Chapter 1: The Impossible Astronaut

S.O.N.G headquarters / Mistral…

"Where has he gone? He snatched Ruby." Weiss asked, her Scroll near her ear. "Elfnein. Got anything?"

"Not a trace." Elfnein said. "Aren't you guys heading to Atlas?"

"We are." Yang said. "We were discussing our plans. And Jared ran off somewhere with her."

"That's not like him."

"We know." Weiss said. "Where is he?"

"He's probably on Earth." Blake said.

Kitchen…

Amy is reading from a history book while Rory unpacks the shopping.

"At the personal intervention of the King, the unnamed Doctor was incarcerated without trial with his companion in the Tower of London." Amy said.

"Okay, but it doesn't have to be them." Rory said.

"According to contemporary accounts, two nights later, a magical sphere some twenty feet across, was seen floating away from the tower, bearing the mysterious Doctor and his companion aloft."

"Okay. It's them."

"There's more."

S.O.N.G headquarters / Mistral…

"Someone sent Team RWBY envelopes." Elfnein said. "According to what you said."

"Yeah." Weiss said.

Weiss and Yang took out their envelopes. Weiss' envelope is marked number two and Yang's envelope is marked number four. The color of the envelopes someone sent are ruby red.

"We held onto them like forever." Yang said, looking down at her envelope. "It was our gut feeling."

Living room…

"It's like they're being deliberately ridiculous, trying to attract our attention. Are you watching this again?" Amy asked.

A Laurel and Hardy film, most likely the Flying Deuces.

"Yeah. I've explained the jokes." Rory said, while the doorbell rings and Amy answers it. The postman hands over some letters. "So what are you saying? Do you really think they're back there, trying to wave to us, out of history books?"

Completely missing the Doctor in a fez and Jared wearing the fusion of Gungnir and Raising Heart, the both of them waving to the viewer before joining in Stan and Ollie's dance.

"Hey, it's the sort of thing they'd do. Thanks." Amy said.

"Yeah, but why?" Rory asked.

"Well, they said he'd be in touch."

"Two months ago."

"Two months is nothing. And Weiss called me a while back. She said Jared took Ruby on a date a while back. It can't be a date, since neither have romantic feelings for each other. The Doctor and Jared are up to something. I know they are. I know them." Amy said, opening an envelope with the number 3 on the back.

"What is it? Amy?" Rory asked.

"A date, a time, a map reference. I think it's an invitation." Amy said.

"From who?"

"It's not signed. Look, Tardis blue."

Stormcage…

Prisoner River Song also gets mail.

"You'd better get down here, sir. She's doing it again. Doctor Song, sir. She's packing. Says she's going to some planet called America." The guard said.

(Jared's POV)

Highway…

The San Juan School District bus lets Rory and Amy off, with their backpacks.

"Thanks!" Amy said, happily.

"You're very welcome." The driver said, nearby.

"This is it, yeah? The right place?" Amy asked.

"Nowhere, middle of? Yeah, this it." Rory said.

A portal opened up nearby, and Weiss, Blake, and Yang stumble out of it, with the blonde on Bumblebee.

"A portal to the middle of…" Weiss said, looking around.

"Do you think this is it?" Yang asked.

"It has to be it." Blake said.

"There isn't another route." Yang said, sitting on Bumblebee. "We're in the middle of nowhere after all.

"Howdy." The Doctor said.

"Took you guys long enough." I said, looking at the Ponds, River, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. "I've been out here with the Doctor for ages."

They turn to see the Doctor and I lying on the hood of a big American car.

"Doctor!" Amy said, excitedly.

"Ha, ha! It's the Pond." The Doctor said.

"Hey!"

"Hey, Snow White, Belle, and Goldilocks!" I said, getting into a group hug with the three present members of Team RWBY. "What's up?"

"What's up? You left us." Weiss said.

"Did I? It's been a long couple months. I missed you three though. Seeing you girls younger."

"You worried us. No phone call. Nothing." Blake said. "And you left us envelopes."

"What's that all about?" Yang asked. "And where's Ruby?"

"You'll see." I said, smirking.

Joyous reunion.

"Hello, Pond. Come here." The Doctor said.

"So, people have been busy boys then, eh?" Amy asked, looking between the Doctor and I.

"Did you see me and Jared?"

"Of course."

"Stalker."

"Flirt."

"Husband." Rory said.

"Rory the Roman! Ooo, come here." The Doctor said, hugging Rory.

"Hey, nice hat."

"I wear a Stetson now. Stetsons are cool."

"Ruby would wear something like that." Yang said, crossing her arms. "Where is my sister?"

Then someone shoots the cowboy hat off the Doctor.

"Hello, sweetie, darling." River said, looking between the Doctor and I.

Diner…

Ruby Rose was sitting at the diner bored at a table. She fell asleep, and the moment she woke up, she sees, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and I sitting at the same table as her. The Doctor, River, and the Ponds are sitting at another nearby table. The Doctor, River, and I are comparing diaries.

"Right then, where are we? Have the three of us done Easter Island yet?" River asked.

"Er, yes! I've got Easter Island." The Doctor said, flipping through the diary.

"I have it too, River!" I said, landing on the adventure in my TARDIS blue diary. "Now that was a lot of fun."

"They worshipped the Doctor, Asuna, Sinon, and Leafa there. The look on Kirito's face that day. Have the both of you seen the statues?" River asked.

"Jim the fish." The Doctor said, landing on a page in the diaries.

"Oh! Jim the fish. How is he?"

"Still building his dam."

"That giant mech." I said, flipping through another page in my diary.

"Now that, darling, was a hell of a day." River said, flipping through the diary and landing on the page. "We can't get into more detail, now can we?"

"Nope. Because when aren't there any giant robots in history?"

"Sorry, what are you three doing?" Rory asked.

"The three of them are time travellers, so they never meet in the right order. They're syncing their diaries." Weiss said.

"What's going on?" Ruby asked.

"Doctor, you and Jared are up to something." Blake said.

"We've been running, faster than we've ever run. And we've been running our whole lives. Now, it's time for us to stop. And tonight, we're going to need you all with us." The Doctor said.

"Okay. We're here. What's up?" Amy asked.

"We're thinking of a picnic, and then a trip." I said, smiling. "It'll be somewhere different and brand new. I've known about it for years now."

