Chapter 12: 12: A Monster

Boom!

Before the Stardust Crusaders could take any action, they saw a figure crash through the ceiling, hurled from the upper floors of the mansion.

For a brief moment, the Crusaders thought it was Mr. Borsalino, who had fallen victim to DIO's assault. Fortunately, Joseph, with his years of wisdom and experience, stopped Polnareff from rushing forward to help.

"How terrifying… I almost got killed just now,"

A second figure leapt down from the upper floor—a calm, smiling Borsalino.

Despite having faced both the collapsing mansion and DIO's attack, Borsalino showed no signs of injury. Even his floral shirt and beach shorts were spotless, completely unruffled.

In stark contrast, the Stardust Crusaders—who had just ganged up on and defeated Vanilla Ice—looked disheveled and dusty from the collapsing debris. The difference between them was obvious to anyone with eyes.

"You bastard! What kind of monster are you?!"

DIO, with his limbs bent unnaturally, pulled himself out of the crater he had been smashed into. His face was full of shock as he glared at Borsalino and shouted furiously.

This man's speed, strength, and durability were all far beyond his own. A creature with no apparent weaknesses—what else could he be but a monster?

"What's going on here? That guy… that's DIO, right?"

Polnareff was utterly confused.

Wasn't the normal progression supposed to be that the isolated Mr. Borsalino gets ambushed and gravely injured? At the critical moment, they swoop in to rescue him from DIO's clutches. Then, everyone bands together to defeat the villain, leading to a triumphant, happy ending.

How did it turn into DIO being the one who got smashed through the ceiling, looking like he'd been thoroughly beaten, while calling Borsalino a monster?

Polnareff wasn't the only one baffled. Even Joseph, with his vast life experience, had to admit that he had never encountered a situation like this before.

"This is too much," Borsalino said with feigned concern, scratching his head as if troubled. "I don't want to be called a monster by someone who doesn't die even after losing their head."

This innocent, unbothered demeanor completely enraged DIO.

In his long and storied life, it was the first time he'd encountered someone like Borsalino—someone he couldn't overpower physically or outwit verbally.

He was a hundred times more infuriating than Jonathan Joestar!

"Die already! Za Warudo! Muda muda muda muda…!"

Enraged, DIO activated his Stand once again!

In the world where time had stopped, his Stand—resembling a diver—launched a furious barrage of punches at Borsalino.

But, just like countless times before, even punches that could shatter steel plates barely left a mark on Borsalino. Not even his hair was ruffled.

The dark, mysterious substance surrounding him acted like a mythic suit of armor, protecting the irritating monster from any harm.

Whether intentional or not, DIO's Stand suddenly launched a kick aimed directly at Borsalino's groin.

Considering that all previous attacks had been futile, this kick was more of an act of frustration.

*Bang!*

What DIO didn't expect, however, was that even though time had stopped, and Borsalino should have been motionless, he suddenly kicked DIO's Stand away in the last second of the time stop!

The Stand was sent flying, and DIO was pulled along with it, tumbling across the ground, rolling over a dozen times.

"You can't kick there."

Borsalino, clearly annoyed, glared at DIO. While being kicked there wouldn't have harmed him, this was a matter that concerned Nami's lifelong happiness, and he couldn't let it slide.

"It's impossible! Time has already stopped! Why can you still move?!"

DIO, lying on the ground in an awkward position, was both shocked and terrified as he howled in frustration. Time stop was his proud ability, yet here it was, so easily broken!

"Well, how should I explain this to you? It's really too complicated. Let's just say that, theoretically, time stops when you reach the speed of light... so time stop doesn't work on me."

Borsalino didn't know how to explain the theory of relativity to DIO, so he decided to use the simplest explanation possible.

The time stop ability was ineffective on him.

However, Borsalino still couldn't achieve true time reversal... at least, not yet.

"How is that possible? How could a human reach the speed of light?! You're clearly a monster!"

