Chapter 22: The Prey and Predator III

Unknown POV

The building was all dark now, not like before when it had lots of lights. I told the team to get ready, but before they opened the door,

"Hold on, grab the fireworks." We had explosives with us. Boom! We blew up the front entrance with a loud noise as panicking them would make the job mujch easier.

With night vision goggles on our eyes, we stepped into the building really slowly. We were being really careful, watching out for any traps or surprises.

Moving cautiously, I noticed the anticipated blood trails on the floor still not dry, signaling to those behind me to check the upper floor. With a smile, I followed the traces of blood on the floor, tracing the unsettling path ahead

It showed me signs of someone desperately trying to escape their fate. Following the blood path, I found her.. lifeless against the wall with her eyes empty, devoid of any light.

"Wow, so this is how it ends? All that running, the anticipation, only to find my prey already dead Tsk, tsk" I whispered, licking my lips as I dragged her body into the hall like some dead animal

"But don't worry, I'll make sure to enjoy the rest," I said, taking the combat knife out of its sheath.

With a single swing, I thrust it inside her chest, Hoping she would wake up, at least now, after all, The thing that really gets me excited about killing isn't just the blood; it's the satisfaction of seeing the light vanish from their eyes after they've desperately tried everything to escape.

"You see..." slash "...your husband made more noise when I did this..." pluck~  "...like a bitch in heat," I taunted as I sliced open her chest, tearing her heart out with my right hand, it lay in my hand, lifeless and lacking the satisfying pulse of a fresh, beating heart.

It was like holding a dead flower, all drained of color and the sweet smell of life.

Displeasure seeped into my tone as I sighed, "Now two down, and three more to go." I hoped the next one would be more entertaining.

As I reveled in the macabre display suddenly, there was a loud gasp. I turned and saw a girl, her eyes super wide, like she couldn't believe what she was seeing. She was trying hard not to scream.

The thing she just saw got her really bad. Even though she tried her best not to cry, I could see it....fear, with all shaky and stuff, a perfect prey an animal could wish for.

Ignoring the girl like I didn't see her hiding, I kept acting like I didn't care. In my mind, the loud, pretty ones were like the main course.

They thought they could win, but it was so much more fun when they screamed as I took their hearts out and showed them how fast it was beating.

I took the gun from a guy close by and shouted acting little kind, "Come on out! There's no place to hide. Just hand over that little prick, and the rest of you can go."

Meanly, I started shooting randomly, trying to scare them without really hurting anyone badly. The gunshots echoed in the dark building, making things even scarier for my unsuspecting prey. They were all scared, not knowing that I was kinda enjoying this hunt.

Feeling like I was running out of time, I checked my watch and thought it was time to stop playing games. I quickly shot a bunch of bullets at the guy hiding under some cardboard.

The loud gunfire broke the silence, bringing the creepy game to a sudden stop. I couldn't waste any more time, so I took a quick and decisive action to move things forward without any more delays.

I burst into laughter when I saw the girl, carrying a crying baby, stumble into view. She was crying,

"Nooo... Ryuu... Ryuuu," from behind a table. But instead of feeling bad, my amusement grew with each sob she did.

I took a few steps forward, and she collapsed on her knees like she'd lost all hope in front of the carboard pile.

Seeing her so miserable made me strangely more happy than I expected, like I said before the hopeful ones are the best to kill.

I found it kinda funny, enjoying the messed-up moment as her whole world fell apart. The baby's cries mixed with her broken sobs, making a sad symphony.

Making fun of her pain, I couldn't help but enjoy the weird satisfaction of watching her suffer, getting some twisted pleasure from the unfolding tragedy right in front of me.

My excitement shot up from seeing her so upset, but then suddenly, she stopped crying. Only the baby's wails filled the weird silence. She looked right at me with intense eyes, like she really wanted to see me get torn to pieces.

"Oh, if looks could kill.....How threatening."

"Why you, WHYY...!" she shouted, letting out all the frustration she'd been holding in. Her eyes were like she wanted to kill me, and she had this bloody smile while biting into her lips, trying to suppress her anger.

"I will kill you, hack you into pieces, I will burn your body while I gauge your eyes out and feed it into yourself."

Her words, filled with hatred, which only fueled my enjoyment more.

"Oh, are you mad because I killed your little boyfriend playing hide and seek under the bo-"

*BANG*

There was a loud gunshot as she fired a shotgun, but my guys quickly kicked it away, so the shot missed its target.

Even though her eyes still looked fierce, I started wondering how long her fake courage would last. "Now, now, trying to kill me?" I said, putting my hands on my chest, pretending to be hurt.

"It might have worked, but you see" I grabbed her by the hair, enjoying the satisfaction of her being helpless, and continued to crush whatever hope she was holding onto.

"The thing here is that you're just a prey. A prey being hunted by predators, someone from top-of-the-food-chain "

"You think your empty threats are frightening? Spouting off about prey and predator won't change the fact that you're nothing more than a spineless piece of garbage, attempting to harm a defenseless baby," she shouted pointing at that little thing wrapped in some warm clothes.

"HAHAHAH-... you surely are a fierce one, just my type." My laughter echoed through the dimly lit room, sending shivers down the spines of my subordinates.

It was a haunting sound that seemed to linger in the air, instilling a sense of unease among them.

I don't laugh much, only when I'm really mad. The last time I laughed like this was when I had to get rid of half of my team because they messed up trying to kill that white-haired demon child.

It's a memory I want to forget, I thought, as I placed my hand on that injury. It only healed physically, not mentally.

I still have the mark on my chest where he ripped out the rib from my chest. I had to run away to just save my life, swallowing my pride.

With this bitch reminding me of it again, my anger rose, making the veins around my face swell up and my eyes turn red with anger.

I looked at her eyes looking at my face in disgust as I unsheathed the knife again, wiping the previous victim's blood on her neck.

As I kept sliding the knife down her neck, the room's once-creepy stillness turned into a heavy silence as I reached the chest preparing to plunge it into her heart.

Tap-

A foot stepped out behind me, and its sound hitting the ground echoed all around, completely silencing even my breath.

Thump- Thump- Thump-

I could hear my own heartbeats as I sensed someone's presence.

The air became tense, and the room temperature dropped, giving me chills.

Sweat started forming on my forehead, and with each passing moment, it became harder to even breathe. My hands and feet shook more, every move making the terror worse. It felt like something really bad was getting closer, a mean presence hiding just beyond my sight.

Every hair on my body stood up, as if death's hand was on my neck. A feeling I'd forgotten returned, making me feel like the prey, and the predator was having its fun.

In my fear, I slowly turned my head toward my back, only to find all of my men lying on the floor, headless. It was like they were crushed under a massive force without making a single noise.

Thinking fast, I grabbed her by the neck and pointed the knife, ready to end her life. "Who is it?" I asked, deep and intense, looking around and straining my ears.

That's when I saw him, making me wonder if I was stuck in a nightmare.

Seeing whatever expression my face made, he spoke with a devilish grin and a relaxed manner, using his bloody hands to swing the white hair back from his face.

Uncovering his eyes which literally glowed blue in the dark.

"I just LOVE the smell of fear," he spoke loudly enough to snap me out of my stupor. He walked toward me, holding the knife in his hand, the same knife that was in my hand just seconds ago.
