Chapter 17: Bond?
I awoke to that annoying beeping again. I was Ethan's room. Apparently he'd taken me with him after I fell asleep on the floor last night.
Trust bond level 1 formed with Ally Ethan.
Ethan, and user can now vaguely sense each other's general direction.
Ally bond limit reached for current rank 1/1.
Bond? What? System what is this bond thing?
Dragon's can form bonds with strong loyal allies, and strengthen their allies by strengthening the bond. Allies evolve when trust bond reaches max level. Allowing allies more access to draconic strength, and abilities.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bad thing. System ask me before you form a bond next time.

Well at least I won't have to worry about it for a while, but I didn't ask Ethan before forming the bond. I might be in trouble if he doesn't like it. System are there any negative effects to severing a bond?
Negative effects of severing a bond vary depending on the bonds strength. Low strength basic trusts bonds can be severed with only minimal mental impact. Depression, Anger, and confusion are common symptoms. More advanced bonds can cause extreme mental distress, pain, and possible death to ally if severed. Some negative effects can rebound onto the user.
If I'm going to break the bond I need to do it now then. I wiggled a little, and Ethan rolled his arm off of me. I jumped off the bed quickly leaving Ethan's room as him second alarm started going off. I could hear Ethan groan as he slowly rolled out of bed. I would need to talk to him about this today.
There was no putting it off. If I didn't sever the bond now it would be really bad for both of us later if it got stronger. Ethan was an odd guy though he might actually want to be bonded to me. I had no clue. I went into my room, and realized I had two or three sets of random clothes laying around.
I grabbed them two at a time, and threw them into the cleaning bin. I checked my credits right quick. I had forty credits banked up. I needed to bank up some more before I could get some decent equipment. System current xp.
10/200 xp until next level.
My xp hadn't gone up much lately. I kind of wanted to boost it at least a little this week. I transformed into my human form, and got dressed quickly. I went into the common area, and looked at Ethan.
"We need to talk," I smiled nervously, "It can wait until later. When I'm less human looking." I went to the door, "Let's go before we're late."
I went out the door, and Ethan was right on my heels as usual. He may be afraid of talking to most people, but for some reason we just got along. Even though I was probably more dangerous than normal people. Ethan seemed to like animals, and when I was awake enough to look at him during beast classes he was always glued on his notes. Writing down every important thing the teacher had to say.
Maybe Ethan wanted to pursue a career in taming later on. As long as he didn't try to tame me it would be awesome for him. I wasn't actually able to doze off during classes today. I was so worried about what Ethan would say when he found out I'd actually formed some kind of bond with him. By the time I got to fitness class I felt like a zombie.
We weren't sent out to do laps like usual. The teacher actually had us sit down in the bleachers right away.
"Do you know what's up?" I looked at Ethan.
He shook his head, and shrugged at me. Well what the hell. Guess I'll have to stay awake long enough to figure out what he wants.
"Today after class," he began, "The first year extra curricular activities are now open, and accepting applications. You'll have this weekend off, but next weekend we expect you to be in one of the clubs. Club slots are fairly limited so you need to apply now. They are all combat skill type clubs. From learning martial arts to ability specific clubs." he paused, "I expect you to be in one of those clubs. Anyone who hasn't managed to find a club will be severely reprimanded, and then placed into any club with open spots whether it works for you or not." he clapped his hands loudly, "Now back to work cadets. Maybe we'll get you in shape by next Christmas."
Clubs for the weekends? You've got to be kidding me. The weekend had been my only days to just relax completely all week. Staying in all day was boring, but if I really wanted to go out I had Ethan to help me now. I ran through the motions of combat I'd been shown on day one again.

My muscles were angry at me by now. I wanted so very badly just to go back to sleep, but I kept going in big circles around the field over, and over again.

Finally. One more stamina. I needed as much stamina as I could get. Class ended, and that familiar sense of dread I'd been dealing with all day hit me again full force. Talking to Ethan could go very wrong tonight.
I really wanted to avoid this conversation, but it would be really bad if I did. I went back to the room with Ethan, and was in my room taking off my clothes before the door even clicked. I cancelled my transformation, and left my room quickly.
"So," I hesitated, "Have you noticed that odd tug in the back of your mind?"