"Where?" Ruby asked.

"Space, 1969." The Doctor said.

(Open POV)

Lakeside…

The picnic.

"Salud!" The Doctor said.

"Salud." Everyone said, at the same time.

Jared gave Ruby a strawberry banana smoothie knowing she can't drink yet.

"So, when are we going to 1969?" Yang asked.

"And since when do you drink wine?" Amu asked.

"I'm eleven hundred and three. I must've drunk it sometime." The Doctor said, while he takes a swig from the bottle and spits it out. "Oh, why it's horrid. I thought it would taste more like the gums."

"Now you know why I don't drink, Doctor." Jared said, sitting in between Ruby and Weiss. "More bitter than coffee."

"Eleven hundred and three? You were nine hundred and eight the last time we saw you." Amy said, looking at the Doctor.

"And you've put on a couple of pounds. I wasn't going to mention it." The Doctor said.

"I spent months at Remnant. And what happened at Atlas and getting there was…" Jared said, frowning.

"What happened at Atlas?" Weiss asked.

"Is it important?" Blake asked.

A strange figure is silhouetted on the skyline. Ruby and Amy spot it.

"Who's that?" Ruby asked.

"What? Do you see something?" Yang asked. "Ruby?"

"What are you talking about?"

"What did you see? You said you saw something." Rory said.

"No, I didn't." Amy said.

"Oh yeah, the moon. Just look at it. Saved due to Symphogear stopping a part of it from crashing into the Earth." Jared said, laughing a little. "But we did a lot more than looking at it back then. That big, silver planet up in the sky. We couldn't resist going to it, now could we?"

"The moon landing was in 69. Is that where we're going?" Rory asked.

"Nope, a lot more happened in 1969 than anyone remembers."

"Human beings. I thought I'd never get done saving you." The Doctor said.

A truck pulls up nearby and W Morgan Sheppard gets out. The Doctor and Jared waved to him.

"Who's he?" Amy asked.

"I don't know." Ruby said, sadly.

"Oh, my God." River said.

Two figures in NASA spacesuits are standing up to their knees in the lake.

"You all need to stay back. Whatever happens now, you do not interfere. Clear?" The Doctor asked.

"Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, I don't want any of you interfering in this. No team attacks, nothing." Jared said, looking over at Team RWBY. "This is one moment in time that I can't change. That none of us can."

The Doctor and Jared go to meet the figures, who have stepped out of the water.

"That's an astronaut. That's an Apollo astronaut in a lake." Rory said.

"Yeah." Amy said.

"Hello. It's okay. I know it's you." The Doctor said.

"Same here. I know it's you." Jared said, frowning. "No need to worry."

The astronauts raise their gold plated visors.

"Well then." The Doctor said.

They watch as the Doctor and Jared say something, then the two bow their heads.

"What are they doing?" Yang asked.

One of the astronauts shoots the Doctor and the other stabs Jared with two blades.

"Doctor! Jared!" Amy said, terrified.

"Amy, Ruby, stay back!" River said.

River and Rory are holding back Amy, as Weiss and Blake are holding back Ruby. And again with what the two astronauts did before.

"I have to help Jared!" Ruby said, trying to break free of Weiss and Blake's grip on her arms.

"The Doctor and Jared said stay back! You have to stay back!" River said, angrily.

"No! No! Doctor!" Amy said, worried.

Regeneration energy starts to flow from the Doctor's hands.

"Jared!" Ruby said, letting out tears.

And Jared's blue Aura shows on his body, as he is slowly healing.

"I'm sorry." The Doctor said.

One of the astronauts shoots the Doctor again just as the regeneration starts properly.

"Me too, I'm sorry. Team RWBY…" Jared said, sadly.

While the other astronaut lets the blades sink into Jared's body deeper. The blue Aura heals him for a bit before failing.

"No! Doctor! Jared!" River said.

"Doctor, Jared, please!" Amy said.

They run to the Doctor and Jared. River scans them with her tricorder.

"River. River! River? No." Amy said.

River empties her six-shooter at the retreating astronauts, "Of course not."

"River, the Doctor and Jared can't be dead. This isn't possible." Amy said.

"Whatever those were, one of them killed the Doctor in the middle of his regeneration cycle. His body was already dead. He didn't make it to the next one. And the other astronaut killed Jared while his Aura was recharging. His body was also already dead. He must have depleted all of his." River said, sadly.

"Maybe they're clones or duplicates or something." Ruby said, trying to come up with theories. "Jared has done the impossible before with the Doctor."

The old man approaches, with a petrol can.

"I believe I can save you some time. That most certainly is the Doctor and Jared. And they are most certainly dead. They said you'd need this." Delaware said.

"Gasoline?" Yang asked.

"A Time Lord's body is a miracle. And a huntsman's body is even more of a miracle. Even dead ones. There are whole empires out there who'd rip this world apart for just one cell. We can't leave them here. Or anywhere." River said.

"Wake up. Come on, wake up, you stupid, bloody idiot. What do we do, Rory, Team RWBY?" Amy asked.

"We're their friends." Weiss said.

"We do what the Doctor and Jared's friends always do." Yang said, her hand on her hip. "At situations like these."

"We do as we're told." Blake said.

"There are boats. Um, if we're going to do this. We have to do it properly." Ruby said, sadly.

So, as the sun sets, the Doctor and Jared get Viking funerals.

"Who are you? Why did you come?" Weiss asked.

"The same reason as you." Delaware said, and he holds out his blue invitation. "Doctor Song, Amy, Rory, Team RWBY. I'm Canton Everett Delaware the third. I won't be seeing you again, but you'll be seeing me."

Delaware leaves.

"Two batches of four." River said.

"Sorry, what?" Yang asked. "What are you talking about?"

"The Doctor and Jared numbered two batches of envelopes. One batch of four was TARDIS blue and the other batch of four was ruby red." River said.

(Jared's POV)

Diner…

"There were four TARDIS blue envelopes. Any and Rory got 3, I was 2, Mister Delaware was 4. And there were four ruby red envelopes. Yang got 4, Blake got 3, Weiss got 2, and Ruby got 1." River said.

"So?" Yang asked.

"So, where's 1 for the TARDIS blue envelopes?" River asked.

"What, do you think they invited someone else?" Weiss asked.

