Chapter 568: Dragon-kun

Her hand grips the scaling tip of its wing as it flies past, almost wrenching her arm out of its socket from the sudden change in momentum. Somehow she manages to keep ahold of her blade as she does this, but the dragon instantly notices her presence and makes efforts to throw her off.

It spins in the air, performing barrel rolls, abrupt twists, and once even breathing fire at its own limb... Fortunately, she's able to duck out of its view and use its own body as cover from the fire.

Once she gets more accustomed to the flight, she focuses on the wing itself, the building muscles and tendons underneath its scales. She's become well versed with the physiology of many animals during her time with the Companions and in Hammerfell, allowing her to easily locate the vital areas of the limb.

She rears her sword back and stabs it just under the bone, severing the tendons and allowing the dragon to extend and contract its wing. As soon as she starts to make the cut-

*SNNNAAAP!*

Like a rope under immense pressure, the tendon snaps with great force, causing the wing to contract in on itself and sending the dragon unwillingly spinning through the air as it tries to regain control.

Saeko ends up being flung from the dragon, sending her spinning through the air without any means of controlling her unintentional flight. She sheathes her sword and spread her arms out to mimic a parachute, buying her more time to solve her problem.

This also allows her to watch as the dragon crashes into the cliff face below the Temple of Auriel, the sound of bones and scales breaking from the impact has her wincing in pity, but that was soon replaced with satisfaction as it slumps against the floor, writhing in pain.

Something catches her eye, and just as she's about to slash at it the thing barrel into her...

"Shame dogs can't fly." Serana remarks in her Vampire Lord form, flapping her anorexic wings despite the fact that they wouldn't work without magic being involved.

"Dogs can bring down dragons though." Saeko huffs in response.

"Just be quiet and let me have this... Also, should we help Michael out? He's been underwater for a while no-"

*CRASH!*

A dragon's head gets shoved through the ice and stays frozen there in a daze.

"Nevermind..."

"Let's get down there and finish our dragon off! Let's sees the look on his face when we beat him to it!" Saeko presses.

"Fine..." she says dropping Saeko not far from where the dragon had landed and returning to her human form.

Hearing them arrive, the dragon looks up from where it's huddled and growls, attempting to get up and half-failing as it puts weight on its broken wings, almost face planting... "Sahlo ulfah, Zu'u fen ag hi fah daar!"(Weak creatures, I will burn you for this!)

Saeko sniffs and drops into a stance, ready to perform a draw-cut with her katana. "I don't know what you said, but I assume it was along the lines of 'You are weak, I am better'. Which doesn't make sense given our positions."

The dragon growls in a rage at her words, "WULD NAH KEST!" it shouts using Whirlwind Sprint catching Saeko off guard at the stupidly effective strategy...

For regular human-sized enemies, them slamming into you at hundreds of miles of hour wouldn't do much to the superhuman inhabitants of Tamriel... But a dragon?

*SLLLAAM!*

Saeko's reactionary attack is rendered null as the dragon's body slams directly into her at ridiculous speeds. It's as if she'd thrown herself onto a highway only used by Semi-trucks... Needless to say, her sword is blasted out of her hand and skitters along the ice while her body is almost flattened as she's sent on a short flight.

She lands with a squelch due to most of her bones being shattered, and her flesh already all bruising... The only light in this tunnel was the fact she was unconscious, allowing her reprieve from the pain she'd undoubtedly be feeling...

"S-Saeko!?" Serana exclaims in surprised horror, never having expected the dragon to do something so random yet powerful. She runs over to her, ignoring the crippled dragon for the time being.

Meanwhile, said dragon was looking over at its twin which had its head slumped to the side with lifeless eyes... Michael was crawling out of the water, slick with its brethren's blood... "Krivaan do dii fron, hi fen aus ourbos erei hi los filanni bolaav prife ko dinok!"(Murderer of my kin, you will suffer endlessly until you are finally granted reprieve in death!) it roars, the winds picking up as it continues to speak. "VOS HIN SIL AG!" (LET YOUR SOUL BURN!)

Michael had just clambered out from the ice when fire explodes around him, the raging inferno quickly enveloping him in its grasp, attempting to burn him entirely... He quickly Blinks out of the way, but the flames follow, so instead, he casts Cold Embrace, encasing himself in powerful ice that blocks the attack for the most part.

Derflinger assists as well, using his Frost Breath shout to enforce the ice and prevent it from melting, his voice seemingly having a far better effect than a mere change in temperature would imply.

The crippled dragon attempts to continue its attack, but has its head snapped to the side by Serana who'd fired a lightning bolt into its cheek.

*Thud!*

A shadowy foot slams atop its head, bringing the beast to the ground as Darth tries to keep it there. He's somehow successful too, allowing Michael to escape from the ice and stab Derflinger into the beast's neck, killing it.

"Fucking dragons always pulling shit outta their ass..." he half mutters and sighs before looking over to his friends, then Saeko who'd been grievously injured.

