Chapter 34: The undying pain
MARIA'S POV
I could have taken any and everything. I even woke up this morning determined to do whatever I was ordered to do. I resolved not to do anything to counter Vincenzo's wishes. But this? This thing he just did was unacceptable. I could not believe he was trying to control who I spoke to.
As if planting bodyguards right in front of my door was not audacious enough, he also shamelessly grew someone to spy on me? Who would he stop me from talking to next? Zia Benedetta? Ursula? I had been too stunned by his audacity to give him a piece of my mind.
I understand. Ideally, he has a messy history with Roy, but he had no right to tell me who to talk to, and I would make him understand that now. I stepped out again furiously, ignoring their protest of Tally.