"Well, they must have done so. They planned all of this, to the last detail." Blake said, crossing her arms. "This is so like the Doctor and Jared."

"Will you four shut up? It doesn't matter." Ruby said, sadly.

"They were up to something." Weiss said.

"They're dead." Amy said.

"Space, 1969. What did they mean?" River asked.

"You're still talking, but it doesn't matter."

"Hey, it mattered to them." Blake said.

"So it matters to us." Weiss said.

"They're dead." Ruby said, frowning.

"But Ruby, they still need us." Yang said, smiling. "The Doctor and Jared."

"I know. Amy, Ruby, I know. But right now we have to focus." River said.

"Look." Rory said, and another blue envelope on a table near the back. "Excuse me, who was sitting over there?"

"Some guys." The busboy said, he looked over at Ruby Rose. "They were with that girl in the red hood. She fell asleep though. Don't know why."

"That, um. That explains why I don't remember anything besides us planning on going to Atlas." Ruby said, her eyes widening.

"Retcon. Amnesia pills. Jared used it on Ruby. This is the same Ruby that's in sync with Weiss, Blake, and Yang. Timeline wise. Jared never took Ruby on any adventures. She didn't age one bit. He brought her straight here." River said, scanning Ruby with her scanner. "The Doctor and Jared knew they were going to their death, so they sent out messages. When you know it's the end, who do you call?

"Er, your friends. People you trust." Ruby said, letting out a sigh.

"Number 1 for the TARDIS blue envelopes. Who did The Doctor and Jared trust the most?" River asked.

The people who come out of the restroom, that's who. And it's the Doctor and me.

"This is cold. Even by both of your standards, this is cold." River said.

"Or hello, as people used to say." The Doctor said.

"Doctor? Jared?" Amy asked.

"I just popped out to get my special straw. It adds more fizz." The Doctor said.

"And I wanted to get something good. Or at least go to the restroom." I said, happily. "I was thinking of what kind of burger I wanted to get."

"You're okay. How can you two be okay?" Amy asked, walking around the Doctor and Jared.

"Hey, Amy, of course we're okay. We're always okay. The Doctor and me."

"We're the Kings of Okay." The Doctor said, hugging Amy. "Oh, those are rubbish titles. Forget those titles. Rory the Roman! Jared, you're right. I didn't know why you kept calling him that. Now I know. That's a good title. Hello, Rory. And Doctor River Song. Oh, you bad, bad girl. What trouble have you got for us this time?"

River slaps the Doctor, hard. Then it gets followed with Blake and Weiss slapping me, hard. And Yang punching me in the gut and kicking me in the groin, hard.

"Ow!" I said, in a lot of pain. "Gah…."

"Okay. We're assuming that's for something we haven't done yet." The Doctor said, looking down at me who is lying down on the floor.

"Yes, it is." River said.

"Good. Looking forward to it." The Doctor said, as he pulled me off the floor. "Are you okay?"

"Fine. I think I deserved that." I said, sadly. "Knowing Weiss, Blake, and Yang."

"I don't understand. How can the both of you be here?" Rory asked.

"We were invited. Date, map reference. Same as you lot, I assume, otherwise it's a hell of a coincidence." The Doctor said, picking up the TARDIS blue envelope.

"River, what's going on?" Amy asked.

"Amy, ask the Doctor what age he is." River said.

"That's a bit personal." The Doctor said.

"Tell her. Tell her what age you are."

"Nine hundred and nine."

"And Jared, tell Team RWBY if you reached Atlas." River said.

"No, I didn't. We were on our way there just now. Before I got sidetracked to come over here. Team RWBY too apparently." I said, crossing my arms. "Don't know why though. Why did you four follow me?"

"Yeah, but you said you were…" Ruby said.

"So where does that leave us, huh? Jim the fish? Have we done Jim the fish yet? And Jared, how about that giant mech? Where does that leave us? Have we done that giant mech?" River asked.

"Who's Jim the fish?" The Doctor asked.

"What giant mech? Are you talking about that giant Cyberman over Victorian London?" I asked. "Because the Doctor, Symphogear, and I defeated it. When he was all suit, tie, trench coat, and Converse."

"I don't understand." Amy said.

"Yeah, you do." Rory said.

"I don't! What are we all doing here?" The Doctor asked.

"We've been recruited. Something to do with space 1969, and a man called Canton Everett Delaware the third." Ruby said, looking at me. "This is all odd and new to me. Since you never took us to space 1969. I don't know what it means."

"Recruited by who?" I asked. "I hate not knowing. Since me and Team RWBY changed things. For better or for worse. I have to know. Who was it?"

"People who trust you and Jared more than anybody else in the universe." Weiss said, looking down. "Sorry, that's all we can say."

"And who's that?" The Doctor asked.

"Spoilers." River said.

Tardis…

"1969, that's an easy one! Funny, how some years are easy. Now, 1482, full of glitches. Now then, Canton Everett Delaware the third. That was his name, yeah? How many of those can there be?" The Doctor asked.

"Doctor, there were only three Cantons." I said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "It was a family name passed down, I think."

"Rory, Blake, Yang, is everybody cross with us for some reason?"

"I'll find out." Rory said.

Tardis lower level…

"Explain it again." Amy said.

"The Doctor and Jared we saw on the beach were future versions. That Doctor was two hundred years older and that Jared has mixed feelings about Atlas than the ones up there." River said.

"But all that's still going to happen. They're still going to die."

"We're all going to do that, Amy."

"We're not all going to arrange our own wake and invite ourselves." Weiss said.

"So, the Doctor and Jared, in the future, knowing they're going to die, recruits their younger selves and all of us to, to what, exactly? Avenge them?" Rory asked.

"Nah. Avenging's not their style." Yang said, crossing her arms.

"Save them." Ruby said.

"Yeah, that's not really their style either." Blake said. "Ruby, the Doctor is like you now. And Jared has been around you and the Doctor for the longest time."

"We have to tell them." Amy said.

"We've told them all we can. We can't even tell them we've seen their future selves. They've interacted with their own past. It could rip a hole in the universe." River said.

"Yes, but they've done it before."

"And in fairness, the universe did blow up." Rory said.

"But they'd want to know."

"Would they want to know? Would anyone want to know that they're gonna die?" Weiss asked.