DIO's mentality finally cracked. To be fair, he didn't believe in such nonsense about light speed or time reversal.

But seeing that Borsalino was unaffected by his time stop ability was crystal clear, and what terrified DIO even more was that time stop had no effect on Borsalino. His own confidence to continue fighting Borsalino evaporated.

"We can't let Mr. Borsalino fight alone! Let's go together!"

Without any knowledge of what happened during the five seconds of time stop, all they saw was DIO's Stand suddenly appearing in front of Borsalino to launch an attack, only to be kicked away by Borsalino.

Seeing it as the signal to start, Kakyoin immediately called out and released his Stand.

"Then let's go! Silver Chariot!"

The Stardust Crusaders had no hesitation and released their Stands, charging toward DIO.

DIO could only curse as he saw this. He was the one fighting alone, not them! Didn't they see how badly he was getting beaten by this monster? How could they attack him like this?

But soon, DIO realized this was the perfect opportunity. The monster could ignore his attacks and time stop ability, but that didn't mean the others could.

If he could seize a hostage, he could threaten these hypocrites into letting him go or even force them to turn on each other!

"Give me enough time, and I'll find that monster's weakness!"

DIO wasn't opposed to running away. If he couldn't win, why stay and wait for death?

Besides, if he couldn't find Borsalino's weakness, DIO still had his final trump card!

Worst case, he could sleep underwater for another hundred years!

"If I couldn't beat Jonathan Joestar, can I not beat you, Joseph Joestar?"

Revitalized, DIO grinned cruelly and unleashed his Stand again.

"Za Warudo!"

His Stand, resembling a diver, quickly avoided Borsalino's direction and dashed toward the Stardust Crusaders, who appeared to be frozen in amber in the world where time had stopped.

In that moment, DIO was fully prepared to deal with Borsalino!

But what he didn't expect was that the monster simply stood still, seemingly indifferent to the fate of his companions falling into DIO's hands.

Chapter 13: 13: Spoils of War

Seeing that The World was now only a step away from the Stardust Crusaders, even DIO couldn't help but show a hint of joy.

As long as he had a hostage, escape was still possible. As the villain, DIO didn't have any resolve to fight to the death.

Naturally, DIO's target was Jotaro. Not only because Jotaro had the bloodline of the Joestar family, but more importantly, because Jotaro was still young.

If DIO hadn't witnessed the power of Kizaru, he might have considered leaving a few descendants of the Joestar family alive to avoid too much boredom in the future.

But thinking about it now, it was better not to. The last thing he wanted was for a few of Jotaro's descendants to pop up when he returned to action.

First, he'd capture Jotaro as a hostage, then escape, and after draining his blood, he could grow even stronger.

"Yare yare daze..."

However, what DIO didn't expect was that, just as The World was about to grab Jotaro, Jotaro suddenly raised his head, adjusting his hat, despite theoretically being in the time-stop state.

Having previously been caught off guard by Kizaru, DIO was terrified!

He never imagined that, aside from that unbeatable monster, even Jotaro could move in the time-stop world.

In the next moment, Jotaro's Stand, Star Platinum, swung its fist and punched through The World's chest.

Caught off guard, DIO was blasted away by the force of the punch.

Having experienced time-stop several times himself and knowing that his Stand, Star Platinum, had also gained the ability to stop time, Jotaro could now control time-stop as well.

Although Jotaro and Star Platinum could only move for a brief moment during time-stop, this surprise attack heavily wounded DIO.

"DIO... huh? What just happened?"

The five seconds of time-stop quickly passed, and the Stardust Crusaders only saw a blur before them.

The source of all evil, DIO, had been punched through the chest and was lying on the ground, glaring fiercely at Jotaro.

"Time-stop, huh? That's nothing special."

Jotaro, who had always been quiet, didn't mind saying a few words to make DIO's mindset crumble, especially since DIO was such a vile villain.

