Chapter 2: Ch.2 The hard truth of a World

* Squish, squish, squish, squish, squish *

With the sound of our shoes sinking into the soft and wet ground, Spher and I have been walking for approximately 48 hours now, It had been raining for the last 12 hours or so, and it just stopped raining. We aren't really bothered, instead, we have a feeling of excitement as we see more of this World.

What we've discovered is that whenever something new happens that links to the natural cycle of this world, the knowledge immediately transfers to our heads. We don't know why, and we don't know how. But I assume that it's a good thing. Walking and walking, I think regular people would've been mentally out right now, but I think we've crossed that point already.

I chuckled as Spher chuckled too, I swear It's like we share thoughts or something, but we don't. She can simply guess what I'm thinking, she's really smart, unlike me. Keep walking in these wet plains, where only a few trees and small ponds of water reside, where all sorts of creatures reside, mostly herbivores and small harmless monsters such as slime.

"Hey, Spher."

"What's up Veesha?"

"Should we follow that river?"

I pointed at a river, that looks like it ends here, but starts somewhere else.

Spher smiles at me as she says, "Sure!" with a smile on her face, like she's hoping for something... I've known her for as long as I can remember, but I can't seem to figure out what Spher's thinking at the moment..

Two hours later, we arrive at the source of the river, which is a waterfall created by the spilling of a large lake, probably somewhere up there beyond that waterfall. I stop walking as I begin to notice something smelling, it seems after I and Spher have walked non-stop, we've been sweating and the smell that comes from the rain and mud that have gotten stuck on us have gotten through our noses.

I look at Spher, she has a big smile on her face, but I can already guess why, so I smiled as I closed my eyes and say what Spher probably wanted to hear.

"Let's bathe!"

"YES!" Spher yelled, I guess that Demons are far less sensitive to shitty smells like we do right now. I'm sorry Spher, but sometimes you have to ask things instead of hinting! Stupid Spher, Spher… Uh…

"Stupid Sphere!"

Spher laughed, as she had already taken off her clothes to go bathe at the start of the river. I followed as I threw my clothes somewhere into the trees.

If anybody suspicious found them, who would know what they would do to two beautiful girls. Just thinking about it makes me want my own personal river.

Ten minutes of chilling in the river and swimming while just enjoying the clean water pass.

"This river is quite lively." I said as I pull out a fish from the river.

Spher chuckled. "I'm afraid to say this… but that fish is already dead."

''Eh? Aww.."

I looked at the fish, it seems to have been beaten by something. Oh well, why should I care? I threw the dead fish into Spher's general direction.

"Kyaaa!" Spher yelled out, jokingly, as she dodged the dead fish which landed somewhere in the bushes, close to our clothes.

Thirty minutes later it had begun to rain, so we got out and couldn't put our clothes back on, they needed to be washed too. I guess we'll have to wait again, luckily we have infinite free time! I think. Spher walked over to me to cuddle, her body feels a little cold. Well, we aren't wearing any clothes at the moment, so it's understandable.

Ten minutes later, the rain stopped, and we could finally wash our clothes, they deserve it!

To wash our clothes effectively, they have to be out in the wind and the sun, good for us that it's sunny. Spher was still cold, so she laid out in the sun, it's hard to resist doing something to her while she's this defenseless, but alas, our clothes are more important for now. So I grabbed a pair of leaves and a few sticks on the ground, and make them into some sort of platform on where our clothes can dry.

Sigh. Let's watch our clothes dry, nothing else to do.

Ten minutes later, Veesha had fallen asleep, and Spher was just staring at the sun, daydreaming about what they would do if they found civilization.

* Boom. Boom. Boom. *

The ground was shaking slightly, as a loud thump could be heard every second or so. The nearby animals fled to seek shelter to anywhere that isn't there. There were a few drops of sweat on my head, as I felt my body heating up quickly. As I looked at the direction of the sound, my heart slowly started beating faster and faster, is this… fear?

I.. I need to get up and go wake Veesha to get out of here.

I quickly grabbed my clothes as I could hear the thumping get closer and feel the ground shaking more and more, the trees were squeaking and being pushed around. For a solid three seconds, I was frozen as I saw a massive creature that resembled a pig, staring at me like it found something.

