Chapter 12: Reinforce skill
He took an hour of rest to recover his lost energy. When his energy stat recovered to 12, he stood up and left.
It was already past noon. If not for the rough training of the energy he could have saved a lot more time.
But it was important for him to have defense. The rough training not only helped him increase his defense but also increased his damage.
The time spent on the skill was no less than three hours. But the efficiency the skill provides would likely outweigh the time loss.
He already cleared two beasts out of seven. Now he wanted to check out other five caves and look for his next prey.
He quickly but quietly left the cave. The cave he was in was the bear's cave. Right to this cave was a cave of same size, where the dead snake lived.
The Bear's cave was first from left. He went in the forest facing the third cave's entry. The third cave was a little smaller than the other two.
It was not wide enough to accommodate more than three people together.
It was still possible to peek inside the cave. The cave was narrow so the sunlight could not enter deep inside.
He waited for a while for the beast to show up. But no one showed up. Not even some random beast neared it.
He doubted if there really was a beast currently inside. But not at all dared to go inside and check the cave out.
He could not even hear the beast's movement or anything proving the beast was inside.
He did not wait any longer. He only wanted to find an intermediate tier quickly. That is why he bothered to check the caves.
He could go and search for beasts in the forest but it would waste lot of his time searching them.
He went in the forest facing the fourth cave's entrance. The forest facing it was not at all dense. It seemed as if a giant beast regularly entered the cave not letting trees grow in his way.
It was easy to guess the beast in this cave was big in size. By the extent of trees affected, it was a beast two to three meters wide.
"A four legged beast with such giant body would probably be a strength type. Sneak attack might not work." He did not know if the beat had four legs or two.
But the size of beast made his assumption more concrete of it being a four legged beast. Usually giant bodies such as this were not humanoid type beasts.
And if this beast happened to be a humanoid beast then it could not fit in the cave at all.
He tried peeking in the cave. The light went inside but it was still not enough to light a cave of more than fifteen meters deep.
It was all thanks to his sensitive eyes that he could still make an outline of beast's body. It's body was as he guessed.
It was two meters wide and had four legs. The shape of beast was close to a bull. It had plump body and comparatively thin but strong legs.
He could see a horn on its head, above its left eye. The shape of beast was close to a bull.
He thought of waiting a while for the beast. If it showed hints of going outside for a hunt or a walk, he could observe it more.
Thud!!
A sound of tree breaking was heard. He looked in the direction from where noise came.
A two tailed fox like creature was sent flying and crashed into trees. A seemingly cute panda came chasing it.
The panda pulled its fist, ready to punch very hard. Its fist glowed white giving the aura of destruction.
The dangerous white light on panda's fist came striking fiercely towards the fox. The Fox's face showed terror. It was scared of the panda's white fist.
The fist striked the terrified fox and it stopped moving. It did not show any sign of it being alive.
The panda looked at the fox and seemed satisfied of his strike. The cute panda not at all killed beast or pulled the beast crystal out of fox.
The panda left after the strike. From the power of punch it was clear of who sent the fox flying into trees.
Roan waited for around five minutes. He first thought the panda left because it sensed him and wanted to bait him into revealing himself.
He had to look out for the panda and the bull. He thought the bull would at least come out to check the area.
But his worries were all for nothing. Neither of the beasts showed up. He waited for five more minutes.
No one arrived which made him very happy. He was thinking of ways to hunt another intermediate tier but not at all expected to get it delivered to him.
He quickly ran towards the dead looking fox vigilantly. When he reached the beast he found out the beast was not moving or squirming.
It was dead the moment the fist landed on its body. Because the Fox's body was nearly obliterated its body kept breaking. It looked as if it was in pain but it was actually disintegrating.
The power of panda's punch made him shudder. He knew he should not judge beasts based on looks.
The cute looking panda obliterated an intermediate tier beast in one punch. But the dangerous looking giant bull like beast did not even show up.
He searched the body of disintegrating beast and found a blue color crystal. He picked the crystal and quickly left.
He went back to second cave. He sat down and chose to absorb the beast crystal.

