/ Fantasy / My Servant Is An Elf Knight From Another World

Synopsis
It was just like any other day, or so I thought at least. The birds were chirping up on trees, clouds were rolling by the bright blue sky and Elves were dumpster diving in the alleyway.
Okay, one of those three didn't sound right...
I had a boring life once. Recently though, it has become less boring... to put it one way.
Finding a random Elf in the dumpster? Heh, must be a Monday.
A normal person would have walked by. A normal person would have ignored it.
I must be a pretty weird guy, then.
Now I have this Elf swearing her allegiance to me. What's next, vampires?
Better not jinx it.

Write a reviewAn absolutely fantastic read, that always has me wishing that the fabled time for an update would come ever faster. A concept that utilizes your generic and common tropes in this style of a story and then takes it high heavens with its masterful story-telling. I wasn't much a fan of a first-person narration before. This, however, completely changed my outlook on things. The characters are well-written, the stories well fleshed out leaving me a happy and content reader. Well, shy of an even faster upload schedule but I guess perfection takes time to write, and I'm willing to wait. Definitely recommended! [img=recommend]
Came for the harem tag..... Expecting love comedy or what-not, but nah only serious things happening.... sooo I'm leaving I guess, but here 5 star for elf.
This honestly has no business being a free read with how good it is. Trust papa Djab-Djab and go read it - it will be your loss if you don't.
The story is structure and Quality wise absolutely up there. Even if a few more position marker for scene changes would be nice. The bad rating has therefore only one major reason and that is the lack of the correct Tags for the story or a mention in the Description. I don't know at what point the story is to be comedy or Romance. All I found was, Tragedy, Heartbreak. As Beta Simp of an MC, depiction of Torture or Abuse. At no point do the Tags mirror this, i normally stay away from those story's because I don't like this over dramatic plot. So is the story bad? No for a Dark - Romance type of story it would be ok, but it not what I was locking for and not what I wanted
Unfortunately this isn’t my cup of tea. I thought it was interesting at first then after a few chapters became bored with it. At the beginning I was lead to believe that the MC was normal but later the MC was anything but normal. The Mafia that was giving MC so much trouble at the first few chapters has now became betches of the MC’s mysterious Dad. As for the MC? Personally I very much dislike this western goody tow shoes MC, not as repugnant as Japanese Beta male MC but I still dislike it nonetheless. I think that Korean novels generally has the best MC. Not the most terrible novel but for me there’s just too many logic hoops to jump through to enjoy this novel.
Reveal SpoilerIf you came here for a JP-like fluffy, comedy, slice-of-life novel about a random dude living with a hot elf, then look no further, cause that's exactly what you'll get....... for a couple of chapters - and then it'll go all in on grim-dark despair. Overall, Elf-story (shortform for this novel's long ass title), is really well written. It has good humor, narration, exposition, pacing, witty dialogue, and multi-dimensional characters with fleshed out backgrounds. So, all's well that ends well? Unfortunately, and this is my personal opinion, the story just got too dark too quickly - and theres too much of it without any sunshine (read:fluff/romance/light heartedness/happy moments/etc). This, combined with a beta, spineless, and indecisive MC (who we never get to know the name of), simply began to annoy me more and more. I came here for a fluffy elf-chan comedy story, then I was pleasantly surprised with deeper and darker plot, but then it became tedious reading about a never evolving relationship, pitifully spineless MC, and constant dark-upon-dark developments, where the story is going from one crisis to another. I hope that in the future plot can include some more romance, where Ash (elf-chan) and MC kiss, make up, do gf+bf stuff - and no, don't tear them apart with some stupid deus-ex machina plot machinations the next chapter to prove their love or some other random bullshit reasoning. Keep them together, and have them develop together for the fluff in the dark. In short, fluff is good, but lately too much dark and crisis combined with a constantly spineless MC is becoming tedious to read.
