Chapter four:
Davina woke up to the bright light that was shining in her face. It almost blindsided her but she fought herself to sit up straight. There was medicine, tools and cabinets all around her. She was inside of a hospital. Before she could stand up, a nurse entered the room.
Please, sit down. Ms. Osborne. The nurse walked over to her, Rest, please.
Where... what happened? Davina asked, standing up and looking around in a hospital gown.
You have been in a coma for two weeks. The police fished you out of the sea after an incident. Replied the nurse.
But- Davina wanted to know more but someone opened the door. It was a man in a nice suit and he was wearing a eye patch.
Ma'am. I'll take it from her. The man smiled and the nurse excused herself from the room. The man walked over to Davina and lowered his eye patch. My name is Agent Nick Fury. I am a worker in the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division. We're still working on the name.
Davina looked confused for a second as she stared at him. If she was in a incident, she would have been injured.
I want to know what really happened. Replied Davina.
That's complicated, Ms. Osborne. There's no use in lying to you but you may be very confused and scared if you would know how you ended up here. Said Nick Fury.
Just... Davina sighed, please tell me everything.
You collided with a ship from space. It was crashing to Earth with the speed of light and a crash like that would have killed any living being. After that, your friend called the police and we fished you out of the sea, Nick Fury sighed. But you didn't break any bones. Not even a single scratch, Ms. Osborne.
Are you sure? How long have I been here? Davina asked but didn't get any answer. How long?
Six hours, Ms. Osborne. We were lying about the two weeks. We thought it might calm you down. Nick Fury bit his lip, I think you might want to see this.
Davina stood up and she felt no pain in her body. She followed Fury through the hospital where it was mostly empty. It would be probably because she was the only one who was involved in the incident. But then she entered private territory. It was a quarantine zone and there were Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division soldiers roaming around the halls. They ended up in a with a glass window overlooking a recovery room.
What am I looking at? Davina asked and looked inside the window. There was a man lying on a bed, sleeping. Who is he?
That, Ms. Osborne, is the only other person who is involved in the incident. Nick Fury explained. He too, didn't get injured. Minor scratches but nothing too serious.
Is this a lucky day for me? Davina asked.
No, it's actually not. We speculated that this man is not human. But he is actually from old stories. They called his specie's Kree. They were alien creatures who had the appearance of a human. They are more invulnerable and can take up more pain. Replied Nick Fury.
So I'm a Kree? Davina asked.
With the situation you are in now, you are half Kree. It's because his wiring was open and it collided with the surface of your ship. You both share the powers now. Nick Fury turned around to Davina. But you're powers are more advanced than his.
Why do you think that is? Davina asked but the door in their room opened.
Because your system and his powers combined, creates a whole other being. Nick Fury said. I am the Director of the Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division.
I get it. Davina smirked but focused again, Name?
I'm afraid that's classified. Nick Fury maintained a straight face. You may think that this is only a once in a lifetime event but no it isn't. This will stay for the rest of your life. Said Nick Fury.
Depending on your name, I thought you would have that covered. Davina joked.
Is that supposed be funny? The Director asked. Because when I look at the man. Nick Fury pointed at the man who was lying in the recovery room, I don't see sorrow. I see war. From what I can tell, he just started a war between the Kree and Earth. Said Nick Fury.
But he randomly appeared on Earth. How is this a dedication of war? Davina argued.
Because he's already at war with another race and bringing him here means that his kind, the Kree kind, will be searching for him. We need him, Osborne, so we can understand him. Said Nick Fury.
How do we even know that I have powers? Davina asked while laughing.
Punch the table, Nick Fury suggested, looking at her with a smile. Davina gladly punched it and it created a big dent that was facing downwards. Looks like we found out. Said Davina Osborne.
Davina looked at Director Nick Fury and he was nodding.
Have you ever heard of the tale of Captain America? Nick Fury asked her.
Yeah. The greatest soldier that ever lived and America's greatest hero. Replied Davina Osborne.
Good. Because you Ms. Osborne, are becoming Earth's second defender. Director Nick Fury turned around. I want none of them to leave this quarantine area. And call Osborne's family! Said Nick Fury.
