Well, Kreacher was very happy to have a guest around. When the ancient grumpy elf heard that Pansy was a pure-blood from the Parkinson family, his face lit literally up and looked a few decades younger. Harry could have sworn he had heard the elf talking about finally having a proper pure-blood lady around to take care of the family. He wasn't sure what the confused elf was assuming, but this was a door he didn't want to open right now.
Kreacher was happy with the presence of Pansy, and she was beginning to get used to Grimmauld Place while still working at her small job. She was actually working at one of the restaurants in Diagon Alley.
Meanwhile, Harry was using his time until the delivery came to meditate on his occlumency, getting more order into his chaotic mind, which was still overflowing with a massive amount of information. Besides his occlumency practice, he also began to sketch down the necessary schematics for the sensor array he was creating soon, making sure to have a detailed design for each part of the device.
He was planning to use transmutation, an advanced form of transfiguration and alchemy that he found in the Black Library, to create the device. After all, he didn't really have the necessary tools to create advanced pieces of technology without trouble.
That had been the same problem for the Ancients when they returned from the Pegasus Galaxy to Earth ten thousand years ago. Back then, human civilization was still in the hunter-gatherer stage, without any proper tools for the Ancients to rebuild their civilization. Instead, a part of them chose to ascend, while another explored the galaxy before ascending, and some stayed behind to blend in with the humans, unwittingly creating the Wizard Race.
Now, Earth was advanced enough to create more advanced tools, but it would be a long process of creating tools to create even more advanced tools with them until he had the necessary equipment for his plans. Instead, he chose a shortcut the Ancients didn't have back then. His control over zero-point energy allows him to manipulate the world around him.
With transmutation, he would be able to directly create the necessary parts with proper visualization and control. Still, it not only required the raw materials since transmutation was different from transfiguration, but it would also require some practice for him. And that was what he was lastly doing besides practicing the mind arts and drawing the schematics for proper visualization.
"Harry, I put the delivery into the backyard," Pansy said as she came into the kitchen a few days after she moved into Grimmauld Place.
"And you did confound them properly and remove the memories of you levitating the goods?" Harry asked to make sure as he stood up from the kitchen table.
"Yes." Pansy nodded.
She had agreed to help him for free for now as a repayment that she could live here, but she kept her job. Once he had a company running with some income, she would become an employee under him. Although the position wasn't clear yet, Harry had only a rough idea about the business. It was one of his side plans to create some influence and income on Earth for himself. The real action wasn't on Earth, but out in the universe. He wasn't sure what he wanted to accomplish in detail yet. But one thing was sure: he wanted to reclaim the legacy of his ancestors, the Ancients, and make sure that Earth wouldn't be overrun by a random threat from space.
With the materials having arrived, Pansy let him do his work, as she couldn't really help him here since she had no idea what he was actually doing. Harry began to transmute, with the help of Alchemical Circles, the different parts that he would need for his sensor array. By putting the necessary ingredients into the alchemic circle and having the proper visualization, he was able to transmute even the smallest parts he needed.
Although the process was slower and required a lot of handiwork in comparison to the advanced production methods of the ancients, They had different advanced technologies for such tasks during their long history, from 3D printing, atomic forges, and nanite constructors to actual matter manipulation. But this was the best method Harry had right now.
This sensor array also wouldn't be anything too advanced. He simply didn't have the superconductive resources to create sensors that could sense detailed anything going from a whole planet to a solar system, or the long-range sensors gathering information covering half a galaxy, even being able to penetrate into hyperspace.
But it would be good enough to find any traces of advanced technology, their energy signatures, and even possible traces of Naquadah on the planet. Of course, only their location; nothing too detailed. It was simply the limit of the resources he had. Advanced sensors required superconductive materials to be able to penetrate subspace, allowing them to cover massive ranges in detail.
Once Harry transmuted the last piece of coal into another graphene circuit board, he controlled the pieces he created to make sure all of them were in the right shape. The most important piece of the device was a crystal that he reassembled out of different materials, whose component was quartz. A control crystal
With the help of transmutation, he managed to precisely create each part that he needed for the sensor array. All he had to do now was build it together. With the control crystal as the most central piece, he began to assemble the device piece by piece, each part fitting neatly together. Soon, all that was left was a small circular hole in the device; that piece he also had already ready, but it still needed a critical component. This was also a small experiment for something he needed to confirm.
That small hole was for the power source powering the device. Harry had already created the small, crystal-shaped power source that was able to contain many forms of energy. He could charge it over a power outlet with an adapter if he needed, since the amount of energy required to operate the sensor array wasn't too big; it was only a rudimentary one after all.
