Chapter 22: Daven Is Back

… Daven's POV…

I didn't know why, but I was desperate to meet her, to see her face and ask her why?

Getting Adriana arrested for all the false accusations is not the end of all this drama and I know it. I won't rest until I find out who she's working for and what they were after.

I went straight to the police officer's desk, the man.was buried in whatever it was he was doing on his phone.

"Officer,"

"Oh, Mr Willigham," He stood up quickly, then stretched his hands for a shake.

"I've been expecting you." He smiled. "She's over there," He said, pointing to where the cells were arranged.

I walked past them and stopped only when I had gotten to where she was.

She was seated on the floor, her face looking down. The low sound of her sobs rang in my ears; it felt as if I was being pierced by spikes.

I shook my head, warning myself to stop the pitying. She deserves it after all.
