Chapter 100: Nyx's Entrance

SLAP!

Esme paused, zipping up her backpack and squinted her eyes while rubbing her temples. Her wolf mentally slapped her, somehow, the sound making her grit her teeth. 

"What the hell, Is!?" She complained to her wolf.

"Get your shit together, girl! If I had more control of you, I would have actually slapped you. You're an ex-assassin just like him. Where's that fiery confidence gone? Come on! You've got this! You really have been relying on the vampires, tsk tsk," Isana ranted, and Esme could feel herself nodding along and smiling at her wolf, trying to get her fired up. 

"Okay! My shit's together!" She hollered back, shoving her backpack on the floor of the car behind her and grabbed her phone, sliding it into her back pocket before hiding the car keys again in the glove compartment.
