Shit, I was late again. The prison is pretty far away from my house. Also, you have to get through the big traffic to get there. So, I had to take at least one hour in hand to reach at 9 o clock. It's been a month but I just couldn't guess the perfect time. The uncertainties kept happening around me making me busy. Ah! (sigh) giving a long long sigh I got down from the car you guessed it, I brought a big new shiny car with my hard-worked money. All the sweat I gave doing this inhumane work finally paid off. I was able to buy a car with my own money. I'm gonna treasure it forever. As I went down from the I remembered the files Mr. Lukas asked me to bring. To my fortunate, I already got them from his house yesterday so it became easy for me. Picking the files I got out of my beloved car and locked it accordingly. Among all cars present in the parking lot, my one looked fantastic. I knew that when I chose the color blue. The sky was a bit cloudy but one could see the light rays coming out from the sun. I went into the prison and kept my composed look. Those guards never change. They have the same old cold-hearted looks on their face. I totally avoid them not understanding their emotions. As I reached the entrance of the torture cell, I could see a familiar figure. He was standing a bit worriedly. His arms were attached to his hoops. The moment he noticed me he began saying, "you ring what I asked?" I handled the files showing that I indeed fulfilled his order. Mr. Lukas then took hold of the file and checked it for the final time to ensure everything is intact. "Let's held inside." Saying that Mr. Lukas swiped the key card to unlock the cell. A gust is smoke blows every time it opens. It's a fully mechanical door. Not to mention the high-tech things that used making it. As we entered the door closed automatically. We could visual a figure out of the smoke that surrounded him. Stepping forward Mr. Lukas put the file near the table that had buts of blood on it. Probably because the guards forgot to wipe it off. Wait, I heard Ms. Clara was out of town currently and she was the only one who possesses the key other than Mr. Lukas. Perhaps, due to that reason, the guards couldn't entire the room. Although the entire cell was not that dirty although, in common eyes, it's very. Mr. Lukas headed towards Jodan who was unconscious right now. I could see the sicking def of him. Dark circles, skeleton-like body, it's an eye sour. He was in much worse shape than yesterday. Like I said Mr. Lukas held his head and looked right and left aggressively, trying to see if he's still alive. "You're not dead." Saying that Mr. Lukas took the bucket that was on his right and threw the water at him violently. Jodan got his consciousness back within a minute or so. Although he was quiet a moment, he became much nosy the other minute. That's a great transformation.
"Ah! Eh!" He shirked but no one didn't pay any attention. I was standing a bit far away as always. However, Mr. Lukas was closer to him as an unwavering warrior. Jodan kept blabbing.
"Wake up, Mr. Humanist. Did you forget your humanity fight?" Mr. Lukas was teasing him while distancing himself. Jodan finally opened his eyes wide and glazed at both of us.
"I see, you haven't forgotten about it." Mr. Lukas said nonchalantly. He flipped through the pages of the diary and stopped at one. Then glazing at Jodan he continued, "You killed the one you loved, right? What was her name?" Mr. Lukas exchanged glances with me. "What was her name again, Reyes?" I was a bit flustered by the sudden calling. "J-Jessica, I guess."
"Right Jessica. Well, Jodan let me tell you a secret that no one in this world knew to expect the higher-ups, that includes me."Jodan wasn't a bit interested, he kept his downcasted eyes with a depressed self. However, Mr. Lukas didn't pay to his condition rather he continued with a wide grin. He got close to him with the file. "The girl you loved wasn't just a common girl. She was one of us, related to the police department." Jodan spoke with his expression.
"I know that she told me that she wants to be a police officer. That's her dream is...no, was…" It seemed as if he mistook Jessica as an alive person.
"Did you know that she was already a secret agent, the moment you met her?" For the first time, Jodan looked straight at Mr. Lukas. Mr. Lukas became more excited as he got his full attention. "What's more is that she was sent to that location to do an undercover mission. The mission was to gather Intel about the monster. I assume you didn't know that." With a sneering look, Mr. Lukas said. "Oh, you got tangled in her lies. So unfortunate. She was just fooling around you, Jodan." Jodan was engaging with intense rage. It was building up slowly and we could feel it. For a monster rage is not something they could feel but how was Jodan.
"You don't believe me?" Mr. Lukas took a photo from the file and held it right in front of Jodan. Until a moment ago Jodan was filling himself with rage towards Mr. Lukas but when Mr. Lukas held the photo in front of him, he stopped at once.
The photo was a passport size picture of Jessica wearing her uniform. The uniform was given by the department. Most probably she took the photo at the end of her intern. Jodan was sobbing sorrowfully. I couldn't see him as a monster at that time. It felt very much human to me.