Chapter 569: Vyrthur the Patient

"Yeah, that's gonna need some stitches." Michael mutters as he looks over Saeko, her limp awkwardly contorted body just laying there in the snow.

"Is there anything we can do to help her? I've never seen someone injured this badly before and survive..." Serana asks.

He nods, "Should be, it's easier since she's a Werewolf." he says, pulling a few health potions from his inventory, along with an ominous-looking ebony dagger.

"Make her drink these." he hands over the potions before grabbing her hand and placing the dagger into it.

"What's the dagger fo-" Serana asks while doing as she's told, only to pause when Michael forces Saeko's hand to stab him in the stomach. From the wound the blade grows red, causing small crimson lights to flow from him and into Saeko in much the same manner as a Drain Life spell. During all of this, Michael was also casting some healing spells, seemingly ignorant of the pain he should be experiencing.

"W-what?... Is that a vampiric weapon!?" she blurts out, accidentally spilling a bit of the healing potion onto Saeko's cheek.

"It's just the best way to get her back on her feet... Otherwise, we'd have to cut this adventure short, that or leave her at home... But I'm not risking myself doing that..."

"Why not!? She might not even wake up today!"

"Because I'll never hear the end of it if she misses the 'Boss Fight'."

Serana goes silent, leaving the duo with only the sound of the wind... Until the sound of Saeko's bones clicking and cracking as they force themselves back into place deafens them. Even for a vampire, it was grizzly business.

It takes around an hour for Saeko to completely heal, and ten minutes more to wake her up... This was thankfully made shorter by dunking her head in the ice water nearby. Of course, they'd had to spend an equally long time trying to stop her from cutting them up in response... Even if it did look slightly light she'd gotten off on the painful experience of almost dying...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arch-Curate Vyrthur was a vengeful man, one who could a grudge for however long it took to reach retribution... He was patient, scheming, smart, and confident, bordering on arrogant he admitted.

He was also passionate and dramatic, so when he heard the two dragons outside of his domain being slain, he knew his target was near. His etching of the prophecy into history was his greatest accomplishment yet, while he hadn't directly manipulated the Elder Scrolls, he'd manipulated the world which they were based on, forcing the false prophecy into reality.

The Tyranny of the Sun, his plot to get revenge on Auriel for damning him to this... Existence. He was infected with this blight by an Initiate from his Chantry, which should have been impossible on the face of it. But he'd had faith at the time, Vampirism was unheard of among any faithful of the Aedra, it was simply impossible to fall to it as long as the god disallowed it.

Which he why he was shocked to find, not a week later that he'd succumbed in the night and transformed fully, the rays of light that usually warmed his abode burning him with the intensity of fire.

Auriel had abandoned him, knowingly left him in this state despite his prayers to the contrary... HE WAS THE ARCH-CURATE! ONE OF AURIEL'S MOST FAITHFUL, AND THIS IS HIS REWARD!?

All those years slaving away to reach this position, to become one of the closest to his god, and yet he was thrown away like that!?

It didn't take a genius to realise that Auriel had plotted to put him in THIS state. No creature of the night could pass the trials, no creature of the night would ever be accepted by the Chantry, and no creature of the night could have reached him without Auriel's hand in it.

It'd taken millennia to overcome his weakness to the sun, thousands of years of constant, agonizing pain burning under the sun's tyranny. Yet he sat still, in his throne waiting for the Daughter of Coldharbour to arrive and realise his self-made prophecy.

He gives a fanged grin as he feels the approaching... They were nearing the Inner-Sanctum... He was so close he could taste it.

He'd dreamt of what he would say to them when they arrived. He dreamt of what he'd do...

*BAANG!*

The doors to his throneroom are blown open, allowing three figures to confidently stride inside.

Vyrthur stands from his frozen throne and holds his arms out, "Did you REALLY come here expecting to claim Auriel's bow!? You've done exactly as I'v-*GHUK!*" he's interrupted a person blurs forth and punches him so hard it launches him through his throne and through the wall behind that.

"FOO-"

*Thud!*

The mortal companion of his target punches him again with what felt like the force of Auriel himself, cracking the bones in his face, his teeth, and causing foul blood to spatter everywhere.

No matter, the mortal would regret this sneak attack, he'd just-

*Thud!*

"Another punch!?" Vyrthur mentally exclaimed as even more bones in his face crumbled. How surprising it was to face a mortal of such strength! Was this how they defeated the dragons!?

Regardless, he would still fall beneath his mig-

*THUD!*

His head flattens with the next punch, cutting Vyrthur's thoughts short as his brain struggles to repair itself.

"Uh, I might've hit him too hard..." the mortal mutters in... Embarrassment?

"Damn it Michael! I wanted to at least get a kick in on this piece of sunbleached shit!" the Daughter of Coldharbour angrily exclaims... Perhaps Vyrthur could use this to his advan-

"Oh, look he's not dead yet... Too bad for you, Serana has a LOT of pent-up emotions to vent."

Things weren't going as planned...

*THUD!*
