Chapter 12: Demon Generals
Dah, after returning triumphant, was greeted by Raphael (the minister), and Annabelle. They had prepared a great feast in his honor to be held tonight in the massive banquet hall.
'A feast' Dah wondered what kind of foods they would have prepared for him. Up until this point he had been eating various meats, fruits, and nuts. Although the foods in this world were fairly similar to what he was used to he found he had to consume nearly four times the amount that he used to. Whether this was due to his larger size, or use of mana, or a combination of the two he was consistently hungry.
The feast was more then just a celebration of his achievements. It also served as the time where he would meet some of his generals and the previous Demon Lords most trusted advisors. In order to ensure unity among his men and prevent any seeds of discord from growing he would need to make a good impression.
Dah had little time before the feast began. Needing to make every minute count he wanted to do some research beforehand, asking Annabelle and the minister to follow them he ended up walking into the throne room and sitting down on the throne.
Nodding towards the minister, "Please inform me about who will be there."
Raphael began, "The three demon generals that will be answering our summons is; Lucius, Xarros, and Catera." he continued.
"Lucius is probably the most powerful of the three he wields many spells and his physical combat skills are nearly uncontested, due to the large number of souls he has absorbed over the years. Lucius is also a well known and respected general having fought in many battles throughout his lifetime. Usually using a brute force in the face of overwhelming odds method he has made quite an impression on the bordering nations with his displays of savagery that defied explanation."
"Likely Lucius would have been the next Demon Lord if it weren't for me" Dah thought with a realization.
"Xarros, while still possessing demonlike fighting capabilities, true abilities aren't in physical or spell combat. He is one of the few demons of our age that is truly a brilliant strategist. He has been known to flip battles on their side before with his quick and forward thinking. He also possesses great leadership abilities and his minions follow him unquestioningly."
"One moment" Dah had the minister pause his explanation. "This just occurred to me but I haven't met a minion yet. What do they look like?"
"Ah" the minister nodding agreeably explained, "They are on the shorter side, the tallest among them standing around 5 feet tall. However though they have fierce physical capabilities, powerful chests, arms, and legs. They fight not for the gain but for sadistic pleasure and honors. Their mates are determined by how well they fight in battle. Although they are fierce in all physical aspects they fall well below average intellectually. Therefore resulting in few of their race ever having been able to wield a rank one spell. There are currently none that can do so within our ranks."
"The final general Catera is a bit mysterious. She..." the minister stopped his explanation as one of the servants approached him.
"My lord, my apologies. However our guests are beginning to arrive"
Nodding amicably Dah went to his room to get dressed in something better suited for the feast taking Annabelle with him for her assistance he left the minister in charge of greeting the guests.
Raphael gave one last bit of advice as he left, "The generals can be a bit… overwhelming. Don't forget you are the Demon Lord and to stand your ground."

Dah no longer embarrassed to be dressing in front of Annabelle quickly stripped as she helped him find a suitable outfit.
'It seems demons don't care about nudity' as he in fact also had found himself uncaring.
Annabelle on the other hand was doing everything in her willpower not to care.
'It's entirely natural for a demon to be attracted to power" she chided herself glancing at Dah, "especially when power comes in a package such as this.' She couldn't help but bite her lip as she looked away.
Dah unknowing of her internal struggle remained oblivious as he continued getting ready. Pulling on his clothes he did look like a Demon Lord. He was dressed in black straight cut pants with a red long sleeve shirt. The red shirt accentuated his powerful arms and strong chest while also painting a fierce contrast with his jet black hair.
He smiled at Annabelle after he was ready with a grin that would make the holiest of women tremble in anticipation.
Unfortunately for her she was not a holy woman. Blushing profusely at the smile, she stuttered out a compliment. Looking at her with piercing eyes he realized something. That Annabelle was indeed a beautiful demon and they were alone in his bedchambers while he dressed. He knew she was admiring him... and he liked it.
'Alas no time to act on any type of impulse now'
"Time to go", he stated simply.
"Yes my lord", Annabelle agreed as she followed him out the door to the banquet hall.

Entering the banquet hall he found it less then entertaining. Indeed there were very few individuals within and they were standing apart from each other barely speaking. Perhaps in anticipation of Dah's arrival or perhaps because they did not get along. Unknowing of the reason Dah had no choice but to make a bold proclamation.
Just as Dah was about to do this Raphael cleared his voice loudly. What little conversation there had been within the hall ceased immediately. Clearly despite his appearances Raphael was well respected.
"To our new Demon Lord Dah'guud!" Raphael exclaimed while holding a goblet up in the air.
To Dah's surprise, without hesitation, the guests at the hall also raised their glasses and shouted, "To Dah'guud!"