An Orc King, Pig like humanoids who are stronger and more intelligent than usual Orcs. This one seemed hurt as it was bleeding all over, cuts everywhere, some of his fingers and toes severed, something small and with large numbers injured this oversized monster pig. Checking again, it appears that it has lost all reason. I had no reason to waver, so I yelled, "VEESHA! WAKE THE UP, YOU IDIOT!"

I woke up as I heard screaming, but I immediately knew there was something off as my eyes laid gaze on some disgusting battered Orc, but I couldn't help but shiver.

The Orc yelled, as if it let out some sort of war cry. We heard more footsteps coming from behind the Orc King as we see 3 regular Orcs, they were battered too, more so than their king. They looked at us as if they found a snack.

"Spher, on the count of three, we book it."

"I agree."

The orcs started running at us, we couldn't even begin counting.

"THREE-EEEEEEEEEEEE!" I tried to run away as fast as possible and saw Spher run right next to me, The Orcs were right behind us with their king trailing us. I could hear their moans, their desires, their pants, everything was so loud yet so dim at the same time. Guess this is how things work, huh. A world isn't forgiving at all, If you mess up even in the slightest bit you will get stabbed by the thing called fate.

Spher and I ran as we were beginning to outrun the Orcs, being beaten up didn't do their stamina too well. That's what you get! Hahahahaha! I celebrated our early victory as Spher pointed at the end of a cliff, but we had no choice other than just jumping.

Ten meters, five, four, three, I looked behind me and saw the orcs closer than I had anticipated and made a misstep, I TRIPPED.

"VEEEESHAAAAA!" Spher cried out as she saw it happen, just when she had already jumped too. I got up as fast as I could, In the heart of the fear, the anger, the sweat, and the tears, an Orc caught up to me, everything seemed so slow. It's like time had stopped. My heart was beating at an intense rate, was I going to die? It can't end here..

Right?

The Orc tried grabbing me and failed, cutting off a big piece of my right arm's flesh, screaming as I ran. No… I can't let it end here. Furthermore, I REFUSE TO END THINGS HERE!

With particles from the air surrounding Veesha, She burst forwards with a sudden boost in speed, causing her to fall off the cliff which Spher had already jumped off too.

As I was falling, blood slowly dripped from my right arm as I slowly closed my eyes. W-What was that… I did it… Haha… I survived.

"Veesha! Veeeeeeeeshaaaaaa!"

Some time had passed, and I hear an annoying voice, where am I? Wait, I know that voice. It's Spher's voice. So we both survived... Ahh.. I'm glad, we survived that!! I jumped up and bumped my head into Spher's accidentally.

"OW!" We both yelled out in unison.

Tears were flowing in my eyes as I sat on the ground with my clothes back on, I looked at Spher as I hugged her, and she hugged me. Wait, what about my wound? I don't feel anything out of the ordinary with my right arm. The hugging stopped, so I looked at my right arm, there was a massive scar there. How long has it been? It must've taken at least a week to heal that.

"So… How long was I out for?" I asked Spher, hoping it wasn't too long because I'm afraid she'd be lonely.

"Luckily just one day you dummy!" Spher hugged me again, it seems she has a surprisingly soft side to her. Well, I'm not one to talk. But one day? That's some serious healing.

"Also… You fell on top of me. Because of you, I had to clean my clothes again! It was covered in blood!"

"I'm sorry?"

Spher smacked me on the head. I let out an ouch and saw Spher smiling. "Next time, let's do it the smart way. Now that we've confirmed that there are plenty of dangerous things." I nodded.

After falling off a cliff while experiencing pure fear, we ended up in another part of the forest, it looked like the end of the forest because we could already see a light up ahead. I looked at Spher, and she looked at me, She understood what I wanted to do, so I ran towards the exit of the forest to find something truly exciting!

When we ran out of the forest, we came to see a massive city! With a massive line of carriages. In those carriages were people, mostly human but there were a lot of demi-humans too, in cages even. Wait. Cages? Slavery? I turned my head to Spher, and she seemed as mad as I was. That might just be common Human nature, and it's not like Spher and I grew up anywhere.

"Let's get into that city." I told Spher.

"You see that too, don't you!? Slavery!"

"I know, but we simply have to enter civilization, otherwise we will never know anything."

Spher sighed and put her hand on my shoulder. "It's settled then, let's get into that city!"