A notification to accept or reject the absorption popped up.
The more he got familiar with the system the more amazed he grew. He could still not get used to how easily the system refined a beast crystal.
He chose to accept. A stream of warm energy filled his body. His energy stat fully recovered.

He checked his status screen and found he needed a lot more crystals.

This time not at all any affinity increased but he was still satisfied of his free pick.
He needed eight more intermediate crystals just to level up. He did not waste any time relaxing. He stood up and left.
He went to look for the bull like beast. The bull was still in the cave and did not plan to move anytime soon.
He planned to look at the fourth cave later. He moved to check out the fifth cave.
He just moved and peeking into the cave. A liquid came rushing aimed at his body. He did not know who and from where it attacked him.
He dodged behind the tree. The liquid splashed on the tree and the three meter tall tree just broke off from where the liquid touched it.
He rushed off from the falling tree. He noticed another liquid ball aimed at him. This time he saw it, it actually came from the fifth cave.
The beast in cave noticed that he was spotted. It did not hide and came out of its cave.
The beast in cave who actually sensed him and shot corrosive liquid balls at him was a spider.
It was a combination of grey and black. It had four big eyes on its head. The mouth was below the eyes with black saliva dripping from it.
It had dark black four thin legs and a body of one meter tall and wide. Its body except for legs was oval in shape.
"It is an intermediate tier, has corrosion attacks and can shoot from far." He was observing the spider's body while dodging.
"It does not come close and fight, it must have a weak body for closs.." He was murmuring, when suddenly the spider cut the tree from middle into two with its leg.
The tree he was hiding behind was cut into two. If not for his quick reflex, his body would have been like tree.
Sweat dripped from his forehead. He used the reinforce skill he practiced. He put the max energy his fist could withstand.
His fist had a layer of blue with violent energy on the surface. The spider did not seem to notice his fist.
He waited for the spider to attack again but the beast was clever. It stopped and did not come close. It shot its corrosive ball from distance.
Roan was ready to strike the moment the spider moved to attack. He did not expect the beast to play him and use corrosion.
He was already running towards the liquid before it was shot. He could not stop and only use his reinforced hands to block the shot.
Energy layer on his hands reduced instantly when it touched the ball. He quickly supplied his hands with energy and stopped himself from getting hurt.
The spider did not wait for him. It was already rushing to him to eat his dead body. The beast was in for a surprise.
Roan withstood the corrosive ball and hit the rushing spider on its head.
The spider screamed in pain, never having expected the opponent to survive. Roan not at all stopped. He punched and put more energy into his fists.
In a second the spider's body was punched five times with violent energy supply from his fist.
The spider laid down on the ground only moving its body a little from time to time. Roan not at all stopped seeing the spider drop down.
He still punched the beast three more time on its head. Only when the notification of the beast being killed came up, did he stop.
His hands were burning. He blocked all the the liquid but still some of it splashed on his hands.

Only when he heard instant level up, he calmed down. He knew now his would automatically heal.
Energy passed through his body and the area affected by the corrosive liquid recovered.
He looked at his hands which showed no signs of damage. He felt relief.
He opened up his system menu to distribute his stats. He also wondered how much Exp points it would take to level up.

"I can only use one stat point now. Put it in energy stat, make it 19." he sighed
" I don't know why the exp points go up by this much when killing a single intermediate tier gains me an entire level" he still did not know the reason behind it.
If it allows you to level up with one intermediate beast then why demand for such huge amount of exp points.
It's not like someone with system as this could not hunt an intermediate tier beast but could hunt hundreds of basic tier beast.
"There must be other benifits of leveling up through exp points. I do not think there would be any other possibility"
"Why would someone only absorb a beast crystal without hunting it. Even if someone did so, why would they not actually hunt one beast instead of absorbing so many of their crystals" this did not make sense to him.
He could only check it by himself. He chose to absorb the crystal he got from the corrosive spider.

He had four of his stats left unused. He needed about 2700 exp points just to level up. He did not think he could get so many crystal.
He would need 22 crystals just to level up once. He wanted to unearth the secret behind it but could not get beast crystals without him hunting.
