Chapter 346: Chapter 346

"Awake? Looks like you're recovering well."

As Temari opened her eyes, she heard this voice and turned her head to see two Sand ninja standing by her bedside. Their familiar headbands made her sigh in relief, grateful to have survived the attack of that monstrous creature.

"How long was I unconscious? Where's Gaara?"

The squad leader frowned at her question and scolded, "The Kazekage isn't someone you can just meet as you wish. First, explain yourself—what destroyed the lightning train tracks? What happened last night? And who are you?"

"What? What are you talking about? I'm Temari, Gaara's sister!"

Hearing his stern tone, Temari was stunned. How could these Sand ninja not recognize her? The squad leader, clearly a veteran of the Fourth Great Ninja War, should have known who she was.

"Temari? The Kazekage's sister? What nonsense are you spouting? The Kazekage only has one brother, not a sister!"

The squad leader's cold response made it clear he suspected her of hiding information. Believing she might be connected to the destruction of the train, his expression hardened as he declared, "Since you refuse to cooperate, we'll leave it to the ANBU to handle your interrogation."

Ignoring her protests, the two Sand ninja left, leaving Temari bound to the bed.

"Idiots! How could they not know me? Has no one in the village mentioned me since I married into Konoha?"

Despite her frustration, Temari chose not to struggle. She believed her identity as Gaara's sister was undeniable. Once someone else arrived, they would surely recognize her.

However, her thoughts returned to the strange creature that attacked her. It resembled a whale, but it floated in the sky. Could it be one of the disasters Shikamaru had mentioned? Temari recalled injuring the beast, though she wasn't certain if it was truly a whale.

As she pondered, two masked ANBU entered the room, positioning themselves on either side of her bed. Their behavior seemed to imply they were preventing her from escaping.

"What are you doing? I'm Temari! Gaara and Kankuro's sister! Have you not told Kankuro about this?"

One ANBU responded coldly, "Kankuro and the Kazekage have no sister. Kankuro is the Kazekage's only sibling, and this is common knowledge in the village."

The other added harshly, "If you plan to lie, at least make it believable. Now, will you cooperate and explain what happened last night, or shall we extract the truth ourselves?"

Temari froze, realizing the ANBU weren't joking. Such behavior wasn't typical of Sand ninja, especially regarding something as serious as this.

Land of Fire

Yoichi's Tenseigan clone was traveling with a merchant caravan when an eerie cry echoed in the distance. It came without warning, as though it had materialized from nowhere.

"On guard!" the caravan's guards shouted, quickly surrounding the convoy. The cry's sheer volume suggested the presence of a massive beast.

"Should we turn back or take a detour?" one guard asked the caravan leader.

"No need. Let's wait and see. It might pass quickly," the Tenseigan clone said calmly.

Leaving a shadow clone behind, Yoichi's Tenseigan clone moved ahead, activating his Byakugan to scout the source of the sound.

Through his enhanced vision, he spotted a dense white fog floating several kilometers away, rapidly approaching.

"What kind of mist is this? Even the Byakugan can't penetrate it."

Though he couldn't see through the fog, he sensed a dangerous presence within.

"Could this be one of those otherworldly creatures? What bad luck to encounter it here..."

Sighing, he activated the Tenseigan Chakra Mode, his body enveloped in green chakra. The iconic sage cloak formed around him, and nine black truth-seeking orbs floated behind him.

Gathering three orbs in his hand, he transformed them into a radiant golden blade of energy.

"Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion!"

With a swift motion, he thrust the golden blade into the fog, aiming for its center, where the beast likely resided.

A mournful whale-like cry reverberated as his attack struck the target. Swinging the blade horizontally, he cleaved through the creature, scattering a crimson rain of blood from the fog.

Moments later, a massive white whale, nearly 30 meters in length, emerged from the mist and crashed to the ground, splitting a large swath of forest.

With the whale's demise, the fog began to dissipate, revealing the creature's full form.

"A flying whale? What kind of otherworldly monster is this, and what are its abilities?"

The battle had ended too swiftly for the Tenseigan clone to observe its powers. Flying over to the whale's corpse, he used his Byakugan to examine its interior, finding numerous treasures, including over a dozen treasure chests.

"These must be the rewards brought by the otherworldly beast," he surmised.

After cleansing the area with a water jutsu, he retrieved the most valuable items: books radiating an unknown energy and multicolored minerals resembling natural stones.

The remaining items consisted of corroded jewelry and damaged chests, which, while valuable, didn't interest Yoichi much. Nonetheless, he stored everything in one of his spatial rings obtained through [Interdimensional Trade].

Returning to the caravan, he instructed the guards to scout the area, using the whale's corpse as a pretext to report the incident to Konoha. Even if they investigated, they would find no connection to him.

Chapter 347: Chapter 347

"Get lost, and don't think of pretending to be the Kazekage's relative again!"

The Sand ninja escorted Temari to the village gate and promptly threw her out. Although they confirmed she wasn't responsible for the lightning train's destruction, her claims of being related to Gaara and Kankuro annoyed them enough to expel her.

"Leave the Sand Village, and stay out of the Land of Wind!"

The Sand ninja returned to their posts, leaving Temari behind.