"I'm being extremely clever up here, and there's no one to stand around looking impressed! Jared doesn't even look remotely impressed!" The Doctor said, angrily.

"That's because you're so bad at flying, Spaceman!" I said, nearby. "You're flying her wrong!"

"No, I'm not. What's the point in having you all?"

"Couldn't you just slap the Doctor and sometimes?" River asked, looking between Amy and Weiss. "Especially because both of them are really similar."

"For their childishness." Weiss said, sadly. "No. But for them killing themselves. Maybe."

"River, we can't just let them die. We have to stop it. How can you be okay with this?" Amy asked.

"The Doctor and Jared's deaths doesn't frighten me. Nor does my own. There's a far worse day coming for me." River said.

Tardis…

"Time isn't a straight line. It's all bumpy wumpy. There's loads of boring stuff like Sundays and Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. But now and then there are Saturdays. Big temporal tipping points when anything's possible. The Tardis can't resist them, like a moth to a flame. She loves a party, so I give her 1969 and NASA, because that's space in the sixties, and Canton Everett Delaware the third, and this is where she's pointing." The Doctor said, looking at the TARDIS scanner.

"Washington D.C., April the eighth, 1969. So why haven't we landed?" Blake asked.

"Well, we're not going there!" I said, happily.

"Oh. Where are we going?" Rory asked.

"Home. Well, you two are. Off you pop and make babies." The Doctor said, walking over to the Ponds.

"Team RWBY, we have to get back to Remnant. We are going to Atlas after all." I said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "Mostly to bring the Relic of Knowledge there. I have a feeling it's gonna be a long and treacherous journey."

"And you, Doctor Song, back to prison. And me? I'm late for a biplane lesson in 1911. Or it could be knitting. Knitting or biplanes. One or the other." The Doctor said.

"What? A mysterious summons. You think we're just going to go?"

"So, who sent those messages? We know you know, Ponds, River, and Team RWBY. We can see it in your faces. And I'm not one for getting my heart broken like that."

"Don't play games with us. Don't ever, ever think you're capable of that."

"You're going to have to trust us this time." River said.

"Trust you? Sure. But, first of all, Doctor Song, just one thing. Who are you? You're someone from my future and Jared's future. Getting that. But who? Okay. Why are you in prison? Who did you kill, and who did that girl, Ryuko Matoi kill, hmm? Now, Jared and I love bad girls, me, but trust you? Seriously." The Doctor said.

"Trust me." Amy said.

"Okay." The Doctor said, sadly.

"You have to do this, and you can't ask why."

"Are you being threatened? Is someone making you say that?"

"No."

"You're lying."

"I'm not lying."

"Swear to me. Swear to me on something that matters."

"Fish fingers and custard."

"My life in your hands, Amelia Pond."

"Well, I'm not going there." I said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "I know what's there, and I'm still not going."

"Jared, you have to trust us." Ruby said, walking towards me.

"Sure, I would trust you four. I have for years. But why? Why should I?"

"You have to do this, like the Doctor. I'm sorry, I really am. But you can't ask why." Weiss said.

"You know it's the right thing to do." Blake said.

"And there's no backing out now." Yang said, smirking.

"You four are not ones to threaten me after all, I helped you guys time and time again." I said, looking at Team RWBY. "Okay, okay. But is someone making you say this?"

"No." Ruby said, frowning.

"Swear to me, swear to me on something that matters."

Team RWBY then began listing things off for me.

"Chocolate chip cookies." Ruby said.

"Penny Polendina." Weiss said. "And Pyrrha Nikos."

"Zwei." Yang said.

"And us. Team RWBY. Team JNPR. Well, all your friends." Blake said.

"My life is in your hands, Team RWBY." I said, happily

"Thank you. Amy and Team RWBY." River said, looking between Amy and Team RWBY.

"So! Canton Everett Delaware the third. Who's he?" The Doctor asked.

(Open POV)

Bar…

"Who wants to know?" Canton asked.

"Your boss." Carl said.

"I don't have a boss anymore."

"Maybe you want to tell that to the President of the United States."

Tardis…

"It says he is Ex FBI." Weiss said, looking at her Scroll. "He got kicked out."

"Why?" Ruby asked.

Car…

"I understand that you have a problem with authority." Nixon said, on the telephone.

"Thank you." Canton said.

"That's not a compliment, son."

Tardis…

"Six weeks after he left the Bureau, the President contacted him for a private meeting." Weiss said, looking over at her Scroll. "I don't know why though."

"Yeah, 1969. Who's President?" The Doctor asked.

Oval Office…

"This is a personal matter. I need someone on the outside, someone with FBI training…" Nixon said.

Car…

"...but who's not in contact with them." Nixon said, on the telephone.

"I'm flattered." Canton said.

Oval Office…

"You were my second choice for this, Mister Delaware." Nixon said.

"That's okay." Canton said, on the phone.

Car…

"You were my second choice for President, Mister Nixon." Canton said.

Tardis…

"Richard Milhous Nixon." Jared said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "He was the 37th President of the United States. He served from 1969 to 1974. There was the Vietnam War, the Watergate Scandal. He visited China and Russia. And there were some good things too. Like wanting to prevent nuclear warfare. What? I'm a fellow American."

"Not enough. The Doctor said.

"Hippie!" River said, annoyed.

"Archaeologist." The Doctor said.

Oval Office…

"Every day, wherever I am, I get a phone call." Nixon said.

"People can't just call you, Mister President." Canton said.

"It's a direct call every time. Every day for the last two weeks, usually late at night."

"Man or woman?"

"Neither. Listen."

Well, he did like recording everything.

Tardis…

"Okay, since I don't know what I'm getting into this time, for once I'm being discreet. I'm putting the engines on silent." The Doctor said, and he pulls a lever and there is a wail.

"Ah! That's loud!" Ruby said, covering her ears.

Jared throws a different switch and it goes quiet.

"Did you do something?" The Doctor asked.

"Nope, I'm only watching you, Doctor." Jared said, smirking.

"Putting the outer shield on invisible. I haven't done this in a while. Big drain on the power." The Doctor said.

"You can turn the Tardis invisible?" Yang asked. "That's actually a bit cool."

"Ha!"

"Very nearly." River said, and she moves another lever.

"Er, did you touch something?" The Doctor asked.

