Chapter 391: 20.2

Goliath had an idea of a hunting ground that would be better then rift city. The problem was we couldn't get there without being arrested. I suggested using one of my bonded as a sort of homing beacon for opening a portal, and then portaling over there that way. Goliath had shot the idea down because my bonded were just as wanted as I was. For now it was time for us to deal with the wyverns.

They wanted us over there right away. They were paying for a portal trip for the four of us. I called Calen to make sure he even had a portal since he had always used spaceships for transport. They were powered by cores, and required electronic coordinates. Calen never turned it on because it consumed cores by the dozen, and a guild struggling just to get cores wouldn't be able to afford that kind of expense.

I gave the egg to Aurora. Her lips curled back as she showed me her teeth, but she pulled her teeth in, and swallowed the egg down to her egg pouch. It was a good thing that she wasn't dumb enough to damage a perfectly good dragon egg. She'd probably feel different when it didn't hurt her to swallow the eggs anymore. I flared my wings as I prepared to create a portal back to guild.

"I don't think we should go," Savannah patted my shoulder, "It's probably a trap."

"I said I would help if help was needed," I snorted, "I'm not going to go back on my word now."

"What are you going to do if they try to kill you?" She looked at me skeptically.

"I won't have to do anything," I smirked, "They won't even get through my scales, and a few broken legs never killed anyone."

She frowned at me when I said that, but she didn't argue or criticize me. I watched the portal boom into existence. The others had already climbed onto my back so I just needed to rush through. I let the portal collapse behind me as I settled on the other side. I'd managed to make it so that the portal appeared outside of the outpost this time.

I almost shook myself to help settle myself, but stopped when I realized that my bonded were still on my back. Sure Ethan would be able to hold on. It was the other two I wasn't so sure about. My wings flared as I jumped into the air. Startling two of my bonded in the process.

Ethan steadied the both of them so they didn't fall off. Once I leveled out he didn't need to steady them anymore. Ethan being in tune with me was helping them more then it was helping me. I didn't mind. I didn't really care to babysit.

I took my time. I didn't need to hurry. It was only a few hour flight. I could feel the difference of mana regeneration speed, and it irritated me. They way they made all my muscles work together to keep me in the air.

The extra weight made me work harder when I was in flight. I glided down to the ground calmly just outside of the guild. Laying down on the ground slowly to allow Savannah, and Jax off my back. The people at the top of the wall still looked surprised whenever I showed up with humans on my back. I didn't know why it was surprising since there were just as many tales of dragons destroying people as there were fantasies of people riding dragons.

I was more likely to destroy someone then I was to let them on my back. My bonded were the only ones I allowed on my back willingly. Even Bryce wasn't invited, and I'd already begun allowing him in my inner circle. Calen was waiting by the gate for me. I saw the look on his face, and switched to my human form.

I'd added to my clothes selection. I was wearing a black button up dress shirt, and some flatfooted tennis shoes. My black jean like pants, and long coat made it so that I wasn't showing very much skin. This was the most human I'd looked in a long time. If it weren't for the fact that I was openly telling people that I was a dragon, and that I'd transformed in front of the people in the guild multiple times they might think I was human.

I walked up to him calmly. Passing my bonded on the way. Ethan fell in step just behind me, and to my right. A perfect image of a right hand man. Savannah, and Jax were further behind us, but not far behind.

"What's up?" I shrugged with a false casualness.

"Three requests for your aid from three different guilds," Calen frowned, "Two of them were obviously bullshit. The third is a report of a large group of wyverns. Five confirmed in the flight, but a few were taken down." he paused briefly, "I went down there to confirm it with my own eyes. They definitely have real dead wyverns so I doubt they're lying about the live ones."

"I'm surprised," I followed Calen as he started walking toward the landing pad, "I didn't think you'd put so much work into vetting them for me."

"Well," he sighed, "I can't have my valuable source of income getting killed by some idiot trying to make a name for himself."

"So you have decided to sell my products for me?" I smirked.

"I had to think about it for a while," he glanced at me, "And do some research. But you're right. Your product," he glanced around conspiratorially, "Is incredibly valuable, and my guild does need the income."

We kept on walking in silence. I fell back a few steps to allow Calen to take the lead. It was a sign of respect. At least I felt it was. I didn't know if the others saw it that way.

Not that it mattered to me all that much. The portal was deactivated. I could feel the immense power of the large crystal container behind the portal.

"That's a lot of cores," I whistled, "And they're a good quality."

"They sent them over when I opened the portal the first time," Calen nodded to the container.

I looked around the room casually. It was obvious that this was an older model of portal machine. The room looked like it had been recently cleaned.
