks over his shoulder smiling at Savannah, "Daughter of one of the four greats. You'll fetch a nice reward."
I grit my teeth as I watch him turn back to the terminal. Swirling my vial of blood slightly before glancing over his shoulder at me for a brief second.
"Your turn," Shaun drops my vial into the terminal.
Mana depleted. Mana drain cuffs are now feeding off mana that is being used to maintain camouflage form.
Grunt kicked me again while I was distracted by the notification. I had full control over my body now, and I pulled against my restraints with all my strength. The links between the cuffs groaned as the metal started to give. Then I was spasming from the massive amount of electricity Shaun had decided to pour into me. He stopped shocking me, and leaned over me with fury in his eyes.
"What, the fuck, are you?" Shaun practically spit at me.
Obtaining lightning affinity. User needs to expose himself to another pure jolt of lightning in 5. 4. 3.
"Fuck off sparky," I spit on his feet.
Shaun shocked me again. I gritted my teeth as his lightning went right through me into the ground.
New skill. Lightning affinity level 1. High compatibility with lightning affinity detected. Lightning affinity level up. Lightning affinity level 2. Basilisk venom cleared from users body. Level 10 reached. Evolution beginning. Mana drained from camouflage. Reverting to original form.
I felt the cuffs go tight on my wrists as I switched forms. Shaun, and grunt both seemed to mesmerized to move there for a moment. That is until the first cuff broke. Shaun acted first. Shocking me with what felt like his entire mana reserve, but this time it didn't hurt nearly as much.
I growled as I stood on all fours slowly. My body was burning almost as intensely as when I'd absorbed the basilisk's crystal, but this time I was focused on killing the enemies in front of me. I used my rage to stuff down the pain as I evolved. I jumped forward, and buried my teeth into grunts neck as Shaun ducked behind him. The dull sound of my hatchling scales falling out as they were replaced barely reached me as mana came crashing back into my empty reserve.
