When the two reached a fork in the road, an aggressive undercurrent emerged from somewhere, brushed past Noland, and rushed towards the tunnel on the other side of the junction.

Two pillars of water jetted out from under Hadley's feet, carrying Noland out of the undercurrent and leaving the turbulent sea water behind him.
