Chapter 4: Blue and Oak

Blue is both a childhood friend and a rival of Red.

They were born on the same day, in the same month, and in the same year, as if by fate.

Blue was born into a wealthy family, with parents who worked far away, while his grandfather is a renowned Pokémon professor known around the world.

This background unintentionally gave Blue an arrogant personality, causing him to look down on others.

Given this attitude, no one would expect that Blue would become friends with someone who is quiet and has never spoken before.

Red.

The two are as close as brothers, always by each other's side and hanging out together. Their friendship is beautiful.

During a summer camp organized by Professor Oak, Red went missing, which made Blue extremely anxious. He even called the adults useless for not being able to find Red.

With a personality like his, it's understandable that he isn't well-liked in town, but he doesn't care.

It's undeniable that he is a tsundere when it comes to Red.

"What are you thinking?" Blue asked, noticing Red deep in thought.

"..."

"Thinking about the past?"

"..."

"Oh, I see! WAIT A MINUTE, YOU JERK! WHY ARE YOU REMEMBERING THAT EMBARRASSING MEMORY?!" Blue exclaimed, blushing as he looked at Red.

Only Blue understands what Red is trying to say, even though Red is as silent as a rock.

"..."

"Grandpa is in the forest, he just found a Pokémon from Johto and decided to observe it. Why don't you go check it out?"

"..."

"Go together? Are you crazy? Who would want to go with you?" Although he said this, Blue walked ahead of Red.

Knowing his friend's personality, Red followed him.

The two opened the door, but Blue stopped halfway.

"...?"

Seeing Blue halt, Red looked ahead to see what was there.

It was Cuckmaster, whose head was currently stuck in the ground.

"..." Both were silent as Blue turned to look at Red.

"Do you know this clown?"

"..." Red shook his head, trying to act like he didn't know him.

Seeing this, Blue turned and kicked Cuckmaster in the rear.

"AGH!"

Cuckmaster got up, his face dirty and covered in dirt.

"Hey! That hurt dude!!" Cuckmaster pointed at Blue.

Blue looked at him with disdain and walked past without saying a word.

"W-What? Why does no one respect me??" Cuckmaster said angrily, then turned to Red.

Red clasped his hands in an apologetic gesture and walked by.

"At least someone cares, but he's mute..."

As Blue continued, he saw a girl with pink hair poking at a Caterpie with a stick.

"This caterpillar doesn't look very pretty, but if you look closely, it's quite cute, Fairygoth!"

"Yeah," Fairygoth mumbled from behind a bush, only responding with a few murmurs.

"Don't be scared! That one was a caterpillar too, right?" (No.)

"Uh..."

Blue looked at the two girls, wondering if he had seen them before.

He moved on and spotted a black-haired guy chatting happily with his sister.

"Honestly, I think you're really beautiful."

"Oh, thank you~ You're so young, yet you have such a sweet mouth!"

"Thanks, and you're only three years older than me, right?"

"..." Blue froze as he saw that guy flirting with his sister; he clenched his fists and his face turned tense.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING TO MY SISTER?!?"

"Huh?"

A punch landed on Bob's cheek, sending him flying a few times before crashing into a nearby tree.

"B-Blue! Why did you hit him like that?!"

"Then why did you let him flirt as if it were perfectly normal?!"

"Well... when I went outside, he came to talk to me. I didn't expect that after chatting for a while, he would start saying romantic things..."

Noticing her sister's slightly embarrassed expression, Blue realized she had fallen for him.

Blue was nearly furious and was about to go beat that guy up so he would never show his face again.

Seeing this, Red panicked and quickly stopped him, while Bob got up and rubbed his cheek.

Bob glared at Blue with an angry expression.

"What a damn NPC! I flirted just a little, and you hit me? Is he a siscon or something?"

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!"

"What?! Does this NPC understand what I'm saying?" Bob was startled, looking at Blue, who was getting angrier by the second.

Red was starting to feel exhausted; he silently begged someone to intervene and stop this...

"This is the forest outside the town, huh..."

Rey looked around, noticing many strange creatures.

There were two insects, a purple mouse, and a bird.

"These creatures are all cute in their own way..."

Rey continued walking, completely unaware that a creature was watching him intently from behind.

"Huh?"

Rey noticed an old man in a lab coat lying on the ground, looking at something.

As Rey was about to approach, suddenly, a bird swooped down to attack him.

"What?!" Rey was startled as the bird aimed to attack him again from behind.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch!!"

The bird pecked him on the head, and he tried to push the bird away with his hands, but it didn't help much.

Suddenly, a needle shot out from the bushes, attacking the bird.

The bird was hit and turned to face the creature hiding in the bushes.

Rey was startled to realize that the creature hiding in the bushes was the Weedle he had fed.

It was scared but bravely attacked the bird, making it angry.

The bird was about to dive in to eat the insect when a voice rang out:

"Butterfree, use Gust!"

A small whirlwind appeared, striking the bird and causing it to fly away in fear.

Rey felt the danger had passed and looked at the beautiful butterfly.

"Hey, kid, are you alright?" The old man approached and helped him up.

"Th-Thank you," he said, looking at the old man and then at the Butterfree beside him.

"May I ask... who are you?"

"Huh? Is this the first time you've met me?"

"Uh, yes..."

"No worries, no worries! My name is Oak, just a regular Pokémon professor!"

Chapter 5: Starter pokémon

"That's strange, I've never seen your guys before, yet you all have trainer ID cards and are registered to receive starter Pokémon," Oak said, looking at the players.

