Chapter 20: The Bound Companion
The fog has still to vanish completely, so it the person is still hidden, only leaving a silhouette visible for Arion. He is now packed with curiosity and walks closer to the person. As he starts to get closer, it slowly reveals itself completely. To his surprise, the silhouette turns out to be girl. She seems to be around Arions age and has long black hair with shiny red eyes. As he is looking into her eyes, he can feel a chill running down his spine as if his eyes just met with a predator. Her clothes seem to be of very high quality, similar to those of royalty. But the clothes are completely black and seem to be constipated to allow free movement. Arion is unsure how to categorize her, but before he even realizes, she has moved behind him, without making any noise. She seems to analyze Arion as well, the same way he checked her before. But at some point she doesn't only check with her eyes, but Arion can feel a stinging pain in his neck. She bit him.
A drop of blood flows down from her lips as Arion turns around abruptly, while grabbing his neck with his hand. Startled by the situation, Arion is unable to voice any of his thoughts and simply stares at her for now. While Arion keeps focusing on her, she says: "Contract established". That is also the moment Arion realizes that the girl has a tail. Since she bit him, she hasn't moved around, she just stands in front of him, while both of them keep staring at each other. Finally getting the courage Arion says: "Who are you?", in a monotone voice. "I am a few things and I am not several things", she answers. Arion's facial expression changes to confusion, she seems to talk in the same way the sentences on the door explained the situation. "Then what are you exactly?", he asks.
"You are mine and I am yours, we are bound together and can never be separated again. There is an invisible bond between us now", she explains. "I do know about our situation, the door did explain it to some degree, but that doesn't answer my question", he says. She takes a deep breath before starting her explanation: "I am human, but I am also not a human, I am demon, yet not really a demon, I am also a vampire, but again also not. There are other things that I am and yet am not. I am nothing and yet a lot. With what I was told, I am the result of a demonic experiment to fuse several beings into a sword. Therefore, one might say that I am a weapon with a consciousness. A sword with a soul, that can use demonic, vampiric and other powers at the same time. But it comes at a prize, the more power I use, the more power I need again. I don't have my own power, but my power comes from the bound soul to me.", while explaining all this, the girl seems to be a bit conflicted. Or rather, the whole explanation sounded like someone reading something from a textbook without being sure if it is actually true, as they never saw it themselves. "So how many contracts did you have before?", Arion asks, "None", she voices, "I can only have one, a contract can't be nullified, and if one of us dies, the other dies too". "So basically, everything you told me, is something you were told before, but you are not really sure about it yourself?", Arion says in a confused tone. "Not entirely, I know about the different powers that I have and that I can use them, or it seems like I know, I don't remember from where. I mean I have been in this room for all the time I can remember.", she keeps explaining.
After having a throughout talk with the girl, Arion realizes that they are still situated in the room of nothingness. "Do you have any idea on how to leave this place again?", he asks. "Yes", she answers and closes her eyes. She slaps her hands together and miraculously they are standing in Arions room. "Did you just ....", before Arion can finish his sentence the door opens. Orelia enters the room and immediately stops in her tracks as she perceives the girl. "Who are you?", Orelia asks in confusion. "I am no one , but I am his", the girl answers while pointing at Arion. Orelia slowly turns her head towards Arion, and she seems to be confused yet a bit mad. "Care to explain?", Orelia says a bit aggressively. At this moment Arion realizes that the time that has passed inside the lock did not pass here, as before he got sucked into the lock, he was sure he could hear someone get closer to his room. That must have been Orelia, "Well, I am unsure how to explain this myself, the moment I got to the room, I instantly tried to open the box. Well she was inside, or it...", he voices. But as he is unsure how to address the weapon girl, he turns his head back towards her and says: "By the way what is your name?". "I am Mina, or at least that is what I think my name is", she answers.
