Chapter 11: Ariel

TER 11

Still caught deep in her thoughts on what would pull out make everyone paused when the Alpha walked down majestically from the stairs, how composure was grandly towering and he had some Beta wolves who served as guards behind him, he glared around the room as he suspiciously scrutinized everyone.

Ariel could almost swear when his eyes met with hers in an unfriendly manner he let out a scowl, and he frowned. She sighs because she was the least happy person in that room who craved his presence.

"I would be leaving today for a trip," he said rather briefly, catching everyone off-guard. Ariel was not aware when she let out a sigh, no it wasn't just a sigh, it was a breath of relief. And she had let out an obvious breath of relief causing everyone to ominously shift their gaze upon her for a second.

She prayed instantly the ground would swallow her at this point, it wouldn't just spare her from the condescending stare especially coming from the eyes of the alpha but it will spare her from her suffering and ultimately put her out of her misery.

She knew that having suicidal thoughts wasn't the best for her but, could one blame her,, after all, she has gone through in this hell stimulation.

She lowered her gaze so they did not castigate her with the looks.

Alpha Damien furrowed his eyebrows and continued.

"while I am gone, I want everyone to be at their best behavior and do not try anything funny, I promise you it isn't worth it," he warned, his voice was hoarse as usual and there was no glitter of smile coming from his direction as soon as he left the room and people began to dispatch slowly throughout the room she let out another breathe.

She couldn't believe it that she went unpunished for what she pulled on earlier on.

Her eyes scavenged around the chamber, she expected to be formidably disciplined for it but seems the Alpha didn't have time for her, whatever that was taking him out of town had his full attention and to the sole luck of Ariel she loved it.

She would be given her much-needed rest. Ever since she became a slave here, rest had become a strange thing for her. She wasn't aware of what it felt like to her. Her eyes laid guard on a mysterious portrait on the other edge of the room. It was unlike all the other portraits that were hung in the room, it was different.

It wasn't obvious and didn't look like it had a literal meaning, the portrait looked majestic in a self-proclaimed kind of way. It had the painting of a lady in white with dark shades of her, she was elegant and had blue eyes. She had a silver wolf close to her and Ariel eyed suspiciously.

"is she the Luna?" she asked, she wasn't sure who the questions were directed at but it sure wasn't going to get any answers. She felt as if she was being watched and her eyes trailed upward to the stairs as she saw the Alpha, Damien staring at her, it wasn't in character for him to stare at her In such a manner, there was something about his eyes, about the way he looked at her she couldn't tell instantaneously. There was something about the way his eyes trailed down her body as if they were counting every inch of it that made her stiff. She shrugged, a gaze shouldn't have so much effect on her. Was it fear? Did her fear for the Alpha surpass the undying hatred she was feeling inside her? But it wasn't supposed to. This was someone that made her life miserable, that still makes her life miserable. As he descended down the stairs her body stiffened more, the was way too much gravity that was keeping her stuck at the particular spot where she stood. She could feel a lot of eyes on her, she silently prayed he wasn't headed her way. She wasn't all that religious but she recited the rosary, at least the part she knew she kept saying.

"hail Mary," she knew it wasn't helping as she could feel him inches away from her. Where are the earthquakes and tsunamis when you beseech them? She thought to herself.

He towered over her and she could feel his eyes on her, his eyes were doing more to her than any punishment could. Mentally torturing her, he was a master at his game and she knew exactly why he was doing this. He didn't utter a word, he didn't need to. His eyes were doing more than any word could to her and then her gaze fell back on the portrait. She was trying to distract herself and not stare else she might be intimidated by his presence and that wasn't a good thing for her. She doesn't want to ever appear weak before him if, for anything, she wanted to appear stronger than she was and not timid.

She could feel his eyes follow hers and fall on the portrait too.

"the first ever Luna" he muttered briefly, was he giving her a history lesson, what was she supposed to do or say she didn't want to know anything she just wanted him out of her sight and far from her. She just wanted an earthquake to swallow her and put her out of every form of misery she had been enduring.

"Nice," she said, her voice was shaky and rather too timid. She sounded weak. And just like Mary heard one of her prayers and not the one about the earthquake, he walked away. He didn't utter anything, he just simply walked away, out of the house. Ariel let out another heavy breath of relief, it was clogged in her chest and restricting all her airflow, few more minutes and she would have been suffocating to death. Not that she prayed that upon herself but that wouldn't be the worst kind of idea. She said to herself.

She was about to exist the room as she hasten her footsteps in hope she could make her way to somewhere she could hide for the rest of the day and get her much-needed rest when she saw Mrs. Joslyn approaching her, all the smile she had on her face anticipating her much needed rest slowly disappeared from her face and vanished into thin air.

Mrs. Joslyn the head kitchen staff, decided to keep her composure and gently wipe the tears of joy that came with her few seconds of happiness thinking of rest before the devil decided to reward her happiness with sorrow.

"Where do you think you are going," Mrs. Joslyn said in a rather harsh tone. As she frowned at her, she is a mighty woman, rather too tall for a woman and that made her stature rather intimidating to others. She always wore size eleven men's shoes and that made Ariel sometimes wonder what life would be like, for her. No wonder she was always angry and indignant over everything.

"I am done with my chores for the day and I would like to retire to the servant quarters," she quietly muttered she wasn't afraid of Mrs. Joslyn but she knew better not to raise her voice on her, she knew the power that one woman possesses and could turn her stay here into a living nightmare. Not like it wasn't that already but she wouldn't want it worst in any form of way. And then she breathed out.

"And you the hell gave you the permission to do that when there are dishes to be done and also a pile of laundry waiting for you,"

Tears escaped down Ariel's eyes.

"I am not on laundry duties this week" she mumbled as frustration hit her. Mrs. Joslyn stared at her for a moment and laughed heartily, it wasn't a joyous laugh, it was a rather hysterical one.

"I tell you what duty you will be on and when. So stop whining like a toddler and get on it now," she yelled at her as everyone's eyes fell back on her.

"but___" before she could finish that statement the large palms of Mrs. Joslyn's hands met her face with a rather resounding slap. She almost spun around due to the impact but rather she placed her feets solid on the ground to keep herself from falling as her hands held her right cheek which most definitely would need to be iced to prevent it from swelling up.

"Now get to work," she yelled at her, and as Ariel walked out of the room and headed to the kitchen to do her imposed chores tears fell down her eyes uncontrollably. She did nothing and didn't deserve all the cruelty she met and experienced ever since she became a slave here. All for what a sin of her father. She wished she could just die.
