Chapter 156: EPISODE 46: Tower!*

Despite the failure, the executives have given the three of us a day off. After all, Charlotte has pleased the four of them through the two pieces which were given by the elder who vowed to protect the mirage of ice. Combining the first three pieces, the puzzle somehow looks like a deformed mountain. Perhaps with the other pieces, it would be easier to comprehend.

The three of us have made the decision to spend the day off in the city of Ecruteak. According to Virgo and her trusty books, Ecruteak is one of the oldest cities in the region of Johto. Houses are old-fashioned, as so as the other buildings. The cafes and restaurants have an old-fashioned Japanese ambiance to it, including their food and drinks. In this city, the harmonious zephyr could be felt. A galore of flowers is also present in the city. They hang above trees, houses, spurt above earthly soil.

The leaves are painted in yellow and orange as they dance down the trees and shrubs. The people live harmoniously with the Pokemons, sharing the city's bounty of harvests of fruits, vegetables, and the best amongst all, are the flowers that the famous Japanese Pagoda Tree has to offer.

This city is famous for such kind of tree wherein according to statistics, the Japenese Pagoda only grows in the city of Ecruteak, when only referring to the Johto Region. Upon our arrival in the city, the first place we travel to is the famous tea-house, ran by the so-called Kimono girls of the city.

They also have a dance theater, and are known to be strong trainers. They are five sisters who apparently love Eevees. Their dress is the finest, sewed out of the thinnest cloth. Their dress is a symbol of the traditions and cultures of Ecruteak, giving their apparel a vibrant look.

They are kind enough to offer some of their delicacies such as their Shincha and Gyokuro tea. It is my first time to taste such tea before, and it was superb and delicious indeed. Although hot, the teas are a blend of sweetness and bitterness... It's bitter-sweet!

It quenches my thirst, making my body energized and healthy. It was a thrill to be able to taste some delicacies native to the city. Not even Kanto offers those kinds of teas. As the two of them drink their tea, I went out of the house(tea-house) for a moment in order to explore the city by myself, after all, I'm finished drinking my tea.

"Don't go too far!" Charlotte bids, waving at me as I leave the tea-house. I smile and wave back at her.

The city is splendid, you could really feel the cold zephyr touching the skin. The zephyr travels throughout the city, blowing the leaves of golden brown. I make my way to the north of the city, wherein a tower of old piques my interest. I stand still in front of it, gazing on its marvelous presence.

The tower is worn-out. Pieces of burnt wood and planks could be seen everywhere. Despite that, it still seems interesting to me. I know for sure that this tower contains a history of old, known by the locals of the region, for why would they preserve such a tower in the first place if it has no importance?

"I know. The tower seems to pique my interest as well." A man snaps me back to reality. I wake up from the tower's lull and tilt to my left to see a cunning man with brown hair. His eyes are crystal blue and he wears a formal apparel of purple with a red bow tie. He also has a cape of white.

"My name is Eusine. And you are?" He introduces himself, staring at the bell tower with me.

"Luna Evergreen."

"Ah, such a fine name it is, glad to meet you, Luna. It seems that you are interested in the bell tower, aren't you?"

"I'm not from around here. This is my first time to see a city preserve such a worn-out structure. That is why it piques my interest." I reply, keeping my eyes locked unto the marvelous tower.

"I see, I am of Kanto too, specifically Celadon City. We are similar, for both of us are attracted to Johto's finest and famous history. A legend surrounds the tower."

"A... A legend?!"

"Long ago, at a traditional town in central Johto, there stood a great tower. The tower was a testament to the bond between humans and their Pokemon partners. Three brotherly trainers and their Pokemon, very majestic hounds, called this tower their home.

One fateful winter, during the darkest of nights, a storm appeared as if wind and rain were directed by a monstrous destructive shadow. The trainers, caught above the flames, rushed to the bell atop the tower, hoping for help from the local villagers. In their efforts to quench the flames, their Pokemon perished and the trainers did not survive long after. All hope for the town's pride and joy was lost, as far as any eye could tell.

Amidst ember and ash, the trainers died, and their prized hounds lay limp atop the rubble. Then, as if a rainbow after a storm, a gracious bird of legendary might appeared above the last of the flames. Moved by the efforts of its fallen brethren Pokemon, the bird released a large sum of its power upon the three hounds. Out of the blessed ashes, one by one, the hounds were revived as the beasts known in lore.

Entei, borne out of the flames that engulfed the tower. Raikou, borne out of the lightning that sparked the flame. Suicune, borne out of the efforts of the icy allies who quenched that same flame. Yet, in fear of the newborn power in three beasts the people of the town rejected and drove away the hounds. That is why they roam, forever searching for the spirits of their former trainers, for they knew not of their masters' terrible fates. Years passed, and the story passed down by the town's forefathers became legend, and over time, the legend seemed nothing more than a myth."

"Interesting. Is there more information about the three Pokemons?"

"Yes, that is why I am here today. I want to know more about the three Pokemons the embody the tower during the time of its agony. The Pokemon that symbolizes the lightning that struck the tower, the fire that engulfed it, and the rain that extinguished the tower. Where could these three Pokemons be?

The Bell Tower is known as a connection between people and Ho-Oh, but that was cut off after being burned. This is what is left of the famous Bell Tower." He replies.

Three Pokemons reborn from ashes, such powerful Ho-Oh is. Just like Eusine, the further I learn about the history of Ecruteak, the more interested I become. I want to meet the three Pokemons whom I assume are legends as well. Perhaps Lugia and Ho-Oh are not the only legends of Johto. There is more than what my limited knowledge has.
