__________

The rest of winter passed quickly. Charlus and Harry were introduced to Football for the first time. They were bad at it, though that might be because they were uninterested beginners. Harry was more into quidditch and Charlus prefered Polo. Sirius finally met Camille and he got an earful for letting Harry wander off in the town by himself. Charlus knew that he was going to go to Beauxbatons soon, so he invited the Rowes ( Camille, Rosa and Remy) to the Black Manor in the summer.

He was very excited that he would finally meet his friends. When he got to the mass portkey formation, he started scouring the room for his friends. He didn't find any though, so he got to his room alone. When he got to his room, he got bored. He had nothing to do, so he decided to explore the clubs.

Charlus had asked to register for the Alchemy club but that was no longer his interest. He had wanted to register so that he would find clues on who his mystery saviour was. Now that he found Nicholas Flamel, and he had a much better source of Alchemy resources and teaching, he no longer needed to join the Alchemy Club.

He went to the club areas and looked around. There were 2 Alchemy clubs. Then there were clubs for herbology, astronomy, potions, transfiguration, polo, runes, charms and duelling. Of all the clubs, Charlus found the duelling club most appealing since it would give him experience.

He first entered the True Alchemy club. He went to the administration desk and asked for Albus. He wanted to personally apologize for quitting the guild. Albus hadn't arrived at Beauxbatons yet, so Charlus gave a letter of apology to the person behind the administration desk and asked her to stop his membership process.

He went out of the club and went into the Duelling Club. The moment he went in, people started recognizing him. The Alchemy Club had very few people and most of them hadn't arrived yet, so the club was empty when Charlus went there. The Duelling Club, however, was the most popular in the academy. Some people were bound to recognize the lucky person who got to study under the great Nicholas Flamel.

"Oi future alchemist! You got the wrong club. The alchemy clubs are that side." A 3rd year said to Charlus.

"I'm here to join the duelling club."

Everyone started laughing. Then they saw that Charlus was serious.

"You're serious?" A senior asked.

"Yes. Why is that surprising?"

Another person asked Charlus.

"You are the person handpicked by Nicholas Flamel to teach Alchemy. Why would you join any club other than the Alchemy clubs?"

Charlus shook his head.

"That is precisely why. If I was taught by Nicholas Flamel, why would I need to join the Alchemy Club? Wouldn't it make more sense for me to join a club that lets me do something else?"

Everyone was confounded by Charlus' logic. They didn't think that an eleven-year-old would think that deeply.

"Where do I register?"

Charlus asked the crowd.

"You can't join immediately. You have to qualify. Otherwise, we would be flooded with members."

"What do I do?"

A senior came forward and said, "Follow me."

Charlus followed the senior and listened to what he had to say.

"You will have to show that you have proficiency in at least three duelling spells. Normally, you have to be in your 5th year to be taught three spells, but a lot of students learn from their families. You will be performing your spells on me."

The two came to a stop in front of a room. The senior stepped inside and Charlus followed. The room was bare and had metal walls.

"You can call me Claude. You may begin now."

Charlus stood in front of Claude and took out his wand. He tried to decide which spell he had to use. He finally decided on three.

"Expelliarmus!"

He cast at Claude. Claude was prepared for it and dodged it by turning to the side. Charlus was disappointed that the spell hadn't hit Claude, but he moved on to the next spell.

"Incarcerous!"

A rope came out from Charlus' wand and Claude cut it in half wordlessly.

"The last spell is Protego."

Claude nodded and was prepared to cast a spell at Charlus.

"Expelliarmus!" Claude shouted.

"Protego!" Charlus formed a shield around his body. The spell hit his shield and bounced off.

Claude clapped.

"I must say, I am impressed. Not many first years can pull off a Protego. You must have put in a lot of work. You just need to fill out this form and submit it to the administration desk. Whenever there are tournaments, the club will send you a message and you can register. You must attend at least 4 tournaments over the years. Two tournaments are conducted every month for all age groups. You will come under the Under-13 age group. Welcome to the Duelling club."

Claude handed Charlus a form and left the room. Charlus was happy that he had qualified. He filled out the form and handed it out to the administration desk and went out of the club. When he got out, he was immediately stopped by a person.