And he already had installed power outlets for his electric devices in Grimmauld Place; it was only a myth that electric devices weren't working around magic. In Hogwarts, wards were just placed by a previous headmaster unhappy with the progress of Muggles, which rendered all electronics useless. For some reason, a wrong rumor spread based on that ward that electronics weren't working around magic.
The biggest proof against it was Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic, which were in the center of London. And magic was nothing else but zero-point energy, which was all around them. So Harry took it upon himself to install a few power outlets all around Grimmauld Place by connecting them to his neighbors left and right and borrowing a bit of electricity from them without their knowledge. What else could he do? It wasn't like he could go to an electricity company and ask them to connect his magical home in 1998 to the power grid. This would just scream that something was wrong and get the wrong kind of attention.
But what he really wanted to try was to charge the power source with zero-point energy directly; instead of casting a spell, he wanted to channel it into the power source. It was an important experiment that he needed to perform to answer a few questions he had. Was it possible for him to charge a power source directly with magic? How efficient was it? Could he restore potentia that way?
Harry took the small power crystal he had created, and similar to casting a spell, he channeled the zero-point energy directly into the crystal. After a few minutes, the crystal began to glow. He was indeed able to charge it directly. Unfortunately, the charging rate was far too slow to be able to restore something like a potentia. It was fine for smaller devices like this sensor array, but it was not sustainable in the long term, even for them.
"Harry, I have some tea and lunch for you. It's been a few hours since you started working," Pansy said as she entered the backyard, seeing that the machine he was working on was complete. "Oh, you are done? So what is this thing supposed to do?"
"Thank you for the food, Pansy. You will see soon. Could you bring me my laptop? It's the flat silver box I brought home a few days ago and spent yesterday sitting all day at," Harry described as he took the tablet with food from her hands.
Pansy nodded, still looking at the sensor array. "Sure, I can do that. It was in your room, right?"
"Yes, thank you," Harry replied as he sat down on a chair in the yard.
"Okay, I will be back soon. Eat first, and once I am back, you can show me what this thing does," she said as she left the yard, returning to the building.
Of course, he could have asked Kreacher to bring his laptop. But he felt that Pansy didn't want to be useless and just leech off of him, so he would always look for something she could help him with. After all, he has no real task for her right now.

After Harry had finished his lunch, Pansy returned with the laptop he had bought a few days ago. It was quite clumpy and very slow. But it was enough to interface with the sensor array. He had spent the whole day yesterday studying the level of technology behind this laptop and creating an optimized OS for it, pushing the laptop to its limits. Also, he created software able to interpret the data the sensor array would collect.
It wasn't a supercomputer or something more modern, like a crystal-based computer. But it would do its job. This was miles better than spending a few hours creating a rudimentary computer, which he would only use once or twice. After all, once he had access to a stargate, he would be able to access ancient technology that would allow him to create far more advanced machines with much less work.
"So, what does it do?" Pansy asked as she watched him connect different cables from the Sensor Array to the laptop and boot it up.
"You will see," Harry said as he typed something into the laptop. And the screen began to show an exact 3D model of the planet, while a loading bar was filling up on the bottom of the screen.
Soon the loading bar completely filled up, and multiple different-colored dots appeared all over the model of Earth. There were more than Harry had expected. There shouldn't actually be any besides the two he could see in Antarctica.
"Okay, there are different dots spread over the different continents," Pansy asked, not really impressed by what she was seeing. It looked a bit underwhelming in comparison to how excited Harry had been about this whole thing.
"Oh, my dear Pansy," Harry said, making the girl blush slightly upon hearing the word dear. "You have no idea what you are actually seeing here. Some of these dots represent the legacy of our ancient ancestors, who were far more advanced and powerful than our current people or the Muggles today. They once ruled over the stars we can see in the sky before they left for another place a thousand years ago," Harry explained in a short summary.
"The stars?" Pansy asked, now completely confused. Of course, they had studied astrology at Hogwarts. But traveling to the stars was impossible. There was no air there to breathe.
"Indeed, a lot was forgotten by our people over time. But I will bring it back." Harry nodded while clicking on one of the dots in Antarctica, reading the data he had gathered about them. "See that place. This is an outpost left behind by our ancestors. The dot next to it is one of their gates, allowing people to travel to the stars."
"I don't believe you. You are making this up," Pansy said stubbornly. There was no way any of this was true. He was just making fun of her by showing her some dots on a Muggle thing.
"I know that you don't believe me for now. But you will see," Harry said with a smirk, pleased with himself that his sensor was working as intended.
"Even if this were true, why would you tell me about it?" Pansy pointed it out. She wasn't naive. There was no way Harry was truly trusting her right now, not with their history.
"I am not. But who would believe you? You aren't even believing me right now. And I am the only person who is helping you right now. So would you really throw it away by betraying me? You experienced how your former friends are," Harry pointed out, while adding in his head that it was also a test to see whether he could trust her a bit.