"Just admiring your skills, sweetie."

"Good. You might learn something. Okay. Now I can't check the scanner. It doesn't work when we're cloaked. Just give us a mo. Whoa! Whoa, whoa, whoa. You lot, wait a moment. We're in the middle of the most powerful city in the most powerful country on Earth. Let's take it slow." The Doctor said.

The Doctor steps out of the Tardis with Jared and Ruby.

Oval Office…

As Nixon and Canton are listening to the recording.

"Hello? Who is this? This is President Nixon. Who's calling? Is this you again?" Nixon asked, over the recording.

"Mister President?" The girl asked, over the recording.

"A child." Canton said.

"This is the President, yes." Nixon said, over the recording.

"I'm scared, Mister President. I'm scared of the spaceman." The girl said, over the recording.

"A little girl?" Canton asked.

"Boy." Nixon said.

"How can you be sure?"

"What spaceman? Where are you phoning from? Where are you right now? Who are you?" Nixon asked, over the recording.

Jared took out his phone and began texting Ruby who took out her Scroll.

"Those questions seem important. I guess." Ruby said, over the text.

The Doctor quietly gets out a notebook and starts writing.

"That's because they are." Jared said, over the text.

"Jefferson Adams Hamilton." The girl said, over the recording.

"Jefferson, listen to me." Nixon said, over the recording.

The child rings off.

"Surely this is something the Bureau could handle, sir." Canton said.

"These calls happen wherever I am. How do I know the Bureau isn't involved? I can't trust anyone…" Nixon said, turning around and sees the Doctor, Jared, and Ruby.

"Um, Ruby, they spotted us." Jared said, over the text.

Canton stands and turns, too.

"Oh…" Ruby said, over the text.

The Doctor keeps writing, "Oh. Hello. Bad moment."

"Yeah, I think that was a bad moment for us to be texting." Ruby said, looking at Jared. "Where are we?"

"We're in the Oval Office." Jared said, as he placed his phone inside his pocket.

"I think we were looking for an arcade or a karaoke bar." Ruby said.

"You're right. Or we were looking for the er, oblong room. We'll just be off, then, shall we?" The Doctor asked.

The Doctor, Jared, and Ruby walk smack into the cloaked Tardis, causing a big jolt inside.

Tardis…

"Every time." River and Weiss said, at the same time.

Oval Office…

"Don't worry! It always does that when it's cloaked." The Doctor said.

Ruby reaches over for Crescent Rose but Jared places his hand on top of hers, "No?"

"No." Jared said, looking at the Doctor. "Our weapons are way ahead of this time and place."

Canton wrestles the Doctor to the floor.

"Ah, no. Stop that." The Doctor said.

Tardis…

"He said the scanner wouldn't work." Rory said.

"We know. Bless." River said.

Oval Office...

The Secret Service run in.

"Lockdown! Lockdown!" Carl said, angrily.

Tardis…

"Stop that! Argh! Oh!" The Doctor said, on the scanner.

Oval Office…

"River, Weiss, Blake, have you got my scanner…" The Doctor said.

Tardis…

"...working yet?" The Doctor asked, on the scanner.

"Oh, I hate him." River said, sadly. "He always does this. Put himself, Ruby, and Jared into danger. I would have hated him even more if they tackled Jared due to the Doctor's idiocy."

Oval Office…

"No, you don't!" The Doctor yelled. "And oi!"

"Get the President out of here. Sir, you and your friends have to go with them, now." Carl said.

"River, Weiss, Blake, make her blue again!"

The Tardis shimmers into the visible spectrum.

"What the hell is that?" Nixon asked.

While they were distracted, the Doctor has slipped out of their grasp and into Nixon's chair.

"Mister President, that child just told you everything you need to know, but you weren't listening. Never mind, though, because the answer's yes. We'll take the case." The Doctor said.

"Really, you guys, guns." Jared said, looking at the men in black. "The Doctor, Ruby, and I, we walked into the White House."

"Um, we also parked a big blue box on the rug." Ruby said, taking out Crescent Rose and it turned into its scythe form. "Do you think you can just shoot us? When I have this."

Jared held out his pendant for his outfit to change into his mobile suit of armor, "Aqours, set up."

Ebb and Flow appeared in Jared's hands in dual pistols mode.

"They're Americans!" River said.

Weiss has her Myrtenaster out, while Blake has her Gambol Shroud in its dual swords form, and Yang enabled her Ember Celica.

"Don't shoot. Definitely no shooting." The Doctor said. "And seriously, you girls are armed and ready too?"

"Well, yeah." Yang said.

"That guy hurt you!" Weiss said, looking at Carl.

"It did look painful." Blake said.

"Nobody shoot us either. Very much not in need of getting shot. Look, we've got our hands up." Rory said, exiting the box with Amy.

"Who the hell are you?" Nixon asked.

Sir, you need to stay back." Canton said.

"But who are they and what is that box?"

"It's a police box. Can't you read?" Weiss asked. "We're the helpline."

"I'm your new undercover agent on loan from Scotland Yard. Code name the Doctor. These are my top operatives, the Legs, the Nose, and Mrs Robinson." The Doctor said, looking over at Amy, Rory, and River.

"I hate you." River said.

"No, you don't."

"I'm also an undercover agent but I'm on loan from UNIT. My code name is well, the Storyteller. These are my fellow agents, the Hood, Elsa, the Cat Ears, and Top Heavy." Jared said, smirking.

"I hate you." Yang said, looking at Jared.

"Nope, you don't."

"Who are you?" Nixon asked.

"Nah, that's a boring question, President Nixon." Jared said, leaning against the wall.

"An interesting one is on who is phoning you." Ruby said.

"Because Canton Three is right. That was definitely a girl's voice, which means there's only one place in America she can be phoning from." The Doctor said.

"Where?" Canton asked.

"Do not engage with the intruder, Mister Delaware." Carl said.

"You heard everything I heard. It's simple enough. Give me five minutes, I'll explain. On the other hand, lay a finger on me or my friends, and you'll never, ever know." The Doctor said.

"How did you get it in here? I mean, you didn't carry it in." Canton said.

"Clever, eh?"

"Love it."

"Do not compliment the intruder." Carl said.

"Five minutes?" Canton asked.

"Five." The Doctor said.

"Mister President, that man is a clear and present danger to…" Carl said.

