Detective James Harper was sitting in the dim, all-too-familiar glow of the megacity police station while chaos broke out in the crooked, twisted mirror of Blackthorn University. The fluorescent lights above gave the worn desks and tired faces of his fellow cops a pale, eerie glow. But something wasn't right tonight.

After years on the police force, Harper's gut told her that something wasn't right. For months, he had been looking into the shady links between Blackthorn University and the criminal underground.
