Chapter 21: Arrest

"Arrest?" Mom was speechless too.

"Mrs has been charged with a series of fraud, blackmailing and threats, use of fake evidence to frame the Willingham family, and also, defamation of character." The policeman said.

My eyes grew wider with every word.

"That's nonsense! I did not commit any of this!" I yelled.

"You have the right to remain silent.

Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." They said putting a cuff around my wrist.

"No, no, you are mistaken," Mom tried to stop them.

"You have the right to an attorney.

If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you.

Do you understand these rights?"

"Please, don't take her! She's innocent!" Mom cried out.

"It's okay mom, it's fine. Calm down," I said, trying my best to be composed.

"I can't calm down till they let go of you!" She said. They were leading me out of the house and she followed.