"Mister President, that man walked in here with a big blue box and eight of his friends, and that's the man he walked past. One of them's worth listening to. I say we give him five minutes. See if he delivers." Canton said.

"Thanks, Canton." The Doctor said.

"If he doesn't, I'll shoot him myself."

"Not so thanks."

"Sir, I cannot recommend…" Carl said.

"Shut up, Carl Peterson!" Jared said, aiming his dual pistols at him. "You don't want to mess with me or Team RWBY. All we want to do is help. Well?"

"All right, five minutes." Nixon said.

"I'm going to need a SWAT team, ready to mobilise. Street level maps covering all of Florida. A pot of coffee, twelve Jammie Dodgers, chocolate chip cookies, a strawberry sunrise with no ice, and a fez." The Doctor said.

"Get him his maps." Canton said.

Jared took out his phone and he began typing in the phone number for someone he trusted and haven't talked to in a while. He put it on FaceTime.

"Hello?" Martha asked, her face on the video screen. "Jared?"

"Martha Smith-Jones." Jared said, leaning against the wall.

"You haven't changed a bit. It's good to see you. Well, talk to you. What's wrong? Where are you?"

"In the White House."

"The White House? Have you gotten yourself and the Doctor in trouble?"

"Nope. I feel like I'm getting do-overs lately."

"How so?"

"Remember the Year that Never Was?"

"Where the Doctor believes he destroyed half of my life. Yeah. I do. It's not his fault. Or yours."

"I know. So, how's the family?"

"They mostly recovered. There's articles going around saying that you…"

"Martha. Spoilers."

"Right. Sorry. You said something about do-overs."

"Well, I helped reboot the universe. On top of saving Haven Academy. I don't know what will happen at Atlas."

"Atlas? As in Atlas Academy? You're in unknown territory then." Martha said, and she looked behind her to see Mickey there. "I've got to go. Stay safe. Got it? And Team RWBY, make sure he doesn't get hurt."

"We will." Ruby said, and Jared ended the video call with Martha.

The fanboy placed his phone back inside his pocket.

"Why Florida?" Canton asked.

"Well, that's where NASA is." Jared said, happily. "And she mentioned a spaceman. As in astronauts."

"NASA's where the spacemen live. Also, there's another lead I'm following." The Doctor said.

"A spaceman, like the two we saw at the lake." Amy said.

"Maybe. Probably. But why are they here?" Ruby asked.

Amy and Ruby see a figure in a suit at the open door. It has a large head with sunken eyes and no mouth, and very long fingers. The two recall the sighting at the lake.

"Gah! Where have I seen that before?" Ruby asked.

"I remember." Amy said.

"Amy? What do you remember?" Rory asked.

"It's gone. What was that?" Ruby asked.

The figure is gone.

"I don't know. I just…" Amy said.

"Amy, what's wrong?" Rory asked.

"Amy? Ruby?" Weiss asked.

"Are you all right?" Yang asked.

"Yeah. No, I'm fine. I'm just feeling a little sick." Amy said, clutching her stomach in pain.

"I have a bit of a headache…" Ruby said, clutching her head. "Hi, um. Excuse me, do you have a restroom somewhere?"

"Sorry, girls, while this procedure's ongoing, you must remain within the Oval office." Carl said.

"Shut up and take them to the restroom." Canton said.

"This way, ladies." Phil said.

"Thanks." Amy said.

Amy and Ruby leave. Carl stops Rory and Weiss from following.

"Your five minutes are up." Canton said.

"Yeah, and where's my fez?" The Doctor asked.

Outside the Rest room…

"Actually, we can usually manage this alone." Amy said. "Let's go, Ruby."

Phil reluctantly stands guard.

Rest room…

Amy enters with Ruby to see the weird alien there.

"Argh! We saw you before, at the lake. And here. But then we forgot." Amy said.

"How did we forget you? What are you?" Ruby asked. "Are you some kind of Squidward thing? A type of Grimm? What?" A woman comes out of a stall and goes to wash her hands. "Get back. Stay away from it."

The woman turns to see the alien.

"Eek! Oh, my God. What is that? Is that a mask? Is that a Star Trek thing? Ben, is that you?" Joy asked.

"Get back from it now!" Amy said, angrily.

Joy turns around, "Back from what, dears?"

"That." Ruby said, looking at the Silence.

Joy turns back again, "Eek! Oh, my God! Look at that. Is that a Star Trek mask? Ben, that's got to be you. Hang on, did I just say all that?"

"No. Please, you've got to stay back." Amy said.

"Back, honey? Back from what?" Joy asked, when the lights flicker. "Oh, those lights. They never fix them."

"Look behind you. Please!" Ruby said, terrified.

"Honey, there is nothing. Argh!" Joy said.

The alien uses the electricity from the lights to give Joy a prolonged zap, until she explodes in a shower of ashes.

"You didn't have to kill her. She couldn't even remember you." Ruby said, sadly. "That's not right!"

"How does that work? We can only remember you while we're seeing you, is that it?" Amy asked, and she took a photograph with her mobile phone.

"Why did you have to kill her?" Ruby asked.

"Joy. Her name was Joy. Your names are Amelia and Ruby. You will tell the Doctor and Jared." The Silence said.

"Tell them what?" Amy asked.

"What they must know and what they must never know."

"How do you know about that?"

"Tell them."

Outside the Rest room…

Amy and Ruby run out.

"Are you okay?" Phil asked.

"Um, we're fine." Ruby said, sadly.

"Much better, thanks." Amy said.

"What's that?" Phil asked, noticing Amy's phone in her hand.

"It's my phone." Amy said.

"Your phone?"

"We have to tell the Doctor and Jared."

"Tell them what, ma'am?" Phil asked.

"Sorry, I don't know why I said that." Amy said.

"This way, ladies."

(Jared's POV)

Oval Office…

"Of course the phone rings now." I said, leaning against the wall.

The telephone rings.

"The kid?" Canton asked.

"Should I answer it?" Nixon asked.

"Here! The only place in the United States that call could be coming from. See? Obvious, when you think about it." The Doctor said.

Amy, Ruby, and Phil return.

"You, sir, are a genius." Canton said, happily.

"It's a hobby." The Doctor said, smiling.

"Mister President, answer the phone."