"Bastard! Impossible! Impossible! Wah...!"

DIO couldn't believe it. Not only had his time-stop ability failed to work on Kizaru, but now even Jotaro had broken through it. This sent DIO into a near-mad state.

Before his injuries could even heal, he summoned his Stand again.

"ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA..."

However, before DIO could activate his Stand ability, Jotaro preemptively stopped time.

In the time-stop world, Jotaro's Stand, Star Platinum, moved at an incredible speed toward DIO, grabbing DIO's shoulder and positioning him at the most optimal angle to strike.

Then came a barrage of furious ORA ORA punches. Although up until now the Stardust Crusaders hadn't sustained any injuries and their progress felt almost like a leisurely outing, only Jotaro knew the truth.

If it weren't for joining the Dimensional Chat Group and receiving Kizaru's help, even if he could defeat DIO, he would have lost several companions in the process.

"Scary..."

In the time-stop world, Kizaru couldn't help but comment with a sense of detachment.

If it weren't for his advice, even though Jotaro had gained time-stop ability, DIO wouldn't have been completely powerless against him.

Jotaro's time-stop ability wasn't yet on the same level as DIO's five-second time-stop. Soon, time began to flow again.

"Ah..."

Before DIO could even make a sound, he was relentlessly pounded into the ground by a barrage of punches.

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...

Jotaro showed no mercy during his ORA ORA barrage. The moment time resumed, dozens, perhaps hundreds, of punches hammered DIO into an unrecognizable form.

His body became like a heap of mush embedded in the ground, unable to move despite his vampire regeneration, even with his inhuman recovery abilities.

Only the flattened face of DIO remained, faintly showing traces of unwillingness and fear.

"Let's end this here. Let me think of a name for this move... Got it! Sunshine Radiance!"

Kizaru snapped his fingers lightly.

Endless light poured from his body, a brilliant radiance so dazzling that it lit up the entire dark night sky, turning it into day.

It was as if the sun had risen over Cairo at that very moment, purging all darkness and filth from the world.

Before DIO could even make a sound, he was turned into smoke, vanishing from the world in the blinding light.

"..."

The Stardust Crusaders were completely speechless, and Polnareff, who was staring at Kizaru, even shed tears of 'emotion.'

"The Sun God..."

Avdol murmured softly.

As a local of Egypt, Kizaru's display was so extraordinary that this somewhat eccentric diviner momentarily believed that he must be the Sun God Ra from Egyptian mythology.

As for why the Sun God would personally appear? It was easy to explain. After all, DIO's subordinates were so arrogant, daring to impersonate one of the Nine Pillars. The real master had come to set things right.

"So strong... What was that just now?! What happened to you... the light... the sun..."

Polnareff was so excited that he babbled incoherently, but he didn't realize that, apart from him, both Kakyoin and Joseph were cleverly pretending nothing had happened. Even Iggy, the dog, gave him a look of contempt.

The big boss... No, the great deity clearly didn't want to expose their identity and had prepared a fake name. Why do you have to be the one to blabber?

Now that he thought about it, DIO's death was truly not in vain. The Sun God Ra was the supreme deity in Egyptian mythology. If the great god personally intervened, even DIO's death was worth it.

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Borsalino."

Jotaro, although not likely to mistake Kizaru for a god, couldn't help but feel shocked by his immense power.

"No need for thanks, it wasn't charity. As per our previous agreement, the spoils are mine."

Kizaru took out a few test tubes and shook them.

Inside were the blood and flesh remnants, left behind after Star Platinum pierced through DIO's chest.

Although DIO himself had been completely wiped out by Polnareff's Sunshine Radiance, the blood and flesh that remained were preserved and didn't vanish with his demise.

"Of course, there's also that..."

Jotaro nodded and helped Kizaru search through DIO's mansion. Eventually, they found the most important spoils on the top floor of the still-intact tower.
