Chapter 534: 11

"I promised to eat you alive didn't I?" I laughed into the night.

My black scales glinting in the night. The aura of fear coming off the man in my grip intensified.

"Keep struggling, and you might force me to break my promise," I tossed him in the air like a cat playing with its food.

Ripping a leg off as he came down. Bringing a fresh wave of screams from the guy. I tossed his broken armor aside as I tore him apart. I finished my little snack, and moved on to the main course. It didn't take me long to find an edible beast in the forest.

I only found out that that beast was poisonous after I'd already consumed half of it. The poison barely affected me. I stretched my wings out slowly, and flapped twice to loosen them. It would be better for me to lay a false trail that this black wyvern blazed before I returned. It took me a few minutes to create a believable double, and for my main body to return to human form.

I had based the spell off Letty's ability to create doubles. It took half my focus to control the double. It would be difficult for me to recreate the rune that allowed me to teleport back into the city with half my focus diverted. That double would continue flying until the mana I imbued it with ran out. I teleported back to the shitter as soon as I finished retracing the rune that allowed me to teleport unnoticed within the city.

I'd been gone for nearly two hours, but no one had dared to mess with my private time that entire time. There was even a line waiting outside of the shitter. I moved back to my secluded spot on the bench, and sat quietly. Now that I'd returned people rushed to use the shitter. Some going in as pairs.

I leaned back into the wall, and pretended I'd never left. The last guard didn't care enough for the behavior of these slaves to check on them at all so I got to do whatever I wanted for a while. Someone came to retrieve me less then five minutes later. I'd known I cut it close when I saw daylight on the horizon. Sekka probably already knew what I'd done by now.

He was probably going to pitch a fit when he realized the full extent of what I did. I avoided looking at him as much as possible when we joined back up. I could see irritation, and a bit of annoyance in his aura. I ignored it. I probably should have acknowledged what I did in some way, but now was not the time.

We traveled through the city for most of the day attempting to sell our wares. The spatial element made it possible for people to attack cities nearby with ease. I maintained control over the double for most the day as well. Wreaking havoc with the mana that remained within the double. I may have given the double more mana then I originally thought.

We managed to sell some of the crystals we had in stock. Even one of the higher quality ones. Money wise we'd be set for the rest of the month. We still had over a dozen more venders we could still sell to. We also managed to find an inn that would allow us to stay so we didn't have to deal with that hostile lord again.

"How much did he take?" I asked as I sat in the chair next to the door in the room we'd rented out for the next few days.

"Half our cores," Sekka shrugged from where he sat on the bed, "You did something last night didn't you?"

This was the first time we'd been alone so this was the first chance he'd gotten to ask me.

"Don't worry," I shrugged, "They can't track it back to us."

"Of course I'm worried," Sekka snapped at me angrily, "You're the one that pushed the secrecy, and importance of us going unnoticed."

"That lord pissed me off beyond reason," I crossed my arms over my chest defensively.

"I understand," Sekka sighed heavily, "But you can't act on those impulses."

"Who say's we can't?" I cracked my neck, "We just can't get caught."

"What makes you think we won't get caught?" Sekka looked at me with irritation in his eyes.

"I can make doubles of myself," I smirked, "I just have to be seen at the same time as the fox."

"Making doubles isn't that rare an ability," he argued.

"It is in humans," I leaned back in my chair.

That was my big argument winning statement. I felt real proud of myself for a few minutes as I stared at Sekka's dumbfounded silence. He pulled his legs up on the bed so he was sitting with his legs crossed on the bed. I could perfectly mimic the aura of a human without even having to think about it. After all of Letty's training it was one of the easier things I'd learned that I could do without really needing to think.

Even creating runes was harder for me. A simple rune took me about a minute to formulate. Even with my split focus I could only create two or three at a time. The more complicated ones took five minutes or longer for me to properly weave, but the nice thing about rune magic was once a rune was properly crafted they could be held. My current record for how many runes I'd managed to hold, and keep stable was nearly twenty, and that was with only half my focus.

If I didn't need to move I'd be able to hold even more. I smirked to myself as I watched Sekka continue thinking it over.

"That's actually not a bad idea," Sekka finally agreed after some time, "If you can pull it off."

"It takes me about an hour to create a double," I leaned forward slightly, "They last as long as they have mana."