"Hello. This is President Nixon." Nixon said.

"It's here! The spaceman's here! It's going to get me! It's going to eat me!" The girl said, on the telephone.

"There's no time for a SWAT team. Let's go. Mister President, tell her help's on the way. Canton, on no account follow me into this box and close the door behind you." The Doctor said.

"What the hell are you doing?" Canton asked, running into the Tardis behind me, Team RWBY, Rory, Amy, River and the Doctor.

It dematerialises.

"Mister President, please help. Please help me!" The girl said, over the telephone.

"Jefferson, it's all right. I'm sending my best people." Nixon said.

Tardis…

"Jefferson isn't a girl's name. It's not her name either. Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton. Jared." The Doctor said.

"There were eight founding fathers for the United States of America. They were George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and John Jay. There were other founding fathers too." I said, leaning against the TARDIS console. "George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison were the first four United States Presidents. But the little girl said Jefferson, Adams, and Hamilton. Which were the surnames for them."

"Lovely fellows. Two of them fancied me." The Doctor said.

"Are you okay? Coping?" Rory asked, looking at Canton.

"You see, the President asked the child two questions. Where are you and who are you?" The Doctor asked.

"I think she was answering where." Ruby said, sadly. "Because a girl wouldn't have the names of men…"

"Unless they were androgynous." Weiss said, crossing her arms.

"It's bigger on the inside." Canton said.

"Yeah, you get used to it." Rory said.

"Now, where would you find three big, historical names in a row like that?" The Doctor asked.

"Where?" Yang asked. "Where would you find that?"

"Here. Come on." The Doctor said.

"It's er…" Canton said.

"Rory, are you taking care of this with Blake?" I asked, holding Ruby's hand.

"Why is it always my turn?" Rory asked.

"Why am I doing this?" Blake asked.

"Because husband, you're the newest. And Blake, you took a break from traveling." Amy said, leaving the console room.

Warehouse office…

A dingy, cluttered place.

"Where are we?" Ruby asked.

"We're about five miles away from Cape Kennedy Space Center." I said, taking out some bubble tea to drink it. "It's 1969, the year of the moon. Don't you like it, Little Red?"

"It's, um, it's okay." Ruby said. "But why would a little girl be here?"

"I don't know. Lost me a bit. The President asked the girl where she was, and she did what any lost little girl would do. She looked out of the window." The Doctor said.

Where the street sign points to Hamilton Av, Jefferson St and Adams St.

"Streets. Of course, street names." Weiss said. "That makes total sense."

"The only place in Florida, probably all of America, with those three street names on the same junction. And Doctor Song, you've got that face on again." The Doctor said.

"What's taking them so long?" Yang asked.

"Maybe Blake is having a hard time explaining." Ruby said.

"She has Rory. How could it be hard?"

"I don't know."

"Give them time." I said, sipping on my bubble tea.

"Okay." Ruby said.

Rory and Blake finally get Canton out of the Tardis.

"We've moved. How, how can we have moved?" Canton asked.

"You haven't even got to space travel yet?" Yang asked.

"We were going to cover it with time travel." Blake said, crossing her arms.

"Time travel." Canton said.

"Brave heart, Canton. Come on." The Doctor said, walking away.

"So we're in a box that's bigger on the inside, and it travels through time and space." Canton said.

"Yeah, basically." Rory said.

"How long have Scotland Yard had this?"

Warehouse…

"This is a warehouse." Blake said. "It must be abandoned."

"This is a trap." Weiss said, looking around.

"That explains the phone." Yang said.

"What do you mean?" Ruby asked.

"The phone line was cut off." I said, grabbing Ruby's hand. "So how did the child phone President Nixon from here?"

"Okay, but why would anyone want to trap us?" Amy asked.

"Let's see if anyone tries to kill us and work backwards." The Doctor said.

One of the astronauts watches from the shadows.

"Now, why would a little girl be here?" River asked.

"I don't know. Let's find her and ask her." The Doctor said.

We come across some technology.

"It's non terrestrial. Definitely alien. Probably not even from this time zone." River said.

"Which is odd, because look at this!" The Doctor said.

A crate of spacesuits.

"It's earth tech. It's contemporary." Yang said, looking at the spacesuits.

"It's very contemporary. Cutting edge. This is from the space program." The Doctor said.

"Were they stolen?" Weiss asked. "The spacesuits."

"What, by aliens?" Amy asked.

"Apparently." I said, letting go of Ruby's hand.

"But why? I mean, if you can make it all the way to Earth, why steal technology that can barely make it to the moon?" Amy asked.

"So, do you know what is gonna happen?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah." I said, sadly. "I do."

"This is one of the adventures that you know of with the Doctor, then." Weiss said.

"Yup."

"You can't give us foreknowledge about our adventures in Remnant." Yang said. "Because you don't know what to expect."

"Unfortunately."

"Don't worry about it." Blake said. "Things can't go that bad over there."

"I like your wheels." Canton said.

"That's my boy. So, come on. Little girl. Let's find her." The Doctor said.

Amy, River, Ruby, and Weiss examine the alien tech, which has a lot of gunk and slime associated with it.

"River. Ruby. Weiss." Amy said.

"I know what the three of you are thinking." River said.

"No, you don't." Ruby said, frowning.

"You three are thinking if we can find one of the spacemen in 1969 and neutralise it, then it won't be around in 2011 to kill the Doctor and Jared. While the other spacemen would still be around in 2011, and Symphogear or any Magical Girl could take it out." River said.

"Okay, lucky guess." Amy said.

"It's only because I was thinking it too."

"So let's do it."

"Time doesn't work like that." Weiss said. "We came here because of what we saw in the future."

"If we try and prevent the future from happening, we create a paradox." River said.

"Um, time can be rewritten." Ruby said, sadly.

"Not all of it."

"Says who?" Amy asked.

"Who do you think? What's this?" River asked, looking at a manhole cover.

"We can still save them." Ruby said.

"Doctor? Jared? Look at this." River said.

"A manhole." I said, walking towards the manhole. "Where does it go?"

"There's a network of tunnels running under here." River said, looking at her scanner.

"Is anyone down there?" Ruby asked. "Any sign of life?"

"No, nothing that's showing up."

"Those are the worst kind."

River prepares to go down.

"Be careful, River. Besides Yang, you're the only one who is a good support." Weiss said.