Overall it's a mostly decent story. Interesting World building, some really intriguing concepts, and some really cool side characters. However the big weakness of this book is the MC: He starts as a whiny, overthinking, self pitying, and overall very negative person. Which normally wouldn't be a problem except for one little detail: the Author drags Character development out WAY too long. After 187 chapters, the Character development can be called "slightly there" at best, and despite several life altering events that *should* improve the Character in a positive direction to a larger degree considering how jarring they are, the MC barely changes. Now, I'm not really an advocate of MCs who have drastic changes of personality practically overnight, this author has swung the pendulum too far to the other end, given the start state of the character in my opinion. TLDR; the Book is Good but, MC personality is that of a garbage human being, and takes too long (in my opinion at least) to improve
why does the girl in the cover remind me of a hentai ive read .................................................................................................
Slightly confused at what im reading. Im at chapter 205 and literally the world building of this novel leaves much to desire. The premise of the book definitely starts off on a high note but at some point as a reader you literally say aloud “wtf is going on?!”. Theres no foreshadowing to speak of, the mc deviates between natural speech to prim and proper “ye old english” with bits of slang thrown in here and there and to cap it all of… the MC Is the stereotypical beta character who is 90% of his time thinking self deprecating thoughts but “some how” will pull the occasional confidence out nowhere. I find myself asking myself is he weak, irresponsible, secretly clever or just dense. i understand the mechanics of how a flawed character should behave as there are plenty of light novels that have this character motif of weak to strong (i.e second coming of Gluttony, Devils Son in Law, etc) but this MC leaves me literally flabbergasted. Its not a bad novel per se but i feel the MC is tryibg hard at being something he isnt. Eventually i will come back to this book perhaps but for me personally i just think unless you can deal with a typical beta MC who maybe through some past life act of valor (saving a universe, stopping Thanos’s snap, or defeating truck-kun) somehow ended up in a harem but not a harem (as some of the characters are plainly disrespectful or love him for absolutely no reason that can be found at all) that maybe this book isnt for you. Apologies to the author if this criticism is too harsh but im actually trying to temain objective about the failing points while remaining polite. TYVM.
a very good novel to read .... high quality story .... deep foundation .... beautifully presented characters .... a light touch of mystery .... and lighthearted slice-of-lif events .... MC is good enough for starter MCs .... Elf knightness is not foolish girl or justice muscle brain it is a character that have a very high charisma for the readers .... I sincerely hope that you Mr.author will keep writing your beautiful story without running it. wish you success.
I feel like things happened too fast in this story. In the point of view of the protagonist who lived with Ash for a few weeks it might make sense, but honestly reading the chapters after the end of vol.1 just made me annoyed... We had like 10 chapters of exposion to Ash, then she got kidnapped, then she got pissed at the protag and didn't stop thinking she's the center of the world's problems until now, like what... Think about it for a sec, the matriarchs and the succubus lost their home world because an evil goddes destroyed it, that's a lot of baggage; our lovely and annoying elf thinks that just because she was born an elf she's evil, I wonder what does that say about our kind protagonist, think she forgot but he is literally the son of the incarnation of evil and a hero, but sure being born an elf makes you evil... Idk man, I just don't care enough about Ash to give a f* about her problems, to be honest the chapters were she doesn't appear are 10x better, it's the only way the protag doesn't have to act like he's in a landmine field afterall... In conclusion, the novel is good, but everything happened too quickly, after the first matriarch appearence the plot didn't slow down for even a minute, we had 10000 new characters introduced, matriarcs, blighfall, mastermind of the blighfall and during all that the romantic/slice of life plot didn't progress even a bit, Ash still being annoying af, we don't know anything about Ria, besides the fact that if I was her master, I would have probably used a order to make her leave me alone during most of the chapters (talk about some1 who has no respect for other ppls feelings... If I was sad af because of some1 I care about the last thing I would want to hear is Ria's voice that's 4sure...), nothing to say about the matriarchs they kinda don't have any personality, one of them is annoying and the other is a zombie (a cute zombie that is quite caring, but still no other personality traits), the succubus is getting a bit of the spotlight in the last few chapters, but nothing really to talk about and let's ignore Amanda... As some1 who has nothing to do i'll probably keep reading the novel, but I would like to see some character progression after this blight disaster arc ends... The parents of the protag are still ghosting him, we know nothing of the girls that will be a part of the harem except their names and a few personality traits and for god sakes make Ash less annoying please, more interactions with the succubus and a less annoying Ria would appreacited.
