Chapter 12: A day with my husband
"Come on, wake up" I heard Weishang groan. "No, my body hurts. I don't want to move at all" I replied. He laughed, not realizing my pain. "I'm glad you find this amusing. I'm dying here" I said, being dramatic.
"I guess you don't want those sugar plums you adore" he replied. "I'm up" I replied, shooting up from the bed. "Go take a bath, I have already set your bath water" he said.
I got dressed into a pink and white hanfu. Bai put my hair into a simple bun and put on a small ornament in my hair. "You look ravishing" Ai said, winking at me. I giggled and stood up from my table.
Weishang was standing by the door, waiting for me. "My dear, you look like a goddess" he said as he took my hand. "Thank you" I replied as I looked at my hand. "This is why I prefer to keep you locked up in my room…." He whispered into my ears, making me shiver a bit.
We walked towards a carriage parked outside the palace. It was big and golden, and looked like it could fit a family of 10. A guard opened the door for me and Weishang guided me inside. He got in and closed the door behind him.
He sat across me and looked at me with his dark brown eyes. "What?" I asked him. "Has it become a crime for me to admire my own wife?" he asked me as he smirked. I blushed and looked outside the window. I felt him come closer to me. I looked at him and he put his hand upon the cheeks.
"How many children do you want?" I asked him as he held my cheek. "I don't want children at the moment… I feel I should have my wife towards myself for a while before I should share her" he said.
The carriage stopped. I could hear sounds from the outside. The door opened and a there was a guard standing there, waiting for us. Weishang got out first and guided me out. Bai and Ai were outside as well.
We walked amongst the people, with our bodyguards dressed in casual, walking with us. Bai and Ai were behind me and walked with caution. Weishang guided me towards a sweet shop.
"Greetings your majesties" the shopkeeper bowed as we entered her store. There were different flavors and combinations. "May I?" I asked Weishang. He nodded and I looked around the shop, looking at all of them.
When we left the shop, I had a sugar plum in my hand. "Are you happy with this?" Weishang asked as we continued to walk. I nodded and he smiled, looking at the road in front of us.
He took us to lake, where there was a small restaurant by. "Let's go get something to eat before we go back home don't you think?" He said, pointing at a restaurant. I nodded and followed him towards the restaurant, my sugar plum long gone.
We got there and they placed us by a lake. I looked upon the lake and smiled. "What makes you smile my love?" "The lake, it's majestic. It shows of true emotion and none of the false ones. Image where it leads" I said, looking him in the eyes.
He smiled and leaned closer to me, "your mind is full of mystery my dear" he said as he smiled at me. "A mind full of mysterious is one worth keeping. It shows how one is wiser than another and creates better fellowship between the mind and the soul itself" I told him, sipping my tea.
"Are you trying to prove that you're smarter than me my love?" he said, smirking at me. "No, I'm just trying to prove that your wife can be more than just the empress" I said winking at him. He chuckled, his eyes shining with pride.
We ate and headed back to the castle. There was buzz at the door, showing as if someone of royalty or important had graced these people's attention. We got out the carriage both Bai and Ai were on the ground bowing towards our opposite direction.
"What is going on here?" Weishang asked as he walked towards the commotion. "Her majesty, the Empress Dowager has arrived from her trip" a servant said.
