Chapter 42: Chapter 42: I Have a Better Idea

The rain began to slam into the building and all around us. I’d forgotten about the nor’easter. It started so quickly, with thunder and lightning before the rain came. I worried about Carrigan out in the storm, unsure if she was safe. Why was she so damn stubborn? We should have been with her, no matter the costs.

I racked my brain, trying to figure out how the hell I was going to help her. Carrigan seemed to think everyone around her needed saving when, in reality, she was the only person at risk. I didn’t doubt her family could take care of themselves. But if they were as strong and intelligent as Carrigan made them seem, then she needed our help more than her family needed hers.

I pulled my phone out of my back pocket, trying to figure out where the hell she was going. I knew that her family lived in Maine, but how would I narrow down every township, city, and possible mile she might be headed toward?

“Think you idiot,” I mumbled.
