Absolutely, Raul Brayden was a step ahead of Max's predictions once again but Evelyn's statement made him feel like he was not a predictor at all. What she said was in contradiction to his expectation — he thought she would be happy to see him.

However, Max approached her gradually, then knelt down to meet her eye level. He embraced her tightly without uttering a word, his firm hands enveloping her small body with gentle strength to ensure she was not hurt.

"Am glad that ya're alive, Evelyn. Am so glad that ya're alive and looking healthy, and grown." Max didn't mind Evelyn's childish assumption, that he promised to come back but only to end up not coming back.

If only she knew the deaths, blood and pain he went through, not could her childishness allow her to say something like that.