Once there lived a monster in a wild forest. There was a village near the forest. The villagers were afraid of him. The monster didn't want any harm. He just wanted to be friends with the villagers. But the villagers were too afraid to befriend him. One day while hunting in the forest the villagers encountered the monster. The monster was crying with its heart out. The villagers felt pity for him. Even with knowing that the monster could kill them anytime, the villagers grabbed their courage and went near the monster. They asked the monster, "Why are you bawling?" The monster didn't answer. The villagers added, "Are you perhaps hungry? Do you need food? If you want, we can give you some." The monster sat quietly. The villagers decided to leave him as the monster didn't answer them. They were felt sad as they live. The emotion ran wild inside them. What might be the reason? What could have bothered him? They thought. As they were about to live the monster stood up. The monster had finally stood on his feet. Despite having a large body, he moved his legs without any restrictions.
Was it just my imagination or I could feel his pain. The pain of betrayal. The indescribable agony. Jodan was crying as his heart tearing apart. Unwantedly a drop of water fell from my eyes.
"It...it. .can't be...it...can't be true…" Even if he was trying his best to convince himself with the lies. Deep inside he knows that all of it is nothing but false hope. The cold-hearted Mr. Lukas didn't pity him for once.
"Do you still think she loved you? Don't make a fool of yourself Jodan. I told you the truth. There's no hope in there. Just tell us where is that system." Jodan wasn't answering. To be more precise, he wasn't able to answer because of his heavy sobbing. People cry three ways. The first one is a quiet cry. It means you cry and tears fall from your eyes, No talks nothing just tears. The next one is loud. As its name sound, you will be labeled as a loud or nosy crying baby If you were making out irritated. The final one is pathetic crying. You could see someone crying as if they had lost their motive for life. They lost all the hopes they had. It's quite rare to see someone crying like that. For the first time, I had witnessed it with my eyes. Jodan's crying was the rarest one. He was loud but also quiet at the same time. He would mumble "Jessica… Jessica… tell me it's ...not ..true" from time to time. His legs and arms were not fully regenerated or perhaps he stopped the regeneration. I could only guess. "Make your mind Jodan! This isn't time for your pity crying. I know you can't feel emotion. You people don't have any empathy." Mr. Lukas had a disgusted look on his face. "quit the act. I'm fade up with this." However, Jodan didn't stop rather he continued more intensely.
How does feeling betrayed felt like? Is it that painful? Perhaps it's just a fraction of what Jodan was showing. I asked myself the question. As a human, I also don't know what it felt because I never got in such trouble. Jodan was a veteran in this field. He is like a king of pain. He had suffered so much pain from the past few weeks and still hasn't uttered the truth. How much more do we have to do until he reveals himself to us? Even Mr. Lukas didn't know the answer to that question.
Mr. Lukas threw the file onto the table beside him and gazed at me in a tired expression. "Let's take a rest, Reyes. It seems we wouldn't get any out of him right now." I nodded in agreement. Jodan was indeed in an unstable phase. He was laughing at him from time to time and crying in the middle. What the heck with him? It's getting creepy! I averted my sights unable to see it anymore. It's already lunchtime. I wonder what show I have today. But at that very moment, something happened.
Mr. Lukas became serious all of a sudden. "Reyes take this and go next room and press the red button." Out of nowhere, Mr. Lukas ordered me. This was unexpected. Mr. Lukas never asked me to do anything out of contrast.
"B-But why?" I asked in a panic. "just do it!" Despite not wanting to leave him alone, I rushed to the door, unlocked it, and was running at a full speed to the next room. I could see Mr. Lukas's face as the door was closing automatically. I felt as if this is gonna be my last time seeing his face. The cold-hearted looks on his face weren't the same today. It was mixed with a bit of worriedness. Mr. Lukas making a call to someone that I couldn't grasp. The door finally closed fully and I couldn't tell what's on the other side now. I reached the room and pressed the red button hurriedly. A siren went loud all around the prison. But something louder than a siren happens right after. An earthquake? Whatever it was the prison guards went running near the destruction. Within a minute I could hear the same sounds but this time it happened close to me. As I glanced at the CCTV footage that connects to the torture cell, the untold thing that we could never expect happened. The door was shattered into large pieces. Smoke covered the entire room. The lights kept flickering. The CCTV was glitching here and there but I was lucky enough to see through it. Mr Lukas was still in his old position but he took a fighting posture. It looked as of he was trying to protect Jodan from some unknown person. You could call this very moment,
"Prison Broke out."
