Chapter 185: A pleasure making your acquaintance

Concluding our little board meeting, I exited my mind space as my consciousness returned to my body. As I opened my eyes the same grassy field appeared in my eyes.

I turned my head towards the stands only to find everyone looking down as if they were asleep.

"You can wake them up now," I said out loud.

{Got it!} Achlys responded.

As soon as I heard his voice everyone seemed to have awoken as their heads rose at the same time. yet what I found truly fascinating was that they didn't seem to find anything amiss. The power of the dragon god was truly monstrous.

"TOM!" Percival shouted, rushing towards the field with the group in tow.

As soon as he arrived before me he grabbed m shoulders quickly yet carefully and examined me from head to toe before turning towards Jenna who was off to the side gazing at me.

"I don't see anything wrong with him. What about you Jen?" he asked.

She only shook her head before her gaze shifted upwards, locking with mine for a moment.

"You are quite the show maker Tom. Making us worry like that. How is it that you are ok after something like that?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

I smiled awkwardly, "a magician never spills his secrets. Don't worry, although it was a tough battle, I was in no mortal danger at any point. I can assure you of that. Anyway…" I paused shifting my eyes towards the small statue looking at me with wide eyes.

"I completed the eighth floor. A deal is a deal. I will get what I want, and you get what you want. I'm sure headmistress wouldn't go back on her word, would she?" I asked with a confident smile.

The statue didn't even get to speak before a popping sound was heard behind me. I didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

Magical energy was assimilated into the body where it gained a special trait unique to the person. Meaning, that I knew who everyone was without actually seeing them. This was a sort of passive ability I had gotten from the elf. It also helped with detecting people pretending to be someone else via potions. It was truly a marvellous thing.

"I will most definitely abide by my word Mr Knight. But first, I think a change of venue is in order. I don't think it is appropriate to talk here." She said suggestively. There was nothing to debate, I simply nodded and looked at the group.

"I'll meet you all in the common room. catch you all later." I said while waving my hand before dissaparating to the headmistresses office.

When I opened my eyes I saw the same rustic yet grand office. The same smell of tea and candles assaulted my nose.

I casually took a seat on the chair opposite Violets and waited patiently.

It wasn't long before the same popping sound could be heard, and Violet walked around the desk and sat down on her chair. Randal came down from upstairs holding a thick book and a quill. A frown was on his face as he stared at me.

"What's wrong?" I asked curiously.

Randal sighed slightly, "what's wrong? I just lost my second bet in a row to you. Who would have known you were such a monster." He said helplessly as he gave a side-glance at the seemingly innocent smiling Violet twiddling her thumbs.

"Oh you, sore losers don't get anywhere in life. Learn from your mistake. Isn't that what you taught me before?" she asked with an arched brow.

Randal snapped his head at her and raised a shaky finger in her direction.

"And who was the one pushing me to make a bet against you? Huh? You blackmailed me into this bet knowing I had no choice. Learn from your mistakes my ass." He grumbled. They continued to bicker back and forth, much to my pleasure as I sipped on the tea I made myself.

It was only about two minutes later when Violet coughed awkwardly realising what they were doing in front of me.

I simply waved it off casually.

"Don't worry, I quite enjoy your chemistry. I'm sure you two are very close."

Violet was visibly surprised before turning to the old man with a genuine smile.

"Yes, Randal was my teacher back when I was a student here. I owe him a lot."

"You sure do missy. The number of headaches you've caused me is innumerable. Look! Look! All this white hair is because of you!" he said reproachfully. They were about to start another round of bickering, but I interrupted, pulling them back to the main topic of discussion. A bit of fun was nice but too much and it would quickly get annoying.

"So back to the main topic, I think it's time you uphold your side of the bargain," I said in a more serious tone. This key was very important according to Drak.

Violet also got serious at my words and nodded solemnly.

"But I truly must verify who you are. If you are indeed who I think you are, then I have no problem giving you this key. All you have to do is answer a simple question. Can you do that?" she asked cautiously.

"Sure," I responded succinctly.

"Very well, what is your last name Mr… Knight." She said, emphasising my last name.

A smile couldn't help but spread on my lips uncontrollably. It seems some people still knew.

I got up off my seat surprising the duo.

I then did a noblemen's bow with one hand over my chest.

"Let me reintroduce myself… my name is Thomas Pendragon. Heir to the Pendragon family and last living descendant. A pleasure making your acquaintance, Miss Violet Feathermore."
