Chapter 92: Not gonna like this

"We should wait until we get to the room," I patted Ethan's shoulder, "It'll be easier to show you."

We lapsed into silence the rest of the way to the dorm room. I went into the room first, and turned straight into my dorm room. Throwing my clothes off, and switching back into my dragon form. I'd left the door open, but Ethan never tried to peek. It was a tight squeeze to turn around in my room now, but I still managed it.

I had to pull my wings in tight to make it through the door. I stopped halfway, and laid down in the doorway.

"Start at the beginning remember?" Ethan sat down at his desk.

"You already know about being shoved through the rift right?" I watched Ethan nod a little impatiently, "Well the rift opened up to sky. I caught Savannah, and glided down to the ground to the best of my ability. This was the first time Savannah had seen my real body. We were doing alright up against the weaker creatures until Savannah spooked, and ran away. Right into a Basilisk's den. I got bit saving her, but I managed to kill the Basilisk's by pulling it's mana core out of it's head. I don't have to tell you what happens when a Basilisk bites someone."

"You almost got turned to stone!!!" Ethan stood up, and started pacing, "What were you thinking? Why did you do something so stupid?"

"It was either that or let Savannah die," I snapped, "Besides I'm still here aren't I?"

Ethan's pacing slowed, but he didn't stop.

"Yeah," Ethan slowed even further, "What happened after you killed the Basilisk?"

"I was turning into stone slowly," I continued, "I was able to hold the venom off on my own a bit, but my mana was running out so I started eating the beast crystals we collected during the trip until we ran out of all the weaker crystals so the only crystal we had left was the Basilisk's crystal so I ate that one too, and it gave me enough mana to fight off the rest of the Basilisk venom, but there was a side effect."

I opened my jaws slowly, and reached my claws into my mouth for the pouch behind one of my fangs. I was careful to keep my head away from Ethan as I pressed on the pouch. The fang extended, and started pumping out venom. I stopped pressing after just a few droplets came out. The venom hit the floor, and hissed slightly as it turned the little spots of rug it hit to stone.

I let it sink in slowly. Ethan had stopped pacing, and slowly knelt down to look at the stone bits of rug.

"This is Basilisk venom," Ethan poked at the stone bits of rug with a pen, "Did you just store it up from when you were bit or do you produce it?"

"I'm pretty sure I produce it," I probably would have run out by now if I didn't.

"Don't you have a credit problem?" Ethan looked over his pen carefully before poking at the stone bits of rug with his finger, "Because Basilisk venom is rare, and hard to get. If you sell some you won't have to worry about trashed uniforms anymore. Maybe you'll be able to get some better armor."

"I can't just go buying whatever," I snapped at Ethan as I thought over what he was saying, "I can't just sell as much venom as I feel like either. People will get suspicious if a rare item suddenly gets easy to find, and an orphan suddenly gets rich quick."

"That's true," Ethan dropped his gaze focusing on the stone bits of rug.

"I can still sell a little," I cocked my head, "But it needs to be more of an as needed only type of thing. That way I can at least pretend I'm selling beast crystals for my money like all the other students." I cocked my head to the other side, "The first quarter reevaluations are coming up so I can raise my skill level. Then it'll be way more believable when I can buy better sets of armor."

I clicked on the desktop display. Making it light up as I pulled up the date for the first quarter reevaluations.

"We should both shoot to raise our levels," I looked at Ethan, "If we jump a few levels up in combat ability we should get left alone. We're both more than strong enough to top out our first year ability rankings. I don't want to max out yet though. We should shoot for level six or seven. High but not the top."

"Not a bad plan," Ethan stopped crouching to look at the stone bits of rug, and sat in the desk chair, "You honestly think I can pull it off. Those evaluations have a lot of people there, and I can barely manage holding it together when I'm in the club."

"If I get better at hypnotizing you," I snorted, "I can make it so you're calm. I don't want you to rely on it too heavily, but it wouldn't hurt to strengthen the ability if we need it in a pinch."

Ethan was looking at me a bit too hopefully now.

"Get to bed," I scooted back in my room, "We've been up a bit long as it is. Savannah fell asleep at least an hour ago. We can talk about my inner world tomorrow."

"Inner what?" Ethan watched me close the door.

I fell into a deep sleep this time so no more inner world tonight. Definitely not the worst thing that could happen to me tonight. I awoke to irritating beeping again, and growled at the stupid little watch. I stood slowly as I cracked the door open carefully. Ethan was a slow riser so I had the common area to myself for a little bit.

I wanted to stretch, but my room wasn't big enough for me to stretch properly. It would have to wait until tonight. Ethan would come out of his room soon. I snorted to myself as I clicked my talons on the floor. I hoped Ethan would be as dull as he normally was in the morning.
