Chapter 95: Dragonbeast
Now the remaining sixteen players were all focused on me. Lowering my head, and growling happily in response to the challenge. I rushed forward. Taking several hits as I literally ripped three of them apart. I was starting to take some serious damage though.
I gathered water around my digital wounds quickly. Since I couldn't really use mana exchange in this game for some reason. I wasn't healing with the other spell either so I gave up on holding water against my wounds. I started dodging more of the obvious shots. My body was starting to slow so I inhaled, and blasted lightning at the closest guys.
I hit, and killed two. Another two were caught by stray sparks that came off the beam of lightning collapsing in place, but I hadn't killed them. I didn't have much steam left as it was so I needed to just take out whoever I could. I rushed forward, and grabbed both of the downed guys. Digging my talons into them as I was taken out.
I switched forms, and started watching the rest of the round quietly. I didn't want to talk to the other players so as usual I kept my eyes down on the battle below me. System my xp.
540/3200 xp until level 13.
That wasn't bad, but it wasn't enough. I wouldn't level up today at this rate.
"So you're the Dragonbeast?" Someone spoke up from behind me.
I was planning on ignoring him, but something about his tone caught my attention. I turned my attention to him, but I kept my mouth shut. I knew he could see my username floating above my head so I didn't need to say anything at all.
"Your whole transformation changed," He continued.
It was hard to take him seriously since his avatar was dressed like a punk with spiked leather jacket, and green spiked hair. Like those punks in the old movies. I turned my head slightly. I was interested in what he had to say now.
"I've never seen a shifter pull off such a complete transformation," he looked me up then down, "Seriously having a complete change in color, and size is extremely rare in shifting type mages. Plus the multi element thing you keep doing." He narrowed his eyes at me, "Never seen that before either."
"I wouldn't know," I dropped my gaze, and acted as if I was focusing on the match, "I don't get out much."
"You have a reputation of not talking to anyone," he stepped up next to me, and dropped his gaze to the floor, also pretending to watch the match, "And you're getting very powerful, very fast. Plus that complete evolution of your beast form." He sucked in a breath through his nose, "Stuff like that makes me think you're not entirely human."
"Sorry," I was quickly losing interest in the match in front of me, "But I really don't know what you're talking about." I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye without moving my head, "There's no one else like me either so I'm not entirely sure what to expect."
"I would like you to tell me who you are," he smiled slightly, "But I don't think you will. Government won't like someone as talented as you around. Especially a beast mage as powerful as you. Beast mages are barely accepted as it is."
"Why would I need to know any of this?" I lifted my head to stare ahead for a few seconds.
"Beast mages got to stick together," he half stepped away from me, "I didn't change my face in this game so if you see me I'd like to chat a bit." he paused looking at me briefly, "In real life."
I liked him. I would definitely try to chat with him if I got the chance. The round ended about twenty minutes later. I didn't really care about the players that were still down there. I wouldn't be getting back in here for at least another week.
I needed to level up, but I also needed to keep myself from suffering from backlash. Overusing my physical camouflage ability would be a huge lethal mistake at this point, but I still needed to level up so now was the time for a delicate balance. I entered free for all again, and this time I was thrown into forest. I liked this quite a bit more than open grass field. Jumping onto the trunk of the nearest tree, and climbing straight to the top.
Switching my vision to infrared, and scoping out everyone on the battlefield quickly. My vision improved every single level I climbed up. I could see most of the the map from where I was perched. I picked out a target, and moved in quickly. My weight made the tree branches break so I had to stick to grabbing onto the trunks of the trees themselves.
It seemed as if they were trying their hardest to make this game as accurate as possible. My first target had no clue I'd even been following him. He didn't even have time to look up in surprised as I dropped on him. My claws shredded him easily. Most humans wouldn't stand a chance against me in a real fight, even if they tried.
They stood a chance if they teamed up against me, but out here in the forest they didn't know they needed to team up. I took out three in rapid succession after the first guy. Darting through the trees like a lethal missile. I was considerably bigger than anyone in the game, but I was pretty sure that was supposed to be pretty big. Almost all the art showing what dragon's were supposed to look like depicted them as massive creatures.
The bigger I got the more hits I took, and the more hits I took the stronger my damage resistance was. It was a domino effect really. I was considerable harder to kill than most creatures the same size, and strength as me. I took three shots to the neck. Breaking my line of thought, and irritating me.
