Chapter 17: Teaming up
It looked as if a dead body was made to sit on the ground and poured water on it.
He remained still for an hour before coming to his senses. He grew numb because of the pain caused by forcing out the terrible energy.
His white sutra had great healing effects and that was the reason he could still recover. Any other person would have died already.
He stood up, with his legs shaking. He went to a nearby tree and rested his body against it.
While resting he was circulating his energy and recovering slowly. When he finally felt at peace and was able to clearly think then he opened his system menu.
His system did not show any notification of him being poisoned. It did not even show a notification of him being hurt.
From the information of his bloodline he could vaguely feel some of its function which clearly included notifying him of attacks but the system not showing notifications puzzled him.
He was expecting his system to quickly notify him the moment he was poisoned.
"Could it be that the system has this ability but its locked like how the skill tab was? or maybe the system healed me but could not remove poison from my blood" these were the only conclusion he came to.
He did not notice it before but now that he thought about it he was being more and more dependent on system.
He was out there in hunting space but he was not being careful instead expected his system to help him.
His system which was a trait of his bloodline was of course his strength but it did not mean he could be dependent on it.
"There are many skills that can temporary disable the bloodline, I cannot be entirely dependent on it" he made a firm decision
While he was resting he heard footsteps of someone. It was approaching him and was more than one creature.
He covered his body with wind ready to flee swiftly. Soon, the sound of footsteps became more clear.
Sound of person speaking could be heard, it was not a person alone but a group.
He instantly touched his watch and opened the map. There, he could see the location of a team of 4 making their way to him.
"From the looks of it, they are likely coming for me. They do not look like the team I chased off before" they were heading directly to the direction where he was.
A minute later the group found him. He did not react to the group and just watched them coming to him.
All four of them slowly walked to him and stood in front of him ready to talk.
All four of them were of similar height with a well build body. Among the four there was one girl with blonde hair.
One of the guys was still talking to the girl and did not mean to pay attention to him for whatever reason.
One of the guy from group who looked good, with long black hair and sharp nose came forward to talk.
"If you are alone here then why don't you join our group, we are lacking team members" he said softly
"Sure" Road did not even wait for him to say no more, he accepted the request quickly which surprised the man.
He had not expected Roan to simply agree to join the team and was surprised.
However he did not loose his demeanor, he quickly analysed the situation and started by introducing himself.
" I am morris the leader of the team"
"Roan, I was alone here and could not find anyone to team up with" he did not want them to know of his hunts.
"Jennie" the beautiful girl with blonde hair said.
"Jasper" the guy who was talking to Jennie said without even glancing.
"Lucas" the guy behind Morris said while suspiciously looking at his clothes.
His clothes still had traces of being torn and some blood on it. He was in jungle and could not change or clean his clothes.
The other three noticed his clothes too but after checking that his body did not have any trace of damage they ignored it.
' Must have been some basic tier' Lucas guessed.
The 5 people were all standing in silence not saying anything.
"So, do you have any place we can stay at during night?" asked Morris trying to change the awkward surrounding.
"There is actually a demon kangaroo here which is intermediate tier and has wings. But the beast has gone somewhere and no other beast comes in near the plateau" he tried to explain the horror of beast and informed them of the area.
"Were you resting in the plateau yesterday?" Morris asked in disbelief
"Kind of, I needed to be vigilant so I was not actually resting but yeah" said Roan. He did not want them to be careless so he lied about him being vigilant all night.
Except for Morris no other teammates were interested in talking to him. It was more like they thought that useless guy had only escaped and hidden all the time.
They did not know that Roan thought of them as useless too. Most of the students who came in this space were only beginners in abilities.
They were twice or little stronger than average adult humans." Even average adult humans gain the strength of E rank by they are thirty or forty years old. I don't know why they are proud of this" he thought to himself.
He could tell from the looks of Jennie and others that they only wanted to gain all information, they thought he could've collected by now.
None of them were strong to fight an intermediate tier alone, fighting a basic tier was the best they could do.
He was able to judge their body strength with the help of wind path. Wind path was wind element made out of energy.
He could control the energy he converted into wind to a certain degree. The wind was under his control so he could check their body with the help of his wind path.
It was a newly learnt thing, he was only now trying it and found it working fine.
To judge another person's level one would have to touch their body and use energy to check the body's strength and energy.
Some sensitive ability users could determine the level of other user by just sensing their aura released by body from distance.
An aura formed around their body which was only noticeable to sensitive users. What he was doing now was same to it.
But he was using wind to touch their body and also checked the reaction of the energy to the body.
If their reaction to energy was good then it meant they had affinity with energy, had larger reserves of energy. The more energy one had, the easier it was to attract and absorb more.
if their reaction was bad and the body could not absorb energy or rejected energy, it meant the user had no larger reserver of energy and was weak.
It only worked to check the amount of energy and strength of body to certain extent, which was not very accurate.
He just compared his reaction to energy to theirs and judged it according to that.
He was In middle of gauging their strength when a notification window popped up.
He was not in hurry to talk to them and neither they seemed to be interested in talking to him. He opened his system to see the new notification.
The notification informed him of some new skill but it was not detailed. When he opened the system he checked for the notification first.

The notification was very short and did not give detailed information. But the word inspect made him relate with his current situation where he was inspecting the strength of others.
He guessed it was likely to be something related to this.
Under his skill tab he saw a new skill appear 'Inspect'
He clicked on the skill and the information about skill opened up.

The usage of skill was very simple. He quickly looked at the boy Morris and used Inspect on him.

He was shocked to see the information available to him from his new skill inspect.
It gave him the details of stats like strength and stamina. It felt as if he was getting the very accurate information like physical checkup.
He checked another guy Jasper's stats. He did not open the status menu this time and still used inspect just from thinking about it.
New window opened up but this time it was stats of Jasper.

Earlier when he checked for their energies he got an average response from Jasper. He thought it would be about 12 stats point each.
But now that he checked it, he was wrong. Most of the energy response was not from his energy reserve but actually from his strong body.
Body gets strong because of energy it contains except for energy reserve. That is why the energy he spread still responded to Jasper because his body had energy distributed to it.
He used inspect on the girl but his head started aching. He stopped using inspect and pain went away.
It was clear to him that powers such as this had limits. He could not freely use it everytime.
However it was enough for him. He could now check exact status of his opponent. He did not need to observe them for long and find their weakness.
He thought about strength of Jasper. He was truly capable of killing intermediate tier beasts.
It would be life threatening challenge but still he had chances of killing one in close combat.
If Jasper had any beast armaments on him or had any skill then it was possible for him to slay the beast without being heavily injured.
Morris was same as himself. He had well balanced stats. If he knew how to use energy or had certain skil then he could hunt well in teams.
With Jasper and Morris teaming up it was enough to kill an intermediate tier beast.
He did not yet check the stats of other two but he guessed them to have similar stats.
An overall stats of 12 stat points was good to team up and hunt intermediate tier beast. They could not quickly hunt one and needed lots of preparing, but it was still not that difficult.
People who had beast armaments were the only one capable of killing intermediate tier beasts.
But four people with these stats and some beast armaments would have easy against an average intermediate tier beast.
