Chapter 15: Julius of the house Calir

The disapproval someone voiced, is so unexpected that the whole room went completely quiet. No One expected anyone to say something of this kind out loud to the king. Arion stops in his tracks and turns his head towards the direction the voice was coming from. Yet he is unable to perceive the person who said it. There are just too many people to distinguish from. The king asks: "Who just objected to my declaration?". In the direction Arion is still looking, a man, wearing light shiny armor, emerges from the crowd and says: "I, Julius of the house Calir", while kneeling in front if the King. Now Orelia stands up and comes forth: "Why, Julius?", she asks. "You may speak freely".

After these words were spoken, Julius does not hold back on his explanation: "Why that thing, why is that honor given to such a disgusting thing, the place beside you is supposed to be given to me. I was trained my whole life for this, and now I must yield to THAT!". As he finishes his speech, he points his finger in disgust at Arion. Discussion raises throughout the room, while some of the things that can be distinguished in the small chaos, all seem to agree with Julius. Disilphon still not saying a single word in this situation simply looks blankly at the room. Orelia now voices a bit energetically: "Julius I understand your concern to some degree but, the position of personal attendant was never fixed to be yours. Yes that honor might have been given to your family for the past few generations, but that does not mean it will be yours as well. The single prerequisite I gave, that my personal attendant must have is to be stronger than me. Now tell me, are you stronger than me, have you ever won a single sparring match against me?". Julius now seems to be a little bit reluctant, but still shouts: "But that thing . . .". Before he can finish, Orelia calmly says: "But that thing what? Are you saying the kings and my judgement are wrong?". "That is not what I mean, but we can not trust that thing, it is dangerous.", Julius attempts to convince everyone. "Ooh, dangerous, and why is that. Because he is different from us, does that make him dangerous. If I am not mistaken, Julius, your little sister has eyes with different colors. That makes her different too from everyone else, now tell me is she dangerous?", Oerlia voices a bit more aggressively. Julius responds to Orelia's explanation: "That might be true that she has different eye color but that is something completely different, she is human, but that thing is not".

This whole situation, Arion knew would happen when they made their way towards the castle. The way everyone reacts to him, when they see him, it was only a matter of time. But in this situation Arion is unsure how he can be useful, because with most certainty, no one will believe anything he says. Arion giving out an extreme long sigh, says: "May I make a proposition?". Everyone taken by surprise that he actually said something, even Orelia and the Disilphon. Orelia getting a slight smile on her face answers: "Go on". Arion making sure to not be disrespectful to anyone in any way starts his proposition: "As this young knight, and no one else in this rooms deems me for worthy in any way, and as the only condition the princess gave was for anyone to be stronger than her I make this proposition. A Sparring match, between the young knight and me, if he is able to land a single hit on me before he admits defeat, the victory shall be his.". Orelia is a bit intrigued by the idea, yet concerns are showing on her face. Even though she says: "Given Julius leaves victorious of this match, what shall that mean?". After Orelia just finishes her question, Julius directly jumps in: "The honor of personal attendant shall go to me, as it is not a small feat to defeat such a thing in combat". Arion can not hold back a slight jiggle to Julius announcement and voices: "Technically, you wouldn't have defeated me, you would only have been able to touch me once. That in itself might be an accomplishment". In response to Arion's explanation, even Orelia lets out a small jiggle and turns her head to the King. "What do you think father, I find the proposition acceptable, but on the case of Julius victory Arion will not receive the honor of being my personal attendant, but simply join the rest of the slaves. The decision of who shall be my personal attendant shall then be decided at a later date". The king simply nods and says: "So it shall be, the match will be held tomorrow at the arena when the sun is highest."
