Chapter 10: Ariel

10

Alpha Damien stormed towards the person he hated most in the world, the weak girl whose father had killed his own father, the former Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. He hated her so much that he wished she would die but at the same time, he wished she would not.

He wanted to torture her, torture her so much that she would feel pain that even he had never felt before. He wanted to punish and torture her to the extent that she would beg him to kill her. He wanted the pain he had felt when his father had died to be nothing in her eyes compared to the one he would make her feel. He wanted her to feel a pulsing type of pain never experienced before, so much that his heart ached and he felt a blinding anger taking over him, consuming his whole body.

His eyes blazed red with fury as he looked at her. He was so close to her now that he could scent her fear. It permeated the air around them, cloying to the whole environment like a leech. The pathetic girl cowered before Alpha Damien, her head bowed down so much that it touched her chest and her body was trembling, trembling so much that it seemed as if she had been thrown into a magnetic field.

He grinned to himself because of the effect he was having on her. He was very well aware of the sheer terror that his whole being presented to her. It delighted him to no end and he knew that there was no one in this whole world whom she feared more than him. Not even her fellow slaves or even the head slave, Courtney could make her cower in terror like this. Their presence couldn't affect her this much.

The hatred that Alpha Damien felt for the girl currently cowering in front of him could not be measured. It just bubbled over him and consumed him completely, threatening to spill over. It made his whole body to vibrate internally, it made his heart to ache and it made every muscle in his body twitch. That was how the rage made him feel; that was how much he hated the pathetic little girl.

He growled as he focused on why he had come to her; not that he needed a reason to do so. This was his pack and his territory and he could do as he wished, any time he wished and nobody could dare to question him. Most times that he came to torture Ariel, he didn't even have a reason. He usually just came to remind her of her place in the pack and the sin her father had committed which she was still paying for; which both of them where still paying for because it had affected them both. As he remembered the incident, he growled loudly as his heart threatened to explode from the amount of rage he felt and suddenly he wasn't thinking any more. He didn't think about the repercussions of his actions but he just went ahead to do it.

He rushed over to her, eliminating the little space that was between them and grabbed her neck, choking her viciously and not caring whether she died or not. At this point, he was past caring. Nothing made sense to him now except the rage he was feeling and the pain which seemed as if it wanted to bring him to his knees, and he was a bit satisfied that he was able to make the girl whose father had caused him pain to feel pain too even if the one he was currently inflicting on her couldn't be compared to the one he felt everyday.

Whereas this one she was feeling was physical, the one he always felt was physical and emotional. His body ached because of the pain and internally, his organs raged on in pain. The loss of his father had brought him so much pain of the type that he had thought himself never capable of feeling before. What usually made him experience the most pain was not the fact that he had lost his father; no, it wasn't simply because of that. It was as a result of the way in which his father had been murdered. His father had been killed like an ordinary criminal. He hadn't even been accorded the respect he was entitled to as the Alpha of a pack as great as theirs. Rather, he had been killed brutally, and left on the streets like a dog. The worst part of the whole thing was the person who had killed him. It was a rogue; a common rogue, one who had been at war with the pack for years before that fateful night that he had been killed but not before murdering the former Alpha first.

As this memories flooded his whole body and soul, he increased pressure on the neck of the pathetic slave girl who was the cause of his problems or rather whose father was the cause of his problems. But it didn't matter. It never did. Not when the offspring of the man who had committed the deed was still alive and his own father was not. There was nothing more justified than that. She had to pay for her father's crimes. She had to bear the brunt of his atrocities against the former Alpha and some other members of the Red Moon Pack.

He pushed her to the ground when he was done with her and growled out. "What are you doing outside in this garden? Who authorized you to come here?"

On hearing his voice, Ariel trembled more than she had been. The timbre of his voice alone sent shock waves through her and her whole body shook with fear. Still, she knew she had to answer.

"The ... the... the..." she stuttered out in trepidation. Regaining some semblance of a stronger voice, she continued. "The head slave and the others wanted to have a meeting and they ordered me out. They told me to go outside and stay in this garden till they were finished."

"You! You!" the Alpha raged and grabbed her forcefully from the ground. In doing so, he touched a part of her chest and he felt something in his core that made him to drop her back on the ground as if she was nothing but a filthy thing and truly, that was all she was to him.

Alpha Damien was totally shocked. He had felt something in his body and as he remembered how he had felt, he hoped that it was not what he was thinking. In an instant, it was confirmed.

"Mate, mate!" his wolf chanted excitedly in his mind and he was revolted. Revolted by what he just discovered. How could someone like this be his mate? How could the moon goddess choose this filthy soul, his greatest enemy in the whole world to be his mate? This couldn't happen; it just couldn't. Since he took over the position as the Alpha of Red Moon Pack, he had been hoping to find his mate and now that he had done so, he suddenly that he hadn't. This was even a worse fate than before.

Damien had always known at the back of his mind that his goddess-given mate would be perfect, that she would be beautiful and she would complement him in the way that she was destined to and together, they would rule the pack and make it greater than it already was, but at that moment, all his hopes dashed to pieces before his very eyes.

Ariel lay whimpering on the ground. Her whole body was in pains as a result of the way the Alpha had choked her and pushed her to the ground but she could still feel it and her heart was still palpitating because of it. She had felt the attraction between she and Alpha Damien and she knew that he too had felt it because of the way he was looking at her presently with a look of disbelief and shock across his face. She too was struggling to believe it but she knew that it was true. However, she wished that it wasn't true, that the person she hated most in the world wasn't her goddess-given mate.

Suddenly, Alpha Damien was upon her and he struck her across the face hard before he screamed at her. "Get out of my sight, you bitch! You are and always will be nothing but a slave!"

On hearing that, Ariel scrambled to her feet as fast as she could and started making her way toward the large doors of the pack house while limping and whimpering in pain when she felt a hand on her arm. Alpha Damien dragged her back and raved in her ear, his voice shaking something deep inside her.

"Never ever in your life divulge to anyone that we are mates! Do you understand me?"

"Yes, Alpha," she answered with terror in her voice.

He released her arm harshly and allowed her to walk away, cursing at her and vowing to make her pathetic life more miserable than it already was.