Even if she were to betray him right now, they wouldn't know what they were looking for and would only have rough locations on a global map. Right now, she was no threat to him, but he needed to know if he could trust her if he truly wanted to employ her in the future.
Pansy nodded in understanding. He had a point. There was actually no one in her old friend circle who she could trust. Many of her old friends were in Azkaban or dead; the few Slytherins still free and alive had either thrown her aside or she wasn't really close to them.
"Okay, I am glad your project is working as you intended. Although I am still not sure what it really is, But my shift starts soon. I need to go to work. Don't forget to drink like this morning," she reminded him as she left the yard.
Harry just nodded as he focused on the data the sensor array was gathering. There were multiple shocking anomalies that were outside of his expectations. The amount of dots is only the most superficial one. It only meant that there were more opportunities for him to study or even get some useful tools early on.
The dots in Antarctica were inside his expectations, like he thought the outpost had run out of power but was still safely there. The ancients built their structures to last. In the meantime, the Stargate left behind by the Ancients, originally a few hundred meters away from the outpost, had moved multiple kilometers thanks to the glacial shift. It was intact but deactivated, just like the Ancients had left it behind. Its clavis still had power, but according to these readings, barely enough for around four dials.
These were the expected things; the unexpected ones were, for example, another Stargate on the planet. One is located somewhere in Colorado, inside the Rocky Mountains. Even more unexpected was that it was active and in use; he recorded a few minutes ago an outgoing wormhole somewhere. Hopefully, it was just the United States having discovered a stargate and figured out how to use it; he didn't like the other possibilities of extraterrestrial life establishing a base on Earth. Members of the great alliance wouldn't do this; they have agreed to let the human race develop by themselves. Other civilizations could spell trouble for him. So the best-case scenario was that it was the U.S.
A more pressing question was: how did the Gate get here? It wasn't left behind by the Ancients. They knew that Earth or Terra had a stargate at the Outpost Terra Atlantus and knew how to activate it.
So a few things must have happened in the last ten thousand years on Earth. The few other dots confirming it, for example, were two dots again in the U.S., or rather, close by, just in the ocean in front of the state of New Jersey.
Based on these readings, he could confirm the presence of a small amount of Naquadah and an advanced energy source. Both dots were the same and right above each other.
There was one other dot in the U.S. only, indicating the presence of some smaller devices using Naquadah. But nothing major. Just north of the city of Seattle.
Then there is another dot in Russia; this he could confirm was another Clavis to control the Gate, most likely from the second Stargate in the U.S., and it had enough power to last easily another million years.
But the most interesting dot was in Egypt; these were energy readings and amounts of Naquadah big enough to indicate an actual spaceship or some bigger device of advanced technology. Not as advanced as anything of the ancients, but advanced enough to be of hyperspace quality.
Whatever it was, it could become immensely useful. If it were a ship, it would give him more freedom to travel than he had expected to get so soon. Hopefully, this was an actual ship; it would make getting to the outpost far easier, as he could install the energy drill directly on it. He could probably reuse some of the ship's systems and their Naquadah to build a ring transporter to access the outpost more easily.
He also should get the two small devices in front of the U.S. Coast, at least to study them and later use their Naquadah to save some of the ship's systems in order to build the ring transporter. They weren't enough for a full transporter, but they would help to not sacrifice any critical systems.
Checking the dot above Seattle could also be worthwhile. But it is quite close to a populated area, so it's possible that they aren't left behind but actually used by people.
Well, if it was a ship, Whatever it was, it seemed he would go to Egypt and the U.S. soon. It was probably also better to take a short look at the second Stargate in Colorado, although he had to be careful; if it was an advanced alien race, they could have technology to detect life signs and cloaked objects. After all, the disillusionment charm was only another version of a cloak.
If they were humans, he needed to take a look at what they were doing and maybe get some of their intelligence. If this was a full-blown military operation, it is possible that they have gathered intel about the state of the galaxy—maybe even a few pieces of useful technology.
Seeing how they were using their gate without a clavis would also be interesting. He doesn't believe they were dialing manually. But he was sure that if they were humans, they were using the gate not for long yet. The technological level of Earth and the amount of advanced readings with his sensor array were too low.
He wasn't even sure if there were more sources of alien technology on the planet. The energy readings and the amount of Naquadah in the two devices were pretty much the lowest his sensor could detect. Smaller weapons could also be on Earth, but they weren't picked up by his sensors. They simply weren't good enough for this.
Of course, he knew of another location right here in Britain that was hidden from such rudimentary sensors, but it was of no interest to him since he already knew what there was. After all, the Avalon Vault hidden below Glastonbury Tor was hidden by Merlin, who left him all his knowledge.
