Chapter 497: 13

Teleporting away wasn't a good option either. Wyatt had a stronger spatial affinity than I did. I wasn't even sure it was an affinity anymore. His very presence suppressed my spatial affinity. The only time I'd felt something similar was around the high elves.

The effect he gave off wasn't nearly as strong, but he was getting there. I didn't know what dragons were but now that I'd met one I had something of an understanding of why the elves feared dragon kind. Observation told me that all of these dragons were young. There wasn't much difference between Wyatt, and Aurora age wise. Aurora wasn't even two years old yet.

I had no clue what to think about that. If Wyatt truthfully wasn't that much older than Aurora than there was no doubt that he would grow to be quite powerful given enough time. A year very well might be more than enough time for him to grow into quite the beast. I just didn't know what he planned to do in that year. I headed toward the massive structure that Wyatt had built the night before.

Most of the camp had either moved into the underground housing or the large structure itself. I wasn't sure where Wyatt had gone, but I didn't really care. He'd sworn to get my mother back for me or take revenge for her death if he didn't make it. That was the only hope I had. I was going to hold onto that hope.

Wyatt

I left Sekka to gather his thoughts. I had enough to think about without worrying about keeping myself composed in front of him all the time. I returned to my true form, and flew to the top of the tower with Ethan. I hadn't been able to explain anything to him so far because he was freaking out. He didn't know how he'd been altered.

The way he'd been altered was definitely showing. I needed him to understand what had been done so he could start dealing with it. The part of my soul that was missing still pained me. I knew it would heal eventually. I was sure Ethan was experiencing similar pain.

I folded my wings in close, and looked at him.

"Do you know what happened to you?" I asked.

Ethan looked at me funny.

"What do you mean?" Ethan seemed genuinely confused.

"You haven't figured it out yet," I gripped the stone ledge tightly.

"Figured what out?" he looked up at me with a bit of confusion, "I feel fine."

"You almost killed yourself," I snapped at him, "Do you realize that?" Ethan was surprised by the sudden outburst, "I had to give you a piece of my soul to keep you alive. You drew too much of my power, and now you can't be called entirely human anymore."

"I'm fine really," Ethan stuttered.

"No you're not," I growled, "Haven't you noticed it yet. You can't sense my emotions anymore. Your angry about every little thing for no apparent reason. That's because part of my soul has been grafted onto you. You're alive because part of my soul is grafted onto you. You nearly destroyed your own soul."

The gravity of what he'd done was finally starting to sink in. Ethan looked down at his hands, and then at me again.

"Are you sure because I feel fine?" he sat down on the stone with a stunned look on his face.

"I injured myself to keep you alive," I flared my wings, "I'm still in pain."

Ethan stared at his hands for a while as he digested what I'd told him. I was kind of surprised he hadn't noticed all the changes that had happened to his body. His pupils were catlike like my own. He gave off mana now instead of that air of strength that he'd had before. His core was incredibly weak, but I could still sense the unusual mana coming off of it.

I would have thought he would have noticed the fact that he couldn't feel my emotions anymore. We could still communicate. We'd proved that several times. I could sense the state his body was in, and chances were he could sense the state my body was in as well. I tapped my talons on the stone as I thought about what I would do next.

My first priority was the meeting I'd set up with the military. That cease fire would do me a lot of good even if it was only for a year. I looked down the side of the structure to the ground below. There wasn't a single tent still standing out in the weather. All of them had moved into the hollow mountain.

Aurora joined us at the top of the hollow mountain. Her talons clicked on the stone as she walked over to me. Laying down next to me as she tried to see what I was looking at.

"What do you want Aurora?" I glanced over to her.

"I wanted to see what you were looking at," she tried lying to me.

"You're not very good at lying Aurora," I curled my tail up slowly.

Making a slow loop so I could slap it down if she tried lying to me again I could slam my tail down.

"You are the oldest of us," Aurora sighed, "And you will be mine. Forgive me if I want to be close to you while I can."

Ethan chuckled at what she said.

{You didn't say anything about her claiming you to be hers} Ethan continued sniggering along mentally as well.

{Why would I say anything?} I snapped at him mentally {It really isn't any of your business.}

"Aurora," I spoke to her verbally while scolding Ethan mentally, "Please don't speak to me in that way in the presence of others. Keep in mind that I have no intention of accepting your affections until you mature."

Both of them were thoroughly sobered up after being lectured. I was hoping that the next five days would pass quickly. My plan was to use the rescue operation as a gesture of good faith. A way of solidifying our alliance. The thing was I didn't know enough about politics to draft a proper agreement.
