Chapter 106: Spoonfed
The spoon hovers in front of my face like a mother bird feeding its chick. I shoot Logan my best death glare, but his amused smirk only grows wider.
"Open up." He waves the spoon. A drop of golden broth threatens to fall on my hospital gown.
I press my lips together and cross my arms. The movement squeezes at my IV line, leaving my elbow feeling a bit bruised, but it's worth it for the dramatic effect.
"The doctor said clear liquids only." Logan's voice carries that infuriating mix of authority and tenderness that makes my stomach flutter. "And since you can't talk..."
My scowl deepens. The breathing tube removal left my throat feeling like I'd swallowed broken glass coated in fire ants and tiny demons stabbing me with pitchforks. Even if I wanted to tell him exactly where he could stick that spoon, I physically can't.
"Come on, Nikki." He leans closer, his forest-green eyes sparkling with mischief. "You need to eat something."

Thank you all for your patience. For those of you who haven't read my notes in TIMU; my entire family was sick with something strange for three weeks, ending up with bronchitis and mild pneumonia and way too many courses of antibiotics. We're mostly better now, though our lungs haven't fully recovered - whatever it is seems to be going around in our part of the US, so please be mindful of your health, everyone!
But far worse is, as soon as I got better, I managed to break my hand/wrist after a fall. I will still be writing, and had hoped to be writing a lot more, but the pain is actually surprisingly really bad and it's very hard to write stories with one hand.
However, I will still be updating. It's just at a much slower rate than normal. I'm so sorry it's taken so long! This has honestly been the absolute worst, and it's been really rough on all of us. I can't drive or do anything on my own, so it's hard even to get to the office in the first place.
It's horrible. I don't recommend breaking any bones. It sucks. At first I was glad it wasn't my leg, but now I wish I could just sit on my couch and have a broken leg instead!
Updates on writing schedules/my illnesses/my stupid broken hand can always be had on discord.