Writing Quality 🌟 The first ten chapters were great. If it would have kept the same non-serious Slice of Life story going out would have been a great story. The syntax and spelling is some of the best in this platform. So much so that at first I was confused by the mixed reviews and wondering why it wasn't on a more mainstream platform like Royal Roads rising stars or trending. As it turns out the reason is that start is just a catfish for a dark fantasy romance story that lurks right around the corner. A style that's much more dower and depressing. A real chore to read. It never recovers its tone and style at the start. Slowly it eats away at what you liked about it in the start until you look up, metaphorically speaking, and wonder how you got here from there. Truly a shame. But the depictions of torture and mind control of the love interest. For over thirty chapters as it amateurishly throws female leads at you left and right in total chaos best represents this series and why it isn't going to be going mainstream anytime soon. What on Earth were you thinking? You had such a good plot going. This is what creative writing does when you don't sit in the driver's seat doing outlines for the chapters and the arcs themselves. Storyboarding a chapter before and after you write it to make sure that it's not just enjoyable to read, but you got the tone across you wanted. And doing drafts so the overall product doesn't suck. A comedy of poor writer decisions. Sigh... Story Development 🌟 I don't think I need to say more there, do I? Character Design 🌟 🌟 🌟 They were well put together at first. Update Stability 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 There's over 400 chapters somehow. Probably because you skipped doing quality assurance writing? World Background 🌟 🌟 🌟 That lack of planning really shows here. The world-building can be said to be banal and likely written chapter to chapter. When normally you're supposed to write this first. I'll still rate it middling, because most amateur writers have no idea what a Literature Bible is anyway. Even if you pointed them at the Fallout Bible for instance? Some of them might even argue it overkill. 😆
The writing quality is good, great for this sites standards, and there's nothing to complain about with the stability of updates either, I think. Honestly, the world is really interesting and I enjoy how it's all been handled. You made me want to learn more about the world and the schemes that are happening underneath, because it really feels like a world that's planned out and real instead of just randomly added things to suit the plot, but I just can't. After reading generic OP MC No. 426, I understand not liking wish-fullfilment where the MC gets everything handed to them for no reason other than they're the MC, but this is ridiculous. Over and over and over, when you think something good is finally going to happen, it once again turns into something dramatic and depressing, and it apparently stays this way until at least chapter 80, so I can't bring myself to keep reading. All I got from this was a bad mood, and it's because there's no payoff. Multiple bad things happen, and you're feeling bad for the characters, it looks like something is finally going to turn out good, only for it to somehow escalate into another depressing problem that's even worse than it used to be, especially with Ash. You really should add some tragedy and grimdark tags, because I came here looking for some wish-fullfilment isekai novel
Reveal SpoilerThe novel is relatively well written with no obvious glaring errors. The plot however contains way too much drama hurt and heartache for my liking. There is also very little to bordering on no romance whatsoever and with a standard beaten down protagonist who thinks he is worthless it's kinda depressing overall.
It is quite good, excellent grammar for webnovel standards. The character building is actually quite decent as well, and the slower paced arcs are quite noce for a change. I’m looking forward to more! I hope you don’t dissapoint Sir Author/Diaper lover.
it is a really good book with great pacing (in my opinion) and with good and execptional plot changes that really hook the reader in to read more and more of the story.
I will be honest, review pre chp 240 is, ie tournament arc, would have been lower. Cast of characters are great and diverse, and MC was alright. UNTIL the tournament arc. He is now more than alright, he is awesome. Slight spoilers, MC (who we still don't know the name of) really grows a spine, and is willing and able to fight for the girls in his harem, and it is acknowledged that it is a harem, and he acknowledges feelings that he and the girls have. (A breath of fresh air from dense, clueless MCs). Really great novel, should be up there with Supreme Magus. Great work author 😁
one of the best light novel out there. it can rival other famous light novels from japan. i honestly don't think i will find this kind of quality in this site. hope u made it to the top.
