He was about to leave right before Connor grabbed his right arm by instinct.

He sighed, shaking his head as he reasoned, "Brother, did you forget you just broke up with her? The very sight of you will only make her more hurt than she already is, brother. Do you want that for her? Do you seriously want to cause her more pain?"

His brother could be quite the dimwit when it came to matters involving Emma, that he already knew, but it still amazed him how foolish he could be at times.

James went still, before he came to a decision.

"Right, I don't want to hurt her even more than I already did," James said distastefully.
