Chapter 64: Last Snowfall
Walking in the streets of The King's City, Loraine did not know how she ended up all the way over here. The past weeks, she had locked herself up in her room. Angry about the whole forced engagement and marriage, he did not know what to do. Even though her father begged her to get out, she had no motivation to do anything anymore. Even now, she was walking lifeless on the streets of the capital.
The only one that could actually understand her situation was Kara. She was thus also accompanying her on the streets. Looking at Kara, Loraine noticed that her mouth was moving, yet for some reason, Loraine did not hear any voice. It felt as she was deaf since what had happened.
"Loraine! There you go again. You keep on dazing off all the time." Kara said as she shook up Loraine. Looking at her face, Kara noticed that the face of Loraine was lifeless. It was the first time she saw Loraine again in over a month. Apparently the effect of what would happen still lingered around in the mind of Loraine.
Loraine felt her hand was being dragged towards a certain direction. She did not protest against Kara, who did this. As she was in a state where she did not care anymore what happened, she just let it all go.
After a while, they stopped in front of a colorful store. Loraine remembered that store. It was filled with delicious pastries. Normally she would love to have some of them, however now she felt as if she had no power to enjoy anything. Her life was upside down. Nothing in this life could bring her any enjoyment anymore.
To not disappoint Kara, Loraine entered the store together with her. Sitting emotionless on one of the benches, Loraine just stared outside of the window. At that point she heard her name being called out, "Loraine! What do you want to eat? Should I get a carrot cake?" Looking at the one calling out, she saw Kara.
Without even opening her mouth, Loraine just nodded towards Kara and then returned looking back outside of the window. She saw the beautiful white snow fall from the sky. The only thing she had in her mind was, "How is James doing? How will I face him ones he returns?"
As those thoughts were in her mind, Loraine heard someone sit across of her and place a plate in front of her. Seeing Kara sitting there, Loraine ones again noticed her mouth move. She had a worried expression as she was looking towards Loraine.
Not sure what Kara said, Loraine just nodded as she picked up a fork to pick up a piece of the food that was in front of her.
Looking ones more outside, she noticed something surprising. The snowfall had seized to exist. For the first time the expression on her face changed. Looking surprised outside, she looking towards the skies, as she saw a ray of sunlight shining between the clouds.
Seeing this beautiful view, her heartbeat started to race one more. "James would return soon! She would see James ones more!" Those thoughts filled her mind with happiness. Looking back at Kara Loraine had a happy expression as she said, "I have to go back! James will return soon! I have to get ready for him!"
With those words, Loraine stood up as she made her way to the exit.
