Ford felt like there was something he was missing but he just couldn't wrap his fingers around it.
A female dressed in black business suit stood to his right reading out the reports about the situation that the police had managed to gather after the investigation to
him.
The lady is ford's personal assistant, Sarah Groton. She is a very beautiful lady with
curves in the right places and a beautiful face. Her chest size was enough shake
a man's will with just a glance. Her sky blue eyes stared emotionlessly at the
world from behind a pair of glasses. Her gaze was very focused and serious as
she read out loud the report in her hands.
There is a small blue circle object on her
left temple, a sign that she had also undergone a neural link or implant.
Despite the fact that he didn't spare her a single glance she didn't stop reporting since
she knew that he was listening attentively even though it looked like he had
zoned out.
The more Ford heard the reports the more his frown deepened. Not only him, even his
assistant who was reading it to him had a complex look on her face as if she
couldn't believe what she was reading.
Was this all real? Or did they mistakenly handed her a fantasy novel instead of a report?
Sarah sneaked a look at Ford and just as she expected even he was finding it hard to
believe. For a man who had seen the dark side of the world to show such an
expression mad where more certain about her earlier assumption that it might be
a fantasy novel instead of a report. If so then whoever wrote this is in big trouble.
Despite her inner dialogue she didn't stop reading the so called report to her boss.
Ford who had been listening to all the rubbish since he arrived at the crime scene was about to say something when he heard a commotion coming from where the crowd of reporters and citizens had gathered.
What the hell was it this time? Didn't they know that this was a crime scene and that
this place was completely off limits? Or Is the police tape a joke to them?
Ford glared at the crowd and was about to order someone to shut them up or chase them away, but when he saw the figure walking out of the crowd his expression relaxed and a small smile graced his normally stoic face.
"Elena!"
Elena had just arrived at the crime scene when she saw Ford making his way towards her with his assistant following closely behind him.
"Region Chief Ford" Elena greeted Ford before
nodding at Sarah who replied with a light wave.
Elena pulled out a silver card from her pocket and placed it on the holographic yellow tape and it promptly scanned the details of her card.
After confirming that the information was correct and that she had the authority and clearance to be there, it then beeped before opening a path for her to pass through.
It was then that someone seemed to realize something that they had all overlooked previously because they were too focused on Ford.
"Wait Elena? As in super investigator Elena?!"
"Fuck! That was super investigator Elena?! How did we not recognize her?!"
"I thought she was the hotel owner "
"Idiot. Didn't your source tell you that the owner was a male, more importantly that he was assassinated yesterday night?!"
"It's too late now. We already missed out chance"
"Damn it!"
The reporters who had the intention of interviewing Elena to squeeze out information from her after hearing the region chief happily call out her name nearly pulled out their hairs In frustration when they saw her move passed the yellow tape.
Some of the brave ones wanted to take advantage of the small gap created in the yellow tape and follow behind her but the tape had already closed back up.
If only they had realized sooner, they could have gotten Intel from her, even the smallest bit of detail would suffice. They had just made the biggest blunder of their career. However, what they didn't know was that Elena didn't even know what was going on. She was just as lost in the dark as they were.
"Chief what's all this about? Why am I suddenly being called to work on my day off?!" Elena asked with a frown as she approached Ford and Sarah. But while she was annoyed about coming to work on her off day she could tell that something huge had happened. Just the fact that the region chief who was always busy was here spoke volumes of just how serious this matter was.
Being a region chief meant that he was the head of the entire police department in the city. That kind of position also meant that he was always busy, so he very rarely appeared at a crime scene.
Chief Ford looked at the prying eyes of the reporters staring at them like there are some juicy meat and quickly said "Not here. Come with me"
Ford hurriedly lead Elena away from the eavesdropping crowds and towards the skyscraper, Sarah quietly followed behind them.
The police officers who were busy working on the scene saw them coming and momentarily stopped what they were doing to greet them. They seemed surprisingly happy to see Elena and started murmuring among themselves.
"Greetings region Chief!"
"Chief!"
"Super investigator Elena!"
"Super investigator Elena!"
"Chief!"
"Miss Elena!"
"Assistant Sarah!"
Chief Ford smiled wryly at this scene. Despite Elena's young age she is a very intelligent crime investigator. No matter how difficult the case was she would always be able to crack it.
Therefore whenever there was a case that the police was finding difficult to crack she was always their go to person.
Back when he first met her she had been a private investigator who had been called in by one of his subordinate after the original investigator called in sick at the last minute.
He had been skeptical about letting her work with them but after she managed to clear the whole case in a few hours he felt that it was a waste that she was only a private investigator and had gone out of his way to rope her into the police force.
Chief Ford could still remember how he had crawled on his knees And begged before she agreed to join the police force. It was impossible for people to imagine a prideful man like him doing such a thing. That was why he swore to carry that secret to his
grave.
Elena cheerfully waved at the police officers as she walked passed them. She felt embarrassed by the way the officers were looking at her like she was an empress showing her face to her loyal subjects for the first time.
Can you guys not look at me like that? I am human like the rest of you. What's with the fanatical looks on your faces?
If Ford knew what Elena was thinking he could curse her to the last of his breathe.
While Elena was still reprimanding the police officers in her mind for their lack of work ethnic they had already arrived at the entrance of the building, in front of the building was a white holographic silhouette of a body on the ground. There are dried red stains on the ground around the hologram.
Elena frowned when she saw the blood stain on the ground.
Were the person shot? And outside at that!
As if she could hear Elena's inner thought Sarah said. "That person wasn't shot. Rather, they were thrown off the skyscraper"
"What?"
Elena's heart skipped a beat at this and her gaze subconsciously looked up at the sky
scraper that was as tall as a mountain.
From the top!
"That isn't even the worst one. Come" Chief Ford promptly lead them into the building and the sight they saw was very disturbing.
There was dried blood and bullet holes all over the place. Although the bodies had all
been taken away and were now replaced with white holographic silhouette and the
bullet shells cleared out, just imagining the scene that had taken place could make any person nauseous.