Currently, their was in the Pokémon lab, with Red and Blue standing next to each other, watching the five players.

Red still remained silent, while Blue clearly showed his irritation.

"Is something wrong?" NTRslayer asked, confused.

"Oh no, having certification means you're entitled to receive starter Pokémon, I just didn't expect so many people to come for them today," Oak scratched his head.

Earlier, when Oak brought NTRslayer back to town, Red had gathered them together and asked them to show their ID cards.

At that moment, Blue nearly lost his composure when he found out that these five clowns were registered to receive starter Pokémon.

For him, being on the same level as them felt like an insult, especially that black-haired guy!

"So are we considered unknowns?" Farmqueen whispered to the other four.

"It's just like the other games from this company; they probably went for an isekai theme."

"Really? All the other games from this company have that in common?" Cuckmaster scratched his head.

"Have you never played any before?"

"Yeah, this is my first game."

"...Are you really someone from the countryside?"

"I told you already, didn't I? You guys don't believe me?"

The group whispered among themselves while Oak was deep in thought.

It was quite unfortunate that there were only six starter Pokémon in the lab: three from the Kanto region and three traded from Johto.

With seven trainers present, it meant that one person would not receive a starter Pokémon.

Oak always treated everyone fairly; if one person couldn't receive a starter Pokémon, he would offer another Pokémon. Unfortunately, that Pokémon's potential would certainly not be as strong as the trio of starter Pokémon.

Blue noticed the thoughtful expression on Oak's face and approached him.

"Is something wrong, Grandpa?"

Oak looked at his grandson and sighed.

"The thing is... there aren't enough starter Pokémon. If I send a letter to the League for more Pokémon, it would take about a month, and a month from now is when the League will be organizing battles between trainers."

"WHAT?!" Blue's eyes widened as he looked at his grandfather.

The players overheard and began to whisper among themselves.

"This game has such a creative setting! From the strange creatures to this League thing!"

"The previous games had a magic theme, so that was somewhat understandable, but this one is completely different."

"I'm so excited! This game has both pet-raising and battles; it's really something new!"

Red thought for a moment, looking at the players and then at Professor Oak before making a decision.

He approached Professor Oak, and both Oak and Blue noticed that Red was trying to say something.

"What's up, Red?"

"..."

"WHAT?! ARE YOU CRAZY?! WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE UP THEIR STARTER POKÉMON FOR THOSE PEOPLE?!" Blue shouted, glaring at the five players.

"That's rude, I haven't done anything to him."

"Didn't you flirt with his sister? Because of that, he has a pretty bad impression of us."

"That's not my fault! How was I supposed to know all the NPCs would be so attractive?"

"This isn't some gal game, you idiot!"

Red calmly smiled, which only made Blue angrier.

He considered Red to be his brother and rival, yet these guys showed up, and Red was willing to give up his opportunity for them.

He couldn't accept this at all, everyone knew how powerful and potential starter Pokémon were. He had been preparing to battle Red once they both had their own Pokémon.

Yet, Red was giving that chance to someone else.

Blue's anger grew, he looked at the players and speculated that there must be a reason Red was treating them so well.

Could it be... were they threatening Red?!!

That was unacceptable! Once he had his own Pokémon, he would destroy them for daring to threaten Red!!!

Red had no idea what Blue was thinking. He glanced at Professor Oak, who had his hand on his chin.

Oak knew that Red had incredible potential as a Pokémon trainer, so not giving him a starter Pokémon would be a waste.

But seeing Red's determined expression, Oak sighed.

"Hey, do you know what the guide is saying to them?"

"Bruh, our guide hasn't said anything, yet they still understand. Is there a sound issue or something?"

"Every time something goes wrong, you scream glitch or bug, why don't you ask someone in the town, and you'll find out if our guide is really mute or if there's a problem?"

"Why are you blaming me?! This is still a beta version!"

"Alright then," Oak walked over to a machine, took out six Poké Balls, and placed them on the table.

He then grabbed another ball with a lightning bolt design and handed it to Red.

"This is a Pokémon I caught a few days ago; it seems stronger than others of its kind but is very disobedient. If you want it, I'll give it to you."

Seeing this, Red smiled and accepted the ball.

Oak was pleased and then addressed the players and Blue.

"Please choose your own Pokémon. Among these six Pokémon, there are two Fire types, two Water types, and two Grass types."

Hearing this, everyone was extremely excited, and everyone wanted to step forward. However, before anyone could act, Blue walked up and took a Pokémon.

"I choose this one."

Initially, he intended to choose a Pokémon that would counter Red's, but since Red abandoned that option and picked another, he selected the Pokémon he felt was most suitable.

Yes, suitable for defeating those guys!

He tossed the Poké Ball into the air, and it opened, emitting a red light that revealed an incredibly cute Water-type turtle.

Squirtle.

"..."

Everyone gaped in awe at the Squirtle being held by Blue, its cuteness so overwhelming that Fairygoth, who was staring at it, fainted on the spot.

"Oh no!! Don't faint here?!"

"Call for an ambulance!!"

"She may look cold, but why does she faint at the sight of something cute?!"

Blue watched the players being a clown before turning to Red.

"Don't regret your decision later, Red!" Blue said straightforwardly.

Red smiled, ready to fist-bump Blue.

Blue stared at Red and then fist-bumped him back.

Oak watched the two with an amused smile.
