Chapter 337: 2.2

I started helping as well. I was strong enough to lift the vehicles if needed. My wings twitched in the light as I held them half open. I was mostly asked to lift large crates they'd normally need a strength ability user or a forklift to move. I always had one bonded or another nearby.

The humans hesitated to ask me for aid even though I was freely offering it. They would often go to my nearby bonded, and ask them instead of asking me directly. I just let them do as they wished. This was the best I was going to get for now. Humans had learned to distrust all Archaics.

The fact that they were even trying to talk to me was a good start. They were more accepting of my bonded. Although not all of them knew just how tightly connected I was to my friends. My tail flicked as I straightened slowly. It was nearly time.

I moved to join Calen as his translator. The lizardman, and the guild members planned to spread out along the edges of the queens territory. The lizardmen had done a good job of scouting out the area. They weren't all that good at describing it on a map, but that didn't matter much. My wings snapped open fully when I spotted the lizards that had followed us into the sparse trees the night before.

I remembered the errant thought of summoning Gaia as my rage peaked. My wrath ability activated, and I was granted the mana needed for the summoning. The summoning circle startled all those around me. It's white light easy to see even with the blue light of the day. Pulling together into a feminine form of white light before he earthy feminine features became clear for all to see.

The glow fading slowly as she became less ethereal, and more solid. Her feet gently touching the ground before her unbelievable power washed over us all. Her power had grown greatly since the last time I'd seen her. She now had black pupils, and bracelets of light, time, space, and a fourth that looked to be made of steel. They floated about her wrists as her feet gently touched the ground.

"Interesting place to summon me young prince," Gaia smirked, "Although I must warn you that I will not last much longer then the mana I brought with me."

"Young prince?" Calen almost gagged on the words in his surprise.

Murmurs were whispered from the humans around him as word spread. Gaia locked her eyes on the guild leader.

"Yes," her smirk grew into a smile, "Young Wyatt is the dragon prince, and future king of dragons. I am Gaia. Mother of all spirits." she bowed slightly, "I assume that you are a human ally of my master."

The murmurs that rose after she spoke again made me want to shrink. My rage had died the moment she'd called me dragon prince. Her playful take on obedience didn't help either, and I couldn't do anything about it. She was more powerful then me when we first met, and her strength had only grown with the increasing amount of mana on earth. I had a sinking feeling that this still wasn't the peak of her strength.

Her loose relaxed mannerisms suddenly tensed as she looked out over the field of battle.

"So you called me to squash a few bugs," her chilly demeaner cooled the air, "There are too many for me to kill them all, but they seem to have a weakness to water, and their tunnels run deep."

She raised her arms slowly. Her power spread out, and seemed to be amplified. Making the limbs of everyone there tremble under the immense pressure. She was finally using the full strength she had available to her. Those of us more sensitive to mana nearly collapsed under the pressure. Sheer stubbornness was the only thing keeping my head up at the moment.

"I can collapse their tunnels down onto them," Gaia continued as if she didn't notice the effect she had on those around her, "Flood them with the ocean of water below. It'll be easier to kill them as they flee."

Her voice had changed slightly now. Echoing to all that were ready to fight in all languages. I hadn't noticed it at first. Not until the headache kicked in.

"Do it," I snarled.

"This will use all my magic," she looked back at me seriously, "I will not be able to help again until my mana recovers. Even if you summon me again I won't be able to exert this much strength again for some time."

"Do it," I nodded.

The ground cracked, and shook suddenly as if the world was ending. Every warrior there dropped to the ground, and clung to anything nearby that would make it feel as if they weren't going to fall into chasm that was quickly forming in front of them. Those that were at the edges of the chasm were yanked back by the wind itself. Landing safely far from the edges of the drop off. Gaia's power was quickly weakening.

Her mana would run out soon I realized as torrents of water began the fill the bottom of the chasm. Gaia vanished into a poof of white sparkles like glitter falling to the ground. It was another minute before the ground stopped shaking. I was among the first to raise my head to look into the chasm. Dozens of underground rivers were flooding the massive opening.

Even I couldn't see the far side of the chasm before us. It would be a massive lake when it finally filled in. The lizardmen looked so stunned I would have found it funny if it weren't for the angry spiders that started to climb over the edge. It would take time for the chasm to fill with water, and many spiders would flee the water if Gaia was correct. If she was right about them being weak to water then the best thing to do would be to throw them back into the water whenever possible.
