Chapter 19: Through the singing river
The ride through the wild forest was a lot easier than expected, after a long calm and exciting ride they successfully made it to the singing river.
Uphead a thick fog vieled the surface of the river hazing their vision. It was almost improbable to find the bridge across.
"Where's the bridge?"
"There's no way through"
"I thought you said there was a bridge, it's all water"
The group members panicked when they saw the fog.
"Yoorim, what should we do now?" Ji-soo asked Yoorim privately.
"Follow me" Yoorim commanded and led them towards the left side of the river.
Other members stared at each other skeptically before following closely after Yoorim until they found the bridge.
Everyone awed at how Yoorim was able to find the bridge. Ji-soo smiled when she remembered Yoorim's heightened senses, luckily it came in handy.
The bridge was an ancient,fragile and narrow bridge, it looked like it would snap at any moment.
It was obvious they couldn't go on it with their horses so they all decided to tie their horse in a nearby bush closely together.
The bridge could only carry people sparsely at a a time. "When Hari goes ten steps on the bridge, the next person follows and that applies to everyone okay? and that's how we will cross the bridge".
As the name implied the singing river was known for its ability to sing, it was said that as one goes further on the bridge,they would hear a beautiful melodious tune and if they should hum or sing along to it, they would become hypnotized by an unknown power that causes one to hallucinate and do things they normally couldn't have done.
"Remember, don't sing or hum to any song you hear, close your ears with your hands if you must" Ji-soo warned before they begun crossing the bridge. It's steps were rickety and unstable that at every step they took, they bridge creaked in response.
Carefully and meticulously they crossed the bridge until they arrived Mount Ri.
"Phew" they sighed when Yoorim who was the last person joined them.
"Hari please lead the way" Yoorim instructed Hari forward.
Hari was gifted with abilities to sense energy, Yoorim made sure that she had exercised her abilities often and now it was time to put it to good use.
"This way" her light voice spoke up after a minute of short silence. They all followed quietly behind her as she led them deeper into the mountain.
They kept going farther and farther till they came across a huge fallen log obstructing their path, they stood there contemplating on either climbing over the log or attempting to push it.
"There are some people surrounding us" Yoorim interrupted their discussion.
"Everyone, don't be alarmed and just be on your..." Before she could finish her statement, three masked men spring out of the nearby bush where they may have been hiding.