"Careful? I tried that once. Ever so dull." River said.

"Shout if you get in trouble." The Doctor said.

"Don't worry, I'm quite the screamer. Now there's a spoiler for you." River said.

"Tell me what's going on here." Canton said.

"Er, nothing. She's just a friend."

"I think he's talking about the possible alien incursion." Rory said.

"Okay." I said, looking around the place. "It's been a long couple of weeks. The Lodger, Saving Haven Academy, Big Bang Two, A Christmas Carol, the space loop, and now this."

River discovers power lines, and more aliens.

"So, I was in a bar having a drink. Tell me, honestly, am I still there?" Canton asked.

"Sorry, you're not dreaming." Yang said, crossing her arms. "You're awake, Canton."

River returns in a hurry, "All clear. Just tunnels. Nothing down there I can see. Er, give me five minutes. I want to take another look around."

"Stupidly dangerous!" The Doctor said, angrily.

"Yeah, I like it too. Amy, Ruby, Weiss, look after the Doctor and Jared." River said, going back down.

"Rory, Blake, Yang, would you mind going with River?" The Doctor asked.

"Yeah, a bit." Rory said.

"Then I'd appreciate it all the more."

"Hang on, River. Blake, Yang, and I are coming too."

(Open POV)

Tunnel…

"Are you okay?" Yang asked.

"Ah. Yes, yes. I just felt a bit sick. It's the prison food, probably. Okay, this way? What do you think?" River asked.

"I'm hearing things." Blake said, her cat ears moving up and down. "Where is it coming from?"

"That's interesting. These tunnels are old. Really old. How can they be really old and nobody notice them?" River asked.

They come across a metal door.

"It's a maintenance hatch." Yang said.

"It's locked. Oh, why do people always lock things?" River asked.

"They don't like us being noisy." Blake said. "So, what's through there?"

"I've no idea."

"Something bad?" Rory asked.

"Almost definitely." River said.

"You're going to open it, aren't you?"

"Well, it's locked. How's a girl supposed to resist?"

"So, Jared, he's been missing us." Blake said.

"He has been here for a while. On Earth." Yang said.

"I think it's a good thing. Him splitting us and Earth up again."

"Yeah, it is."

"What did you mean? What you said to Amy. There's a worst day coming for you." Rory said, sadly.

"When I first met the Doctor and Jared, a long, long time ago, they knew all about me. Think about that. An impressionable young girl and, suddenly these men just drop out of the sky and they're clever and mad and wonderful, and know every last thing about her. Imagine what that does to a girl." River said, frowning.

"I don't really have to."

"The trouble is, it's all back to front. My past is the Doctor and Jared's future. We're travelling in opposite directions. Every time we meet, I know them more, the Doctor knows me less and only Jared will know of me. Basically, no personal connection between me and Jared, well, friendship, as I get to know him more. Since all this, us, was just a fairy tale to Jared, a show on the telly. I live for the days when I see them, but I know that every time I do, they'll be one step further away. And the day is coming when I'll look into those men's eyes, my Doctor and Jared, and the Doctor won't have the faintest idea who I am while Jared would be all doom and gloom. And I think it's going to kill me." River said, and she gets the door unlocked.

Chamber…

Dry ice wafting across the floor.

"This place." Blake said, looking back at Yang. "Jared sent us a photo once."

A hum of machinery and what looks suspiciously like the time ship that was pretending to the the first floor of 79 Aickman Road, Colchester.

"Yeah. He said it was the second floor of an apartment…" Yang said, her eyes widening.

"So, what is this place? You said Jared has been here once." Rory said.

"That's an alarm. Check if anything's coming." River said.

Rory looks outside and sees the aliens, but when he turns back, he forgets what he saw, "There's nothing out there."

"These tunnels, they're not just here, they're everywhere. They're running under the surface of the entire planet. They've been here for centuries." River said.

"It's like the Incubators. But on a more massive scale." Yang said, in awe.

"This is bad." Blake said, letting out a sigh. "This is really bad."

The lights start flickering.

"Rory! Blake! Yang!" River said.

Warehouse…

"What's next for this adventure?" Weiss asked. "You're hiding something."

"Am I?" Jared asked.

"You are. How does this adventure end?"

"You know I can't tell you that, Ice Queen."

"Jared, is it something to do with us?" Ruby asked.

"I don't know what will happen next. And I am still scared." Jared said, sadly. "What can I do to help?"

"We've got this. Don't give up."

"What if I do?"

"They're my friends, if friends are the right word. I haven't seen the Doctor and Jared in a while. Ruby and I had something we wanted to tell them, but stuff always gets in the way." Amy said.

"Stuff does that." Canton said.

"Help me! Help! Help me!" The girl said, nearby.

"That's her." Weiss said. "Let's go, Canton."

Weiss ran off with Canton, the Schnee having Myrtenaster out.

Amy suddenly doubles over.

"Amy?" Ruby asked.

"Help me! Please!" The girl said, nearby.

"What's wrong?"

"Doctor, Jared, I need to tell the both of you something. It's important. Ruby, you have to know too, since you're here." Amy said.

"Doctor!" Weiss said, nearby. "Jared! Ruby!"

"It's really, really important."

"Doctor, Jared, Ruby quickly!" Canton said, nearby.

"Seriously?" Jared asked, looking at Amy. "You want to do this now?"

They run through the warehouse to find Canton and Weiss on the floor.

"Canton! Weiss! Canton, Weiss, are you okay?" The Doctor asked.

"Are they all right?" Amy asked.

"Just unconscious. Got a proper whack."

"Doctor, Jared, Ruby, I need to tell you something. I have to tell you it now."

"I don't think it's a good time." Ruby said, sadly.

"No, it's important. It has to be now."

"Help! Help me! Help me!" The girl said, nearby.

"Doctor, Jared, Ruby, I'm pregnant." Amy said, while there are heavy footsteps behind them. "That's it. One of the astronauts."

The astronaut points at the Doctor and Jared. Amy reaches for Canton's gun. The astronaut raises its visor - it is the little girl.

"Help me!" The girl said.

"Get down!" Amy said.

"What are you doing?" Jared asked.

"Saving both of your lives!"

"No!" The Doctor said, worried.

Amy shoots at the astronaut, and screams.