"Hmph! You idiots. When I restore your memories, you'll all owe me apologies—especially Gaara," Temari muttered bitterly.

Despite knowing her brothers weren't at fault for this bizarre situation, she felt disheartened. Her primary goal now was to return to Konoha. Surely, Shikamaru and Shikadai wouldn't have forgotten her too?

But even that thought brought a tinge of worry. Not waiting for the train repairs, Temari quickly set off toward Konoha.

At the same time, Konoha received a report from the Tenseigan clone's merchant caravan.

When the dispatched Konoha ninjas arrived at the scene, they were stunned. A 70-meter-long white whale lay dead on land—an inconceivable sight.

Even more bizarre, the whale appeared to have been gutted, its horn and several organs missing.

The ninjas questioned the merchant caravan, but the guards claimed ignorance, having only heard strange noises. Left with no leads, the Konoha team decided to bring the whale's massive corpse back for study.

Given the ongoing missions involving mysterious creatures, some suspected a connection to the disasters they were investigating. Without proof, however, they could only escalate the matter.

After the Konoha team departed with the whale, the merchant caravan resumed its journey. Meanwhile, the Tenseigan clone discreetly handed all recovered treasures to the Kamui clone, who delivered them to Yoichi's true body in Konoha.

The clones worked seamlessly: the Tenseigan clone expanded Yoichi's influence in the ninja world, gathering intelligence, while the Kamui clone caused chaos as a shadowy antagonist. Yoichi's true body, in contrast, remained in Konoha, focused on unlocking the greatest treasures of the ninja world.

"Finally back."

Having traveled tirelessly, Temari reached Konoha at dusk. Her former status no longer valid, she resorted to sneaking in.

Exhausted from the journey and her injuries, she hurried to the Nara household, hoping Shikamaru and Shikadai would recognize her.

"Please, don't let them forget me too," she prayed silently, leaning against a wall to catch her breath.

"Hey, Auntie, what are you doing here?"

Temari turned sharply at the familiar voice. Seeing Shikadai, her heart leapt with relief, but her joy quickly turned to concern as she realized how he addressed her.

Rushing to him, she grabbed his shoulders. "Shikadai! It's me, your mother. Don't you recognize me?"

"Ouch, let go!" Shikadai winced, pulling away.

Eyeing her suspiciously, he asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"

"It's me! Your mother!" Temari exclaimed desperately.

Shikadai's expression darkened. "Don't joke about the dead. My mother passed away years ago. Leave, or I'll call the guard."

"Shikadai!"

As her son stormed past her, Temari's voice broke with anger and heartbreak. She stomped the ground in frustration, barely holding back tears.

Even her own child didn't remember her. That realization stung more than she could bear.

Still, she refused to give up. Shikamaru was the most intelligent person she knew—if anyone could help, it was him.

"This has to be the work of that foggy white whale," Temari thought bitterly, making her way to the Hokage's office.

But without her official status, the heightened security at Konoha prevented her from entering. Forced to wait outside, she requested someone deliver a message to Shikamaru.

After half an hour, Shikamaru emerged, his expression curious yet guarded.

"You were looking for me?" he asked politely.

"Listen to me. You might not believe this, but I'm your wife, Temari. Our son is Shikadai. Eight years ago, you proposed to me and said..."

Temari recounted their history, carefully explaining her encounter with the foggy white whale and its apparent ability to erase memories.

Before Shikamaru could respond, Ino exited the Hokage's office and greeted him.

"Still here, Shikamaru? Who's this?"

"I'm Temari," she began, but Shikamaru cut her off.

"Just someone I don't know. I was about to leave," he said, dismissively.

Turning back to Temari, his tone grew cold. "Don't joke about Shikadai's mother. I won't forgive you for it."

"Shikamaru, I'm telling the truth! That white whale erased everyone's memories of me. You've mentioned an onmyoji in Konoha who predicted these disasters. He could help us!"

Shikamaru froze. Few knew about Yoichi, the mysterious onmyoji assisting Konoha. Temari's knowledge of him—and her detailed recollection of his past—made him pause.

"Come with me," he said finally, leading her back into the Hokage's office.

Naruto looked up as Shikamaru entered. "Back already? Something wrong?"

Pointing to Temari, Shikamaru asked, "Do you recognize her?"

Naruto frowned. "No. Should I?"

Temari left the room as instructed, and Shikamaru relayed her story to Naruto.

Naruto scratched his head. "Weird. Everyone knows your wife passed away years ago. Why would someone make up something like this?"

"She knows about the onmyoji and details of my past only someone close to me would know," Shikamaru replied.

Naruto nodded. "If that white whale really altered memories, it's terrifying. Let's consult Sasuke—his Rinnegan might detect traces of manipulation. Meanwhile, take her to Yoichi. If anyone can make sense of this, it's him."

"Alright," Shikamaru agreed.

As Shikamaru left with Temari, Naruto called for a ninja to gather more information.

"If that whale's power is as strong as she claims, it might have left traces in others' memories. Let's see if her story checks out," Naruto said grimly.

Shikamaru led Temari through Konoha, heading for Yoichi's pharmacy. Though skeptical, he couldn't deny the strange familiarity he felt toward the woman claiming to be his wife.
